    Is the material nylon on the outside? Sweaty in summer? I like the flanny material on the coleman bags for summer as its not so sweaty underneath but considering this for all year round. Thoughts?

      @johnvivian1193 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest I sleep on top of it in summer because I’m a hot sleeper, but I find it very comfy and not sweaty. The internal black layer is flannel and the others I believe are nylon or polyester, I’ve struggled to find that info myself. I do highly recommend this for year round use 👍 Stay Ordinary 🇦🇺

      @@johnvivian1193 thanks for that. It’s an interesting one because most camping is in warmer weather but it’s a pain to own two sleeping bags for diff seasons. I find it surprising you don’t sweat on top of it. Is the very top single layer nice and thin for those cooler summer nights like 15 degrees celcius? Still slightly too cold for no bag at the beach for me

      @@Snook_ I bought that swag 12 years for $200 on sale and the canvas is still going strong. The straps broke from going stale in the shed and the elastic inside the poles did the same, but that was all easy to fix. I bloody love that swag, I have a big double swag too but I find it takes up too much room for just me. If this one ever dies I would definitely look into a new crashpad swag because they do look awesome

    i hate 270 awnings that are too weak to not have pole's . Shit product

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dicky O, Unfortunately not everyone can afford the price tag for a freestanding 270 awning, hence why the large portion of the 270 awnings require a few poles. That’s why I didn’t compare this awning to more expensive freestanding awnings, as far as 270 awnings with poles go, this one is great for the money. Stay Ordinary Dicky

    Heh mate. I have a Toyota fortuner and finding a 270 to work with lifting tailgate and spoiler is nightmare. This seems a solution and a quality product. How you found it now after using some time? Do you think lifting tailgate it will fit under? Great content keep it up just subscribed thanks

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phil, I guess it will all depend on how high you mount your awning vs how high your tailgate lifts up. If it lifts higher then the awning then you’ll have a problem. Could you possibly create a steel cable that restricts the tailgate from opening 100%, therefor allowing the awning to open freely? You can also purchase conversion straps for this awning that turn it into a 180 awning when you don’t want to use the back section of the awning, that may suit your requirements also. I haven’t had a wagon with a lifting tailgate so I’m honestly just brainstorming, please let me know how you go! Stay Ordinary

    I'm really interested to see how the roof rack and awning are mounted to that canvas canopy. Does it not leak? Could you send some close up pics of that?

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, I’ll get some pictures for you when I have the chance! My roof rack brackets sit directly on the canvas with a steel frame underneath, I very carefully drilled holes through the canvas and frame to mount it. I have sealed the area with silicone and I haven’t had any leaking problems! But in saying that, I live in a part of Australia that doesnt get very bad rain so I’m unsure how it would be around other places in the world 🌎 As for the awning, it is mounted directly onto the roof rack 👍 Cheers, Stay Ordinary!

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chucky, Yes you’re correct about the extra flap, it is connected using the P-rail slot that can be transferred to the back. My ‘pick-up bed tent’ is a custom made steel frame and canvas cover. Are you in North America Chucky? In Australia, this type of set up is very common. Stay Ordinary

      @@TheOrdinaryExplorer hey mate, is there enough room in the bag to Velcro the other posts to the cross members and also have the arms fold in to close the bag? Just thinking of a way to get everything set up quick and not need the extra bag inside…(I know the extra poles aren’t a ball joint, I just mean strap them to the cross members for storage)

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don’t think that will be possible, the awning arms actually interlock in a particular under/over pattern so if you strapped the poles under an arm it won’t fold up correctly. I can see your thinking there tho mate

    Nice review, it's on my list, did you consider the darche?

    • @TheOrdinaryExplorer
      @TheOrdinaryExplorer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Oli, Yes the Darche was definitely considered, at the time I bought my awning, the darche was about $1200-$1400 depending on if it was on sale somewhere. So my decision was based on price in the end, the 23zero is $899 and from my experience very good quality for that price. In saying that, if I found a Darche closer to $1000, my decision would of been much more difficult! Thanks mate, Stay Ordinary!

    • @chucky882
      @chucky882 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I came across a vid about water seeping inside Darche’s bag when packed, not good...also some issues on cracked hinges. I believe this 23 zero Falcon 270 is very durable.
