Feeling Guilty About Holiday Baking on the Carnivore Diet
Do you feel guilty about not participating in your family holiday traditions of baking because you are enjoying the amazing benefits of a keto or carnivore diet? I have found many mothers really struggle with guilt about not baking with their children anymore because of their new lifestyle. Let’s have a conversation about it!

    I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant and have been on the meat based keto diet. Carnivore Got me pregnant but decided to have squash onions and mushrooms sometimes but it’s mostly just meat and dairy. Just wondering how labour went and post partum healing period? This is my first baby and I know this is your third and everyone’s different but wondering if you heal quicker with our diet and if we have a good labour due to our diet

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Congratulations 🎉 babies are such a blessing! I can say that my labor was the same the 4th time around as it was with all my previous kids. So I’m not much help there. I go quick once it really starts. As far as postpartum healing, I feel it depends on how well you are in shape while pregnant and if you tore during delivery. I’m 10 weeks postpartum now and I still have 10 pounds to lose. Usually by now I would have had the weight off but I’m 36 now and my last baby was when I was 29, so I’m thinking it’s because I’m older. Either way, I’m not worried about it. I do but don’t think the carnivore diet will help postpartum. It will help with getting you and your baby everything you need for nutrition but if you have a hard delivery with trama, your body will heal as fast as it can, diet or no diet. I wish you a lifetime of blessings with your new baby and a safe, easy delivery! ❤

    I've also had success with sourdough bread (literally flour, salt, and water) because the fermenting process breaks down the flour/gluten and makes it easier to digest. I've done Christmas tree loaves and given them to family as gifts which they LOVED. So, holiday baking doesn't necessarily have to involve sugar and can still be relatively healthy without triggering the sweet cravings. ❤️ 🌲 Merry Christmas!

    I went keto for Thanksgiving. I added artichokes and asparagus. If I were to do any sweet, it would probably be like a chocolate mousse made with monk fruit and erythritol. But sweets definitely trigger me to want more sweets. I also noticed when I drink a glass of wine or two that I crave chocolate. I am going to my mom's for Christmas, but I cannot eat regular sweets like she does, and that's okay.

    After 10 months of totally strict carnivore and feeling amazing, I suddenly developed night time leg cramps. I tried everything that was suggested here and elsewhere. The treatment that finally helped me, was eating 3 or 4 stalks of boiled or in butter sautéed celery every day. I've taken as little as two stalks and it still works for a few days but ultimately the dose for me is 4 stalks. Works 100% of the time. 3 yrs on carnivore and celery and doing great.

    Isn't Deli Meat processed food???

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s processed in so far as it is ground up meat and put back together in a form that can be slice thin and sometimes has added spices. Deli mean has been very demonized by mainstream media as not being good for you but it’s perfectly fine and has a place in a keto diet as long as it is not your primary protein source.

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Deli meat is only processed in so far as that it is ground up meat and shaped into a form that can be sliced and has added spices. That’s it. Egg white tortillas are a slightly processed food but definitely be made fresh and not be “processed”. The egg life wraps I buy only have 3 ingredients.

    Your descriptions in your first pregnancy video and this one are IDENTICAL to mine-even down to the gallbladder attacks! I was keto/mostly carnivore before my first pregnancy. When the morning sickness struck, it was either give in to carbs or fast...and I was so determined to stay keto that I nearly fasted for days. The only keto friendly food that I could stomach a nibble of was raw broccoli. 😆 I was so sick that I couldn't get out of bed..stopped going to school, nearly lost my job...Finally, my husband couldn't take it anymore and asked what carb I wanted. I knew immediately that I was desperately craving oatmeal with peanut butter and butter. The relief when I finally ate carbs was immense. (And no, I'm not diabetic.) Like you, the aversions subsided in the second trimester, and I was able to cut way back on carbs again. I did keep some berries and almond butter in my diet. However, the real struggle returned when I tried to go animal based while breastfeeding. I became so hypoglycemic every time I tried that I couldn't even safely hold my baby. I would wake up in the middle of the night shaking, drenched in sweat, and later vomiting every time I'd completely eliminate carbs. I've since had four more babies. I've breastfed and/or been pregnant for the last 8 years, and I've tried many times to go back to some variation of animal based, but I just can't seem to do it...Maybe I'll have better luck someday when I'm not pregnant OR breastfeeding.

    For some people drinking to much water is what is causing your cramps, you're literally flushing out all the minerals in your body, cut back on the water, drink a small cup of water with a quarter scoop of celtic sea salt and add a electrolyte a day and all your cramps will go away.. trust me.

