    Do any of your coworkers have children in the circus? My husband and I are ex professional figure skaters currently training in arial hoop/moon/pole and inline skate. We have very young kids whom are also in the arts. Wondering if people continue their careers after kids

    • @EllenHenry0

      Hey Natasha yeah so many artists have kids. At this circus there's a couple kids now (at the time of writing this) and even in contemporary circus shows people have kids. Performers always range in age with some of the most professional high earning artists being older.

    When i first saw this chanel i thought there would be 1000s of comments - But there are few comments for some reason - For some reason i had decided to look up livng quarters for circus workers - That led me to this channel - this gal should be a insperation to many women - The type of work i did for yrs was dangerous there was an inherited risk working in the offshore oilfields - Many spent there time off drinking down there stress aquired offshore - so that type of work is not for every one - What she is doing is definitely not for every one - Its very hard to live on the go - also there is an inherited risk in her occupation - You realy have to master anxiety or it will torment a person - She has to stay focused all the time - in my occupation the older seasoned hands knew who was focused when they were on the job - There many that lost there lives over the yrs in the offshore oilfields simply because they were not focused - Most of that at one time was termned mental transmutation - i had spent time programing industrial computers - you can not delete an entry you can only Re-enter a different input of information were a input might have been deleted - The average person should master replacing bad thougts with good thoughts or memories - good thoughts in time become far stronger than bad thoughts or memories - (intrusive thoughts) - When you watch videos of her working out she is 100% focused - then when she is infront of a audance she tunes them out and becomes 100% focused - As she focuses in on her act the audiance will follow sute and focus on her act or performance - I know these things because if i require the attention of say 100 men as i focus on what i intend to convey to them they will focus on me and listen to me attentively - I raised two boys from 4&5 as a single parent many told me single parent kids dont come out well - i "said" my sons will do well in life - They graduated highschool with 5.0 grades - by the time they were 30 they were self employed & exstreamly well off financially - they both been married over 15 yrs with familys of there own - i stayed "focused" as i raised them -

    Im older im 68 - i spent many of my yrs in the offshore and remote mountain oilfields in the US - Like your bussiness many see it as romantic and exciting - in my case i was a offshore oil & gas systems tech - That simply means i was rarely home - i might get off a few days every 3 or 4 months - i know what it is like to live on the go - I also went to a boarding school as a kid lol - as far as im concerned my life came out good enough - The word wealthy means to be in good health and of a sound mind - At one point i did have diffrent serious health problem - i had learned the value of micronutrients - in the end after giving my body the nessary micronutrients and eating the right foods my heath is about fully restored - At 68 my blood pressure is often 115/70 - im back to were i can split my fire wood by hand all day - As for mental health i deal with very little anxiety - Im from a 500 yr line of writers - my dad was a publisher and i was groomed to be a writer also but went in a diffrent direction - Half of my unckles went to sea at 5 yrs old on briggs and most were captains of ships by the time they were 15 or so - The oilfields had a romanic appeal to me so i went for the oilfields over writing lol - In the the 70s i had been through 4 blow outs so i was coined a good offshore hand lol - i have no PTSD lol - Ill share more latter - i have enjoyed your videos there really good - i like them - ill share some things ive learned about mental health and micronutriens that i have learned in my journey in life, in another ppst later on, i hope it will help you and others -

    Great video & important topic! 👍 I like to do a lot of streching when I'm on my period, I feel so much more flexible then. On the other hand, sometimes when on my period, I skip HS training all together; somehow I feel very clumsy and my coordination is simply off when I have my period. This used to frustrade me alot and I tried to force myself through my usual training... Luckily came to my senses and realised there's no point to make myself feel bad, I'm not losing my skills if I take a 2-3 day break once a month...

    I always wonder about these extreme athletes whether they have awareness of the degenerative effects of constant extreme repeated back flexion (affecting back disks particularly lumbar) and extensions (affecting the facet joints). For example, like any material the outer shell of a lumbar disc (annulus fibrosus) may wear out (like a tempered piece of plastic) then rupture at some future point causing herniation and all the neurogenic issues that then come with that. No matter how strong you are, fit you are, biomaterial failure probably can be an issue for these athletes, though not an issue in short-term , could be and issue requiring injury management later in life. Of course, there is always a sample pool of athletes to pull from should a performer be side-lined so for the company like Cirque du Soleil it isn't an issue,, but for individual athletes it is. Given Cirque du Soleil has a presence , a base in Canada do the director, therapists of this company ever consult say Dr Stuart McGill from University of Waterloo who specializes in understanding the back injuries of high performance athletes? How common are these injuries with circus performers? Of course to get a full picture one would have to have information on the athletes that had to leave circus because of injuries sustained, ie, not just talk to the athletes left standing, the ones with 'surviver' bias.

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly I’m just one person so asking me this question probably won’t get you the answer you are looking for. It is complex topic as companies (that aren’t huge) aka most circus companies don’t have a traveling physio or even someone that they refer athletes to. Performers must take into account how much they charge for things like this, this is why it’s so important that performers are getting paid enough. I could rabbit on about this for waaay too long but you get the idea

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually athletes who get to the stage of performing professionally have purposely chosen this career so yes most of us know that their are risks to our body, but I feel like this comes from anything say eg on the opposite end of the spectrum is someone who sits in an office job 9-to-5, and they are also gonna be at risk of particular injuries as well

    I want to be a circus performer but I have a pet cat. Is it possible to have my cat around as a circus performer or would she have to be left with somebody while I'm away?

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 ปีที่แล้ว

      it really depends on the circus you join. I know traveling circuses in Aus allow pets. Chat to the circus you are joining. Also depends on how you think your cat will cope with living inside a small space - caravan

    Congratulations! It was my childhood fantasy to work one day in a circus. I was watching you and admire the workout you need for such a tough job! Nowadays in Europe we don't have have circuses. Especially in Greece where I live. PS .How strong you are!!!! I always wanted to know what are your last thoughts before stage?

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aww thank you 😊 your so sweet. Haha I love my workouts and the fact that I get to workout as a part of my job. That’s so sad there aren’t any traditional circuses in Greece ☹️ do you have theatres that put on different types of shows? Hehe yes I’ve been told I’m quite strong gotta be for the aerials I do 😝 umm last thoughts usually are to enjoy getting to be on stage performing 🤩

    Next time u do a handstand, don't put ur head back; just put ur head 4ward.

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 ปีที่แล้ว

      why?

    • @surprise3940
      @surprise3940 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, you can put your head *way* back. Not too far back, though.

    • @EllenHenry0
      @EllenHenry0 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@surprise3940 yeah you can put your head back (towards base of palm or further) it’s called a view change. I actually love these kind of handstands because they are incredibly challenging. Ideal positioning for handstands which I have covered before (for anyone doing handstands, unless you are working on view changes, is to look in between your hands 🙌🏻

    • @Kontan_Oyadi
      @Kontan_Oyadi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EllenHenry0 Hey, mostly the entrance, the kick up and the holding long on handstand. If I have a good entrance to the handstand, then I am able to the tucked and then go back to the straight handstand..

      @@Kontan_Oyadi ahh interesting, so having a consistent successful kick up? thanks for the insight
