Process and Filter Data in Power Automate
มุมมอง 5373 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we'll take a data source (Excel), pull in the data, filter it, select only a couple columns, and output that information in a csv file. You can apply this to sending KPI's over email to different facilities, pulling in data from SQL or any other datasource, and doing transformations. I show you how you could do it in an apply to each loop, but then show you how you can improve it ...

Hi, Tried to remove "automate" but still displaying automate with dropdown menu called "Rules". Any ideas why it isn't working?
Mast solution, Loved it..!
Excellent video!
This is GOLD!! Thank you so much for posting this. This is simply amazing and simple.
And I thought you will be showing how to do that with sharepoint. But you used power apps
Any help how to hide New item when embedding new item form to SharePoint page
Still struggling with this 2 years after your video. My issue, if I don't remove the values EVERY TIME before deploying (->Power Platform Pipeline), it will "brick" the managed solution in my target environment. That's not to say the solution won't work anymore, but I won't be re-deploy the solution anymore after that - it will always display a weird error "can't insert duplicate key". My only option is to deleted the managed solution, just like you had to do. This is kind of dangerous! Luckily in my case it's just a TEST environment, but should I forget to delete the values when deploying to a PROD environment, I may be in deep trouble. There IS now a new feature that didn't exist when you made the video. Below the Current Value, there is now a slider: "Export values" Yes/No. I can't seem to set the slider to the No position, it will always jump back to yes. I hope this will get fixed soon...
Great explanation!
Dude i love u i was looking for ages thanks a lot
I gotchu!
Does anyone know how to hide the (new-ish) "Forms" button in lists? I did the same as OP and added all of the command keys into my view formatting, but the "Forms" button stayed and all others disappeared. Thanks!
I have the same issue
{ "key": "manageForms", "hide": true }
Wow very helpful. Need to watch again and get the fixes for them all. I didn't quite get what you said in the last thought - have the flow write to a table and get the value from the table? No work around for when a deleted flow remains? No work around for the user's credentials used to update a SharePoint list? (I'll add to this later). My main problem is that I'm done with my app. Then, in an effort to make it portable and managed - I believe this requires an environment variable because I believe, that the data sources cannot be updated. So I created a solution > added the app > added the environment variables for the site and two lists and now it says the app is premium. :( (We are NOT allowed to use Premium.) I believe the only way is to drop the environment variables and flows and make it unmanaged so that the datasources can be updated after moving to production. I'm pretty sure that some of my verbiage is exposing my ignorance. Pretty new here.
Hey, thanks for watching! Here are a couple of thoughts that might help: The last thought I meant to use Power Apps to patch a row to a table, then have a flow that triggers when a new item is created on the table. For example, rather than having a flow that makes bulk changes to a SharePoint list be triggered directly from the app, instead have the Power App patch directly to a SharePoint list and includes all of the information needed to make the bulk updates, then trigger a flow off of that row creation. But you're right, if the change needs to be done using the triggering user's credentials you may need to trigger directly from the app. You may be able to spoof it by making a HTTP call with SharePoint. Might be worth checking it out. If you add the Environment Variables table to the app, it is a Dataverse table so it sets the app as Premium. However, you should be able to add a connection to SharePoint and specify the environment variable instead of a direct link to the SharePoint site or list. I've been successful using environment variables for SharePoint data sources in Canvas Apps and having them still be standard and not premium. Hope that helps!
@@TheFlowHawk I'm trying that now. Thank you for the confirmation that it is possible to keep it standard.
@@TheFlowHawk Wow! This was it. I now have connections using the Environment variables and it required no app updates to all the formulas and is STANDARD license. Steps 1) Deleted my data source connections (they were directly to SharePoint) (do this first so when recreating the names will be correct as referenced all over the app) 2) Added data source back but when selecting the SharePoint Site use the Advanced Tab which presents you with the Environment Variables. No filters accessing the lists had to be updated. Zero App updates. Sorry, this isn't what the video was about but your response is gold.
@@Loves-f3y glad you got it sorted!
truly nice.
Thanks for watching!
I have a nintex form button. How do i hide it?
Is it possible to also hide the "All Items" button? I'm trying to set up a config for the employee to only see the lines his assigned to, but the one thing I still can't hide is the "All Items" dropdown, which will allow him to access the view with everything Thanks for the great vid, it was very helpful
Very cool! I just have 1 important question then, is it possible to do that while hiding the option of changin the View on the right? I need to know this because I want certain people to give them right to Edit, delete or create things in the list, but not go and play with and know the Views. Thank you in advance!
Hi How can I disable right click on SharePoint list to disable context menu. All actions are visible on right click of sharepoint. So a smart user can right click and do what he wants to
Hi Brian thanks a million! though I need to go one further step: I'm trying to share a view that's filtered based on who's visiting the list (so showing only items where column 'Manager' is equal to [Me]). My problem is that I haven't found in your code a way to hide the 'Clear filters' button, and there's even a statement of filters being applied that users can easily remove and see all the rest of the list (which renders what I'm doing useless). Any thoughts? thanks!!
