The chickadee footage was beautiful! So hypotonic 😍
Sandhill Cranes in the reeds are my favorite, followed by the photo of the Shovelers in flight! Nice outing👍🏼 Cheers, Declan 🐦🦉🤗
P.S. I still own and use a Canon PowerShot SX 50 HS and the American Robin nest watch on my channel was filmed with it, surprisingly good camera I found! 📷
Thanks, Declan! Yes, I totally agree it's a great camera and I couldn't get most of my shots without it. I even use mine as a scope a lot of the times. - Ben
loved seeing all the birds around your area, definitely know about the pressure to taking video vs. photos!
Hey Alexis, yeah it's tough having to choose and if you try all at once everything suffers. I've been so busy recently, and haven't been on here as much. I'll need to check out your recent videos!-Ben
Lots of great footage in this one, very nice Sandhill Crane 😊 We use the same camera for video I think the Canon power shot SX 540 HS ??
Hi Casey, thanks! I felt good about this week's footage! Looking forward to spring migration with even more opportunity for better shots. Mine is a sx 60, but from what I've read they perform very similarly. Both great cameras! - Ben
@@binsandbirds yes great film cameras for the age of them 😊
So many thoughts! 1) Beautiful shots throughout the video! Particularly the sandhill crane in the beginning and the Northern Cardinal foraging 2) So jealous of the pileated woodpecker. Love those birds and they are always a treat 3) Congrats on finally getting that Fox Sparrow!!! 4) Woodcocks are so funny. Back in college we used to have one hanging around Stevens Point and we would hear it call every night we had a fire One question, why does your photo setup also not work for video? Looks like you have a solid lens there so curious why you aren't using it for both photo and video?
Thanks so much, Hawkin! I appreciate all of your thoughts. Great question! So my photo setup can work for video and the quality would actually be better, but the couple of reasons I don't are: 1. The fixed 400 mm lens is hard for me to track down the bird in time. I don't have the option to zoom out and find the general area of the bird first. 2. The camera body is old which means I don't have great video stabilization with handheld. It needs to go on a tripod, which adds to the difficulty of finding the bird in camera. 3. I don't have the patience to swap lenses when I'm in the field to get wide and close up shots. I have used a smaller camera (phone or GoPro) to cover my wide shots before in this scenario, but it was such a hassle especially with wearing gloves. But I may need to adapt to all of these hurdles if I want to get better quality footage with my current gear. How's your new camera? - Ben
@@binsandbirds ah yeah a fixed lens makes it hard that’s true. I’m also still trying to find the balance of wide shots and zoomed shots too. I’d love to have more shots of myself but don’t want to swap lenses either. Regardless the new camera has been working really well for getting those wildlife shots!
the calls are so cool.I seen them in winter regularly, but they didn't call. Greets Stefan
Nice footage! I love the chickadees lol, the chickadees on my property follow me around landing on my head until I fill the bird feeder. I got about two minutes or so of behaviour and feeding footage of the Sandhill Cranes last night. For a future video 😊
Hey Casey, thanks! Chickadees have a lot of personality! Looking forward to seeing the footage of the cranes. - Ben

Congrats on 100 subscribers! 🎉
Thanks Jordan!
Alright Ben and Chilly, way to go! Way to represent Carhart and bird lovers in Wisconsin! Congrats! 🎉🐦🤗 Cheers, Declan 🦉
Thanks Declan! Appreciate the support. Haha, on the representing Carhart - Ben & Chilly
Congrats on 100! Making big gains out here my guy‼️‼️
Thanks my dude! After posting I realized I should have given you a shoutout too. You've been a real one since day one. I'll give you one when I get to 1M!
Great video! I realized that I wasn't subscribed for some reason so I did and realized you just broke 100 recently. Congrats!!!
Thanks so much, Hawkin! I appreciate the support.
I had not heard the term "Nemesis Bird" before, but I'm more of a backyard birder. I'll give that some more thought. Great video, setup and shots. Really glad I was introduced to this channel!
Thanks so much for being subscriber 100! I appreciate your interest and glad that K showed you my channel.
Great footage of the Barred Owl swallowing a frog! I was thrilled to record a similar scene last summer. Interestingly one of my nemesis birds a while back was also the Red Crossbill 🐦💛 Cheers, Declan 🦉
Hey Declan, thanks! It was an awesome surprise. Ha, glad you were able to find them. Do you have a current nemesis? - Ben
@@binsandbirds HERMIT THRUSH! Thought I had it last spring but it turned out to be a Swainson's Thrush 😊🐦✌️
My nemesis bird is currently the Loggerhead Shrike. Awesome video! Congrats on your Red Crossbill lifer!
Thanks, Jordan! Loggerhead Shrike was my first nemesis bird. It took me a few years until I finally got it. Very special moment when I finally got it. Looking forward to seeing your video when you eventually get yours!
Determined to help you find a shrike around here haha
Congrats on your lifer!
Thanks so much, Tracy!