    I am getting sharp hypnic jerks in my upper left leg. Starts when I lay down for falling asleep. I found that I can lay down any time and relax my body by concentrating, and the same jerk happens. If I keep focusing on releasing in to relaxation I can trigger this sharp jerk multiple times per minute. I dont know what to do.

    I used some that a friend had and it definitely helped, (didn't fix it ...but helped it) but KETO CHOW is waaaay too proud of that stuff.... the price is too high for me. Between the cost of LMNT and everything else I have to take + adding this stuff... It's going to cost me hundreds of dollars a month. If this is the proper human diet why does our body suffer so badly when we are on it? I mean, if we're eating the way we should be eating ..our body should be happy about it... It shouldn't be going into stomach cramps and diarrhea and / or constipation and calf and leg cramps etc etc etc.. I'm really beginning to doubt this way of eating. So far this healthy way of eating has been nothing but expensive and painful.

      I don’t have to drink LMNT now that I’m doing the mineral drops from Keto Chow. Just do what you can afford.

    As a teacher, I have met some kids who have been homeschooled with this approach. Currently one is in 5th grade. He’s bright but doesn’t know how to read. Doesn’t know letter sounds. Homeschooling is woefully under regulated and many kids slip through the cracks missing an education entirely because the person homeschooling them doesn’t realize the effort required to do that or doesn’t want to put forth the effort. Some homeschooling kids are superb and have excellent education but it’s not all kids.

      I definitely appreciate your viewpoint. 😊 You are right some parents are very lax and that can lead to poor outcomes. But truly interest led learning shouldn’t be neglectful . I don’t agree with government school standards and when a child should or should not learn a certain skill like reading when they are ready. But a parent should not neglect their duty to keep some structure and facilitate learning in a constructive way. If you teach reading, writing, and math at a gentle easy pace, anyone can learn anything with the guidance of an adult. There will be flaws with any approach to teaching but it’s our job as the caretakers of our children to see them, and make sure we don’t fall into the trap of neglect. Im kids thrive with a little bit of structure in reading, writing, history and math. The we take everything else as interest lead learning. Works awesome for us! But you are correct, there are 2 sides to the coin and anything can be taken to extremes. 😊 Great comment!

    OMGosh I have the same issue, drank electrolytes (tons), drinking tons of water, and the leg cramps that rip from my groin to my knees are excruciating!!! Only at night so my sleep wake patterns are messed up! I'm checking out the comments below about the boron supplements because something has to give! 3 months on carnivore and even during the day my ribs, sometimes arms, eye twitching....I hope the boron helps!

    Many of us are deficient prior to this diet, but it doesn't show up until we drastically change our diet. I had cramps long before I even knew of Keto or Carnivore diets. I also learned while doing this WOE, though I added salt, I wasn't using quite enough. And to take a daily vitamin with the trace minerals we must have. Take them with a meal, and with enough Fat to absorb them. I did Keto first, then progressed to Carnivore. By taking that route, It gave me some resources some of you may not have. ketogains is a site that has these things worked out and though it is Keto, it still applies to us here. Low carb is low carb, ours is just without plants. So don't be a snob, and be willing to learn and it will bless you. Luis Villasenor has been doing this for over two decades, so he knows about this Low Carb WOE as much as anyone out there. It's free info to use, so I am going to share the "Must have keto Supplements" page to help. It helped me and my cramps. www.ketogains.com/2016/08/ketogains-seven-must-supplements/

    Thank you for the extensive flip through. Do you feel the teachers instructional manual is necessary or can you just invest in the student workbook? I work outside the home and homeschool this is why I ask. I have 7th grader and 10th grader.

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because I have not really done this program extensively yet and I’m not that amazing at math, I would say get the teacher manual. It will explain the concept fully for you and the student. the student book is just practice problems. So if it’s a new concept you both don’t know, you won’t know how to teach it.

    what was a subject or lesson you struggled teaching your kids? for me its spelling and history

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      honestly, I haven’t had any struggles in the actual teaching on anything because the curriculum I use is very straight forward. But what’s I can say I have struggled with is the extreme emotions my kids could get toward a difficult lesson. The anger, perfectionism, lack of motivation, tears, etc. That is something that I never experienced in public school. you just did the work even if you didn’t get it. but at home, the kids feel safe and will let the feelings out. So that has been a struggle to try to be nurturing when I’m feeling impatient.

      @@robertsontribe I know exactly what your talking about! My daughter gets the worst anger out burst when it comes to school sometimes and some times I can’t seem to avoid it or curb it.
