WHY2025 is the next big Dutch Hackercamp, also IFCAT event in 2025. The name WHY2025 stands for What Hackers Yearn 2025. The event is organized for and by volunteers from and around all facets of the worldwide hacker community.
When: 8th to 12th of August 2025
Where: Geestmerambacht is 52km North of Amsterdam
Knowledge sharing, technological advancement, experimentation, connecting with your hacker peers and hacking are some of the core values of this event.
WHY2025 is the successor of a string of similar events happening every four years since 1989. These are GHP, HEU, HIP, HAL, WTH, HAR, OHM, SHA and MCH.
Similar events are 🇬🇧Electromagnetic Field, 🇩🇰Bornhack,🇧🇪Fri3d Camp and 🇩🇪Chaos Communication Camp.

Warcraft 2.Age of Empires. Done. By the time Empire Earth came along to complete the logical extension of the concept, and proved me some fun times, I was already tired of the rock-paper-scissors combat system, the rushing, and the paper thin diplomacy and state craft. So I'd move on to Civilization 3, Medieval Total War, and Europa Universalis 3 😊 and then I had no time to play games anymore
Ah. Lovecraftian Doom! A game where you battle unspeakable and nameless cosmic horrors in a space covered in black protean ooze, and where THE ANGLES ARE ALL WRONG!
What in the world?! 😮
You could have just made a TH-cam video you didn't need to get a whole audience, golly 😢
Lookup tables for trig functions are required because manually calculating them is massively slow and frame rates would tank
Bro sounds like Zoidberg
What is the highest playable value of pi?
pi = 3
Trust me, this guy doesn't really know what he is talking about or even understands what he is doing. The fact that the game uses lookup tables has nothing to do with graphics cards not being available back then. It has to do with the fact that the targeted hardware didn't have a floating point processor. Also, non-Euclidean geometry has nothing to do with straight lines no longer being the shortest path between two points. It has to do with the fact that two lines, running parallel, are no longer running parallel. He is also surprised he can still shoot enemies. Of course you can. Things like enemy hit registration and collision detection are done separately from the renderer. In fact, the calculations over there are 2D instead of 3D. The Doom engine is not a true 3D engine. Only certain parts are 3D. Changing a value in source code and recompiling that code is not black magic. It can be easily done with the right toolchain. Easy money.
Exactly. Lookup tables were the primary way of using complicated functions for real time events even into the 2000s. We're talking about a time when we finally were getting dedicated multiplication registers lol. Does this guy know that trig functions are solved using series addition with factorial terms? Nowadays it's no big deal but in the early 90s it wasn't practical lol
10:40 - yeah, a little...turn it off that shit :)
Non-Euclidean Doom looks like Doom on PS1, generated by AI
Who'd have thought changing a variable to random numbers screws up a program?
The title oversells things quite a bit. Mostly they change the value of pi, which affects graphics rendering. Non-Euclidean geometry would be things like spherical or hyperbolic geometry. That would make traveling between rooms quite interesting!

Just as the Bible says, pi=3
Doom but Ïa Ïa Cthulhu Fthagn.
surprised no pi = 1 test
I need to try this in vr
So what's the significance of this... find?
wasn't the first physical meet in april this year?
Now imagine the irony of breaking all the software that to this day is on GitHub using the wrong value for π, by LITERALLY FIXING the code and replacing it with the right value, as it breaks everything that was bound to the incorrect numbers
Can this work with GZDoom? I'm spoiled with full mouselook.
Is that xisuma's skin?
Yeah… yeah… yeah… it’s… yeah…. Yeah
running asteroids on doom via jpeg is the craziest thing i've ever seen
I just love when he says "with enough intoxication you can recreate this"
Lmfao
pi = i ...
Me as a doom vereran nodding along as if I understand any of this
As a human I eat pie
As a pie I eat humans
I’m here because of doom scrolling
it would be fun i flund you tried multiple diffrent constents to see what result they would give
4D Doom
Me: I will sleep early and stop wasting time on the internet. Also me 3am:
Most entertaining talk I ever see 🎉❤ amazing.
3.33. only half bad.
who does not know where to start and how to enter a small web - web 1.0 hosting - join
John Carmack has basically hacked the universe through his mistake. Given enough time his wrong value will be picked up by so much code that eventually we will have no choice but to keep using it .
π ≈ 2
4D Doom is unacceptable
If you keep your eyesight unfocused and move around, you'll experience an approximation of Non-Euclidean geometry.
Now I only need to create version with pi=2.9 and distribute it on Lan party to other so they just die internally.
Playing Doom on drugs be like...
Does anybody know exactly WHERE to find the value of PI in the source code for chocolate doom?
Why is everyone talking about pie are they hungry or something
Also ich finde die Präsentation sehr gut. Er hat viele bilder benutzt und frei gesprochen
Leaving a comment 😊
8:35 Pi = 3 9:36 Pi = e 10:20 Pi = Pi/2 11:15 Pi = 0.0001
Doom but you are a 3 dimensional being trying to perceive a 4D dimension
It’s like if Bloody Stupid Johnson from discworld made doom
would make for a really cool mod