How can I hide entire Command bar, is there any specific trick?
Thanks for the video. Is it possible to open the power app's form on the same tab ?
So far the best alternative is to set the form to Edit and then set all individual cards to view ( not very elegant and time consuming with long forms but at least it's a work around)
Brilliant & detailed Thank you FlowHawk
Glad you enjoyed it!
U r great
🙏
Please make more videos on JSON! This was great. I particular I'd be interested in how to add custom form designs to these controls. Thank you again for this helpful tip.
Hi! Nice and useful tip! I’m quite new to SharePoint world, so apologies for this very basic question 😊. While sharing the list with a member of my organisation, how can I force him/her to this kind of view (the one with the ?env=embedded + some changes on the ribbon I did thru the advanced formatting tips)? I was not able to find a specific setting for this thru the sharing options. By normally sharing, the user is getting the “default” link to view. Thank you very much for any support!
Thanks Man!
You're welcome!
Very helpful videos. Please don't stop making videos.
I have a few more in the works, thanks for the encouragement!
Awesome.. thanks for the video
You're welcome!
Same here, button seems unclickable...but very short-sighted of MS to think that because we are in view mode in a form, no one would need/want to click an item (ie hyperlink, popup, etc)
did you figure it out?
The app form looks great but the launch command seems to be randomly launching the form whenever I change views within the list, what could be causing this and how can I stop it. Thanks
ohhh... that shit works! Thank You!!!
$$$
how about on a gallery ?
Hi, nice tip.. But what if i want to display only the "Site logo" on top header
Buttons in PowerApps Canvas Custom Cards seams also not clickable...
Hi! Is there any possible workaround for the Save button? I used at OnSuccess -> Set(varURL, "myURL"); Launch(varURL); in order to navigate to the homepage but when i clicked it load at another new tab and also at the current tab. How to make it load the homepage on the current tab only? Thank you. Also your video helped me solve my problem on the Cancel button.
Hey Sofia! Launch() can send the user wherever you’d like, but in a SharePoint form you can only use the target of “New”, meaning launching the URL in a new tab. What I usually do is navigate to a success screen in the app AND launching your homepage url in a new tab. The “Source” method I mention in the video defines the navigate path for the Cancel action. However, I believe it also determines where you will navigate when using the “RequestHide()” command. So you could add this url as the source parameter and use "RequestHide()" in the OnSuccess of the form.
Thank you, this really helped me!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Exactly the video I needed. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Very usefull video.. I have to migrate tons of infopath forms to PowerApp
A lot of the design work is the same, but some major differences--especially with the Infopath xml libraries. All of the metadata stored in those files have to migrated to SharePoint columns. Good luck!
life savior , thank you
Glad to help! Thanks for commenting!
Hi, I set the datacard contains the button to Edit mode in Display form. still not clickable
How do I hide the lists in the left side ribbon?
Very informative and helpful. By way of an update I think MS may have changed something. Now, if you forget to remove the current value and export with it in, then import ( a second time, having set it for your target environment the first time) it no longer errors. It appears to just "ignore" it. Which is good because it means that the 1st time you can set it for your target, then put the value back in to your source variable and not worry about it. That's the behavior I'm seeing anyway. The purpose/point of the "Default Value" and the possibility of having Multiple values still remains a mystery !!
Thanks for the update Philip! I didn't know that had changed!
Awesome content, those are hidden gems! 💎
Tucked away further than they should be!
I am using sharepoint new form link in another page but by default it is showing new item at top how to hide new item at the top.
great video thank you!
You're welcome!
Used json for the link so added target=_self so it doesn't open in new window. Thanks again for your help
Did this allow you to update the current tab to the url? I was under the impression that SharePoint forms did not support the target self in the Launch() or as a url parameter.
Thank you for this! Going crazy trying to figure out a solution
Glad you found it useful!
anyone get this to work with Launch("xxx", , Replace)? It would be ideal to keep from opening new windows with every edit/view/new that need to be closed.
Very nice - But what about the front page - how to hide the left site ribbon? So the user can't see it
Thanks for this info. Pls what do I set to false in order to see the search bar. I still want to be able to search the list.
There is nothing magical that can hide everything by the search bar, but you can try some of the other query tricks (learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/community/query-string-url-tricks-sharepoint-m365) also try adding "?env=WebViewList" to the end of your URL, which puts it in Microsoft Lists mode.
Thanks, this video helped a lot. I have a question. Is there any way I can center the form on the screen? With this method, the form is in full screen, but infortunatelly, it seems to be left-aligned on the screen.
Unfortunately there is not a way currently to make a SharePoint form centered on the screen. It all comes down to the fact that SharePoint forms cannot read the screen size of the viewer. It will unfortunately always be left-aligned. If you can, I would recommend building a stand-alone power app instead (which can read screen sizes).
