Interprétation Absolument magnifique
@@zwinfr6331 thank you!
A flawless performance by Mr. Hovencamp !! But I have a question. Is it just me or does this organ (as big as it is) seem to have No Color??? Rather, it seems that it only speaks in black & white. Where's the "color" that I expect to hear on sonorities as BIG as this piece? Who voiced this organ anyway? It sound quite "sterile". Does anyone else hear it too? Even the trumpets are like Very dry martinis. Dry dry dry ! I wonder if it might be the accoustics of the building that are absorbing the tonal colors of the organ? I would love to hear some other opinions on this. It would seem that this should be a fabulous (new-ish) organ installation. But the Ruffatti at the (former Crystal Cathedral) (now Christ Cathedral) to my ear has 5 times the color of this Dobson. Do I need a hearing test?? (lol)
I think that the "color" you speak of would come from the performer in their choice of registration and phrasing. That said, Dobson organs in general seem to have a lack of warmth to me, not that it bothers me, in fact every recording of this particular organ has brought me pleasure.
Уникално изпълнение на уникален инструмент! Много красиво и прочувствено!
Спасибо
that is where part of Whiter shade of Pale comes from
It is indeed. I saw Procul Harum live when I was a kid.
Why are there mirrors on the console?
Probably to see the choir and the conductor that are standing behind the organist, at least that's the case on the organ that i play
Actually, it’s so you can see when you’re being overtaken by a faster organist. 😋

Thanks Thomas. Best regards!
Vielen dank!
Prachtig !
Such Quality
Thank you!
Beautifully sung; I have not heard this for many years!!

This has long been a favorite of mine to play for worship. Your performance was sensitively executed. ☺️
Thank you!
Such a beautiful and useful organ work, especially if used sometime prior to the singing of Manz' choral setting, a most wonderful work for Advent, Christmas, or Epiphany.
Lovely voice, and a true alto. Nice job!
This gentleman understands this piece like few other players. He is in tune with the the emotional and psychic power contained in the structural elements like the long pedal point on 'G' and, as another person has commented, the terrific impact of the sudden Eb Major chord, as well as many other moments when he pulls back the tempo just a little for emphasis or to illumine an important cadence....This was the final piece on my MM recital at Eastman, so I know it well. Bravo!! Mr. Hovencamp.
Thank you most kindly!
Exquisite
Thank you!
This has long been one of favorite pieces to play in recital or for worship services. Beautifully played.
Thank you!
Incredible piece, incredible instrument, incredible performance!
One of my favorits from bach. Thank you for your great performance!
Thank you!
Absolutely incredible dude. Tournemire is so underrated, thanks for bringing attention to these insane pieces. You play the hell out of it too
Thanks Thomas. I'm crazy for Tournemire.
I love the thunderous part on the pedal organ on 0:58 but surprisingly he kicked in those powerful chamades again on 1:27. This must be the best organ videos I’ve ever listened to. The best chamades I have ever heard cause they are very loud and they sound similar to herald trumpets playing in a fanfare in the king’s coronation in England.
Thank you very kindly!!
Also on 2:44 I adore the melody on the pedal organ especially on 2:52 where he adds the scary sounded Contra Bombarde 32’ stop to create an entertaining music display. ❤️🎶🎵
On 0:18 is where those powerful chamades start to come in. And also again on 4:47 to finish the piece. Note: At the end on 5:12 the full organ including the chamades.
Beautifully done!
Sensitive interpretation of this lovely work. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Outstanding performance. Flawless. I love to come back to this version over and over, by Mr Hovenkamp, to hear how Tu E’s Petra should be clearly and cleanly executed with perfect unrushed tempo in my view.
Thanks Joe!
Thank you for this performance.
Thank You pumasgoya!
Dauert alles soo lange... orgeldownsyndrom.... spiel doch einfach die musik. ..
Interesting to listen to this recital. I am more than curious to know what Robert thoughts are on this Dobson organ. I am equally curious what other organ builders, especially Casavant Frères, Quimby Pipe Organs or Marshall & Ogletree would have done with this construction and how different it might have been. It is one thing to listen in person to hear the full acoustics as opposed to a recording. It is an interesting instrument but it never grabbed my complete attention as something spectacular.
I'm very fond of this instrument, and I think Dobson did a terrific job on it. It fills the enormous room perfectly, has everything an organist can possibly want, and the en Chamade trumpets are spectacular.
Sensational performance. Perfect tempo and execution. Outstanding. More! More!
Thank you!
Outstanding performance...outstanding organ!!
where can i find the music to this beautiful piece - i have tried all over to no avail
In a collection called Virgil Fox at the Organ. www.amazon.com/At-Organ-Virgil-Fox-Gray/dp/0769241921
This is a very ominous and yet beautiful piece, to play this is so comforting and relaxing, I just wish there was more to Komm Susser Tod, I wish that Bach wrote this piece longer. I want this played at my funeral visitation someday.

meraviglioso, una eccellenza per l'udito e la per la contemplazione della bellezza

Glad to have chances on this soothing recording. I recently studied this piece and never tire of it. Magnificent playing on a favorite instrument. Loved the tempo and registration.
Thanks so much, Francois!
Bravissimo. 🌟🌟🌟🎹🎵🌈
Wonderful Performance!!!!! Very hard piece too!
it's kinda funny how the people in the church proably do not know the name of the song and they just keep praying like nothing
