Found a tossed out D430 to-day. Also has a docking station sort of stuck! Has the Intel Duo core Centrino (had / has Win XP). Turn it on but it comes up "no boot device found" so either the HDD has been removed or its dead. Thank you 🤓 can the CPU be upgraded on the D430?

Yes it is. I even unplugged the connector and gave it a good cleaning with Deoxit.

You need to zoom On the screws and parts when dismantling so that people will learn from your video what to do for replacement of rams and keyboard etc .....
But I'm not sure if it will work on windows 11 ????

Reflashing the BIOS has always fixed that slow POST process for me, even if it's not an upgrade and just the same revision.
That HP looks like it came out in 2013! I have an Inspiron 3521 with about the same I/O.
just installed lubuntu (is free) from a usb (cp using rufus, which is also free) and goes great. I was not using the laptop because it was too slow with win10 & felt bad about it because it is still in great shape. There are some videos that substitute the disk to a ssd with using an mSATA-ZIF adapter board with mSATA hard drive. D430 has PATA interface. However, the mSATA to 1.8 adapter fails at times. I will leave it with linux by now.

Most likely, a mode switch issue. Unplug the V.C.R., undo the entire chassis, and then locate the mode switch. Remove the cap, make sure that the arrows are aligned perfectly upon reassembly. Clean the contact traces with alcohol and use a very small amount of white lithium grease on the contacts. Reassemble mode switch and V.C.R. It should work. Never force a tape into a transport. It could irreparably damage the V.C.R.

lol at first i wondered why all the people were panicking couldn't they just go to the launch silos? but then i realised there was no launch silos back then and if you didn't have the escape gamepass you were pretty much screwed.

I recommend recapping the power supply. Your Magnavox looks like a Panasonic OEM. Their SMPS power supplies always develop problems with leaky or out-of-spec caps and the symptoms are diverse; bad picture, unstable playback, unable to detect tape speed, the head drum won't spin, etc.
The OEM is Funai and not Panasonic

No, I don't see an auto head cleaner. The head turns freely to.
Also try spinning the head manually. If there's resistance (you have to force it to spin) then something is clogging it up (dust or something). This happened on one of my VCR's, and a through but careful cleaning fixed the problem.
Does this have the automatic head cleaner on it? If so it might be jamming the head.
