Japanese Streamliners (Volume 23) Engine 981
this upload is intended for those whom follow Japanese Steam Streamliners & in particular the most prominent of all Japanese Streamliners, Kawasaki engine 981
the Japanese South Manchurian Railway Mantetsu Pashina Class パシナ engine パシナ981 later on this engine was renumbered in Mantetsu's 1938 general renumbering to engine パシナ12 and was a different version to the other eleven engines from this Pashina Class パシナ numbered パシナ1 to パシナ11.
after experiments in the Kawanishi Aircraft Company's wind tunnel testing facilities in Japan the streamlining shape of this engine was then redesigned to improve the engines top speed capabilities, the engine was then constructed in Japan in 1936 by Kawasaki & was then tested on the South Manchurian Railway network & a top speed of 106mph was reached, this is the unofficial Japanese record holder for steam traction.
film footage is from my 8mm reels & is entirely all filmed in Japanese controlled Manchuria, I converted it into a digital format back in 2018, it has been heavily modified altered & Colored by myself, it is all my modified Copyright ©

      No, B&O 5300 was the only one that was saved, its in the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, she was named after your first President George Washington & is in a un-streamlined standard form.

      @@AlexThePatriot you are fortunate to live in the United States as no other country in the world ever produced so many classes of Beautiful Streamlined Steam Locomotives, your country also produced the Largest, most Powerful & the Fastest Steam Locomotives that the world has ever seen, British Steam pales into insignificance compared to the might of US steam engines.

    Wonderful video, some of the eariler designs are very unique. If we count the conical extension of the smokebox door and the wedge shaped cab as streamlining, I would add in a couple extra steam locomotives, from Hungary, mainly the MÁV class 203 (a 4-4-2 atlantic built between 1906-1908), the MÁV class 301 (4-6-2 pacific, built between 1911-1914), the MÁV class 327 (4-6-0s, built between 1912-1914) and the MÁV class 328 (also a 4-6-0, built between 1919-1922). Even so I'm happy at least our Coffin has made it into the video at 5:50

    This is so thorough! I wondered if you were going to include New Zealand's J and K class, and there they were! Some pretty dubious "streamliners" in this family gallery (I include our box-fronted K class!), but what a major effort to collect every locomotive with some claim to streamline elements,including of course the classics, those magnificent and stylish and justifiably famous symbols of their Era! Nice work- thanks for doing this!

    Do some of these engines really count as streamlined? The cab forward and tank engines weren’t really made for speed

    • @StreamlinedSteamLocomotives
      @StreamlinedSteamLocomotives ปีที่แล้ว

      Cab forward BR05 003 had a designed top speed of 175 km/h, her sister class engine (non cab forward) 05 002 also had a designed top speed of 175 km/h but reached 201 km/h. The BR61 001 reached 187 km/h and BR61 002 had a designed top speed of 175 km/h, then there's the Japanese Manchurian engines 500 and 501 which both reached 160 km/h in regular hauled train services, also there is the Hungarian MÁV Class 242 which reached 168 km/h, these five mentioned engines were all tank locomotives.

    * This is my third attempt with this video, after scrutinizing every single detail of this upload I can now confirm that the chronological order of these locomotives is correct, it is one-hundred percent accurate, the two misplaced engines are now in there correct position, the Soviet engine P36 0001 dated at 1952, it is in fact from 1950, I will leave it as it is as the chronological evolution of streamlined steam locomotives has no errors. all of my reels & tapes from my collection of film footage & all of my modifications done in all of these film footages in all of my uploads in this account is all copyrighted © ''Streamlined Steam Locomotives'' (2018) is not and will never be affiliated with any other channel.

    At 0:19 is a picture of the First American Chess Congress, photograph taken November 1857, Reverend Dr. Samuel Calthrop is standing third from the left facing towards the cameraman. At 0:22 is Reverend Dr. Samuel Robert Calthrop at age 28 just eight years before he patented the “Air Resisting Train” (Bullet Train) in 1865. He lived close to 65 years in the United States, thereby becoming fully American, he was loved by all whom meet this brilliant man, you can find more about him on the web..........this upload is dedicated to the Great man as he was one hundred years ahead of his time.
