Tony Stark's Guilt + How Façade is used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (One Marvelous Scene)
มุมมอง 5115 ปีที่แล้ว
All of these One Marvelous Scene video essays inspired me to make my own about an underrated scene from Captain America: Civil War that always stood out to me - Tony Stark's B.A.R.F. presentation and confrontation with the grieving mother. Not only does this scene introduce Tony Stark in Civil War, but it acts as a great example of how Marvel and the Russo brothers approach character: beginning...

    This was awesome, thank you for breaking it down. I have a better understanding of the Hero's Journey because I love this movie, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Thanks again, your interpretation is so user friendly and explainable.

    A really good breakdown on why Into the Spider-verse rocks. It's really helpful for someone like me who is writing a story. The hero's journey is TIMELESS. It's ingrained within human nature. The eras can change; the characters can shift but one thing is constant: we love seeing heroes struggle and succeed and the Hero's journey does this in spades. And how well you implement that idea with your story can make something that's meh, Captain Marvel or something that's amazing, Spider-verse, Kung Fu panda etc.

    What was your favorite moment from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? And what other character arcs would you like to see me cover in future episodes of Behind The Arc?

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find protagonists who are sympathetic at the beginning of the movie, but who slowly becomes the villain in their own story, to be fascinating. Like Tony Montana in Scarface or D-Fens in Falling Down. It would be interesting with a deep dive in the character arc of such a protagonist.

    • @Matt_Murrell
      @Matt_Murrell 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Awesome suggestion, Bård! Agreed, the slow turn into the villain is a great arc and something I've been meaning to dive into. I can see myself doing a deep dive for one of those movies as well as a separate video where I compare/contrast how different movies accomplish that same arc. Thanks for the ideas!

    Honestly, I'm really impressed with the quality of your content. I could honestly say, as much as I love seeing Tony blast away terrorists from the Ten Rings, or seeing Cap take down fighter jets with just a shield and motorcycle. It's actually when Cap is standing up for what he believes in, or Tony talking to Pepper about how he can solve the Quantum Realm problem, are the moments that resonate with me the most. And Marvel really just transitioned what made their comics/characters so successful in the comics, into the MCU; flawed heroes that are humans. Now DC just needs to give us inspiring heroes. Subbed to your channel, looking forward to more of your content, it would be great if you could follow back and check out my content as well.

    • @Matt_Murrell
      @Matt_Murrell 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Black Nerds Talk Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. I totally agree that Marvel leans into the flawed characters that make the comics so great. I love the big moments in Endgame (Portal scene, Cap wielding the hammer, I am Iron Man, etc), but the scenes that I keep thinking about are Tony losing it on Cap after he gets back to Earth, and Thor seeing his mom again. Those character moments just stick with you. I just subbed back and I’m looking forward to checking out your videos!
