Brilliant! Still have the EP complete with the stickers and gig promotion sheet.
Perfect
Baffling how nowhere is it mentioned this is a Jimmy C. Newman track, nor the rear sleeve note that both Alex Chilton and Robyn Hitchcock play guitar at the end of the track.
Not just here, but also on Discogs.
B Alligator Man Written-By -- Chance*, Newman In the description
I loved Mick Ronson's voice! He was the high harmony you hear in so many of Bowie's hits. His solo work didn't get much hype in America when it was first released. I wasn't aware of it until recently thanks to youtube. The internet is a wonderful thing!
Jesus Christ! These guys deserved a lot more respect than they got at the time. Imagine it probably only cost a quid or two to see them…no dynamic pricing shite then. The only dynamic thing was this great band. RIP Barry❤
Desolation angels in a junkyard of lies Secret thinkers, spitting in their eyes Don't lock frustrations deep inside Shout out the truth they like to hide They're tryin' to get across But it's hard to make sense Robbed of something And we've got no defense If they took away your weekend You'd feel the pain alright I bet you'd stand up and fight Sometimes you just don't know who your enemies are You gotta understand we're on the same side Oh no you just don't know who your enemies are 'Cause when the heat is on They run and hide and let us fight it out alone Don't wanna be a martyr to anybody's cause Just wanna break free from the savage jaws I don't want to change the world, just my own But sometimes I feel so alone Sometimes you just don't know who your enemies are You gotta understand we're on the same side Oh no you just don't know who your enemies are 'Cause when the heat is on They run and hide and let us fight it out alone Enemies! Send the guitar! Enemies! Send the guitar! Enemies! Just a number on the run! Enemies! This guitar is a gun! Enemies! Secret thinkers! Enemies! Spitting in their eyes! Enemies! Shouting out the truth! N-M-E! Gotta break free!
There is a man in a shiny suit he’s saying “Get them off the streets and into the schools” But he looks pretty dull he’s got a middle aged spread And he could never understand what’s going on in my head But I’ll get him tonight, I’ll teach him a lesson alright I’m gonna smash my Telecaster Through the television screen ‘Because I don’t like what’s going down I got the rights, I got the rights I’ve got the ticket and the buck stops here Devaluation on the network news Rock ‘n’ Roll heroes with the rich mans blues It don’t really matter if the future looks bleak Cos I never see more than a tenner a week Can’t afford their records so I steal them when I can Watch out for that guitar there Wham bam bam So here I am, just watch me now I’ve got a new band It’s the victim and the weapon this guitar in my hand Greta Garbage Trashcans playing hard and fast Things are looking good at last Don’t call me blank generation I’m doin’ the best that I can
Fucking epic! Lit my summer up in 76!
That rhythm section and that rhythm guitar is so tight, you'd think they were all welded together!!
Move all these chairs.
Gnarl was the only band.
Hot Rods were incredible live and their records still rock today.
I met the band at a gig in San fran and hung out with the singer a few times following this. He gave me the demos from the second album which as far as I know wasn’t released. Shame it was damn good. I read somewhere that the broke up the band and the singer became a DJ…..Rick Stone your car was filthy but you were good company
hoooly shit you should share the demos
Fucking awesome but I srongly suspect it was not recorded at The Marquee on 9/7/76?
This s fantastic! I love it! Got it when it first came out and I still listen to it. Great rock n roll and great guitar sound and great selection of songs!
One of the very earliest EP's. Absolute dynamite, kept playing it over and over staring at the cover.......great days.
❤❤❤❤❤
Honestly, I love this, but also check out the Laibach version.
Saw them perform this live in 1989. The whole place was sweating like a swamp!
Absolutely beautiful
Geez how on earth has this band been "forgotten" incredible I mean fabulous
Is this bowie or rons9n?
The clue is in the title. Mick
what's with the washing machine???
straight outta leicester, the 'head were grebo through and through.
GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAR!!!!!
So beautiful .
I had a copy of free fall though featherless flight , all the the madmen is news to me , bella!
This is fantastic
Thanks
Best UK band not to be huge.
Thought they were called “Thee Milkshakes” ?
Not according to the record cover. :/🤨🤔
@@schwinglow according to Wiki and other album covers they were, maybe they used both?
Ambassadors of Love”, for instance
There was "Thee Headcoats" and "Thee Mighty Caesars." The Milkshakes to the best of my knowledge were always "The Milkshakes."
Dion has a great voice but this song really benefits from the harmony of multiple voices as in the chordettes version.
😎Accidentally Tapped This Selection While Half Asleep @ 5:30am & I ❤Love It …Thanks 🙏
Glad you like it Mark
Love how the spin cycle is perfectly timed.
WOW a bunch of dirty grebos from the Leicester (Fanclub/Sector5) late 80's on YT. Hung around GBOA a lot!
It's such a shame that even on Merseyside among old and young they are almost entirely unknown and their huge influence on Liverpool's post Beatles music scene is largely forgotten, in spite of them being such a huge influence on the Eric's scene and the music scene 76-early 80's. It's amazing how many 60+ Liverpool residents have never heard of Deaf School!!! WTF Some sort of BBC documentary on Liverpool Music, Beatles, 60's , 70's etc is long overdue...
Monster
Always just one step behind Holding your hand
Some time some where this will be appreciated , and the world will be a better place.. Love to you all.
AMAZING COVER, YOU ARE FANTASTIC
Epic at 0:40.
I love this album
No musik from the album
Why
Thanks for the video :-)
Wowser, just discovered this (via the Cardiacs rabbit-hole of association!). Can hear some elements of the future Dark Star here & there!
What a band. So good live. These first 3 EPs are killer. Then came "Desert Orchid". Please don't judge them by that.
Yeh, Cardinal Phink!?? Definition of a filler.
PEZZO MAGNIFICO.
GREAT BAND...... MY FAVOURITE IN 1977 !!
I had this ep. Epic. Saw them live. Epic.