Do you currently have a nemesis bird? Leave a comment and let me know!
Genial compañero pasaba por aquí y me quedé a disfrutar de la naturaleza que nos muestras 👍.
Gracias por ver mi video! - Ben
Sometimes it's about the journey and not the destination 😊 Enjoy yours🦉 Cheers, DT
Hi DT, haha yes you're totally right! Thanks - Ben
Nice video! Love the creativity!
Thanks, Jordan! I'm still trying to find my style. So having some find trying out different things. - Ben
lol that’s where all our Geese went 😊 When they come back they are more often a nuisance crapping everywhere. I remember a certain one every year would nest in the parking lot of the Sail outdoor gear store in Oshawa Ontario and attack any customers that got to close lol. In all fairness the area was semi dry wetlands up until the 1990s before development.
Haha, please take some of them back! Yeah... we have the same thing happen here with them pooping everywhere. Thanks for watching, Casey! - Ben
The video is beautiful and entertaining. Thank you for sharing the observation video. 1 LIKE from me. I am a new friend here from Singapore.👍🔔
Thanks, Cheiko! - Ben
Hello Ben. Beautiful observations. Nice video👍 Have a great Sunday!
Thanks so much! - Ben
Nice and so wonderful video.
Thanks so much! - Ben
COYOTE SIGHTING!
Hallo friend. You will find owl next time. Many beautiful birds and coyote in your video. Beautiful. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you for your nice comment! Hope you have a great weekend too. - Ben
Great video! Impressed that you got focus on that coyote with all the branches in the way. Cool few birds too!
Thanks, Hawkin. I was also impressed that I got the coyote in focus!
At least ypu found some birds including a merlin 😊. The coyote was cool aswell. greets Stefan
Hi Stefan, yeah! Both great finds for the day. Thanks - Ben
Love the coyote footage good job 😊
Thanks, Casey! Yeah, it was the highlight of my day. I haven't seen one in awhile - Ben
Nice footage of the Muskrats 😊 I got some footage yesterday of a scruffy looking older one I believe. It will be in a future video soon. I quite often see them in the wetlands behind my property.
Hi Casey, thanks! Yeah, I love getting surprised by the other wildlife I see on my outings. Looking forward to seeing the muskrats in your future video! - Ben
Wait do you live in Wisconsin? I am originally from there!
Hey Hawkin, yeah I'm in Dane County! What a coincidence! What area are you from?
@@binsandbirds originally from the Sheboygan area. I live in Salt Lake City now though
@@HawkInTheLens that's awesome! What a small world
Good video New subscriber here from Ontario Canada 😊
Hi Casey, thanks so much!
@@binsandbirds you’re welcome
There are certainly days (especially in January) where birding is really slow! Nice video! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Jordan!
Ha I knew I recognized the gloomy grey sky as wisconsin 😀 Really happy to find a new birding channel
Haha, yeah it's been pretty grey lately. It's nice to see another Wisconsinite too. Your FPV videos are cool! I've not seen much FPV stuff besides the drone racing. I'm hoping to get a drone at some point.
Goose poop 1:13
This is what they mean when they say cut on action right? lol that poor long tailed duck was basically sleeping in goose poo too
Hey. Very nice footage of all the birds and the muskrats you found. New subscriber here.I film birds in northern germany on my channel. Greets Stefan
Hi Stefan, thanks for subscribing and checking out my channel! I'm looking forward to following along with your videos too. I've not studied many birds outside of the US, but after watching one of your videos can see we have many species that are different but look very similar!
Your bird shots are so great. Making me jealous!
Thanks, Hawkin! Your shots are great too.
My first time seeing your video. Appreciate the names of the birds in your video 😊
Thanks so much for watching! Glad to hear you appreciate the names.
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Looking forward to following your content
It’s the thumbnail for me 🥶🦆
Haha, I worked on the thumbnail game because of you. Thanks BB
Sad to see Chilly go
I know 😭
I can't wait to see more!
Hey Cynthia! Thanks. Hope to see you out in the field again.
@@binsandbirds I'm sure we'll run into each other, especially since you're doing the big year. You will be everywhere!
You should definitely sabotage Bostic before they sabotage you!!
Gotta keep your guard up!
Lol that intro... Didn't expect to be laughing this much watching a birding video.
Beautiful birds!!
I like the "Birdnet" app. You record the bird you're hearing and the app will analyze it. It will tell you what it most likely is. It's usually right. After a while, you start learning them on your own.
I've seen the whooping crane in the wild. They come to the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge every year near Decatur, Alabama along with thousands of sandhill cranes and all kinds of waterfowl..
Awww. I love the little phoebes.
My daughter did an internship on Wallops Island and so we visited the Eastern shore of Virginia and the Chinoteague horses. Unfortunately, that was before I was into birding. I really enjoyed your video.
I enjoyed your video. It's March 27th 2021 and I have 83 species for the year and 108 lifetime species. I joined ebird 5 years ago but I really just started looking outside my yard a few months ago.
