Netherlands
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 ม.ค. 2017
MCH2022 was a nonprofit outdoor hacker camp taking place in Zeewolde, the Netherlands, July 22 to 26 2022. The event is organized for and by volunteers from and around all facets of the worldwide hacker community.
Knowledge sharing, technological advancement, experimentation, connecting with your hacker peers and hacking are some of the core values of this event.
MCH2022 is the successor of a string of similar events happening every four years since 1989. These are GHP, HEU, HIP, HAL, WTH, HAR, OHM and SHA.
Similar events are 🇬🇧Electromagnetic Field, 🇩🇰Bornhack,🇧🇪Fri3d Camp and 🇩🇪Chaos Communication Camp.

Math nerds rule
Interesting Gamemechanicidea: Changing the Value of Pi or other irrational Constants intentionally while playing as a result of an event or as a gimmick to unlock certain paths.
doom but everything is wrong
Very nice and interesting speech/presentation. The code injection is awesome. :D
with code injection we can literally play Doom in Doom
05:35: Lookup tables and interpolation works fine using fixed-point arithmetic. There is no mystery about computing Sin using BAMs. (BAM = "Binary Angular Measurement")
what about injected jpeg game with different values of pi?
Like different levels of Salvia trips.
Doom Guy: "Am I joke to you?"
I'd like to think the 'incorrect' Pi values are paying homage rather than getting it wrong
Oh thanks god, things are moving around because pi is equal to 3, not because i've lost my mind!

"segue"
Anyone else get dizzy watching pi/2 lmao
make 1 =2 pi.
I find comfort in the idea that a 30 year old code is still relevant and usable today. It's a hint that coding games is slowly becoming an art of its own.
Me, watching this video, just finishing my dnd game, after a week of physics studying : "hah, nerds"
That was magnificent.
Please someone speedrun Doom=e.
que interesante sistema de seguridad para los presos
As one professor said "pi is close to 5, which is close to 2pi, so you can just use 10".
That was confusing . . . . .
18:15 I would change the sine table to a triangle waveform, thus making the unit circle a diamond.
It was also Quake that used the reciprocal square root hack. I think they have accepted certain inaccuracies.
The clunky graphics of that time would qualify for a Minecraft clone today.
This was pretty fun and interesting for me as a total non-programmer and non-hacker (except for some high school java)
Very interesting
Great talk
That woman needs corrective exercises.
Doom is like the computer equivalent of C. elegans or Drosophila or Arabidopsis thaliana
He proved that Doom runs even in Powerpoint
SO MANY firsts to my disbelief. I mean, this is a first person shooting game, and doesn’t even employ DirectX because it’s from a time before DirectX - probably 10 years before or more. I can recall a few of my very first encounters with l desktop computers where x86 machines required the user to type a few DOS commands to actually start up Doom. Reminds me of Sierra games. The guys who created Doom though - must be some awesome people - for giving Doom the open source licensing at a time when Napster would be the big media buzz for a couple years at least… what great and special times these software engineers helped bring to us!
It may well be that without DOOM, DirectX would have come later. DOOM exploded onto the scene and everyone wanted a part of it. It dod something that most would have thought was impossible on the hardware of those days. Its impact on gaming cannot be overestimated.
I miss something between Pi and 4 (3,5) to check the limit for playable when over Pi.
Having a lookup table for trigonometry seems like a no-brainer. If people don't do it now, it contributes to games that require fast computers even if they are retro and look like garbage.
*heavy breathing into mic *
Where exactly in tables.c does it define pi? I would like to try it for myself but i am not very knowledgeable about it.
I did this with doom3 when it came out, was only workable around 3~ otherwise the map wouldn't really load
interesting but none of that actually looked like non-euclidian :P
“I hope someone got fired for that blunder” is a simpsons reference. They didn’t mean it I'm sure
Does it have an option for CICS and vsam db2
It's not segway, it's SEGUE
9:25
I love how with this crowd the question "Why do anything like this?" is not asked, or even considered.
Correction. Downloading Doom was not possible over the internet as it was really not much there in 1993.
can you make it 4D? :D
This is how I perceive moving through higher dimensions with a 3D body
PI = 3 makes Doom look like every PS1 game
