My first jiu jitsu tournament ever 2023 White Belt
Tap Cancer Out Tournament competing at light heavyweight
Match ended 2-2 with my opponent winning by an advantage.
Not sure about the rules. I thought at 3:50 I would get 2 points for getting on top. Thoughts?

Both of you are better than me
@@wcrx2000 I haven’t trained in over a year. It’s not about who’s better it’s about who lasts. Keep it up!
Awesome match
How is the winner white belt with no stripe here? Doesn’t look fair
it's an even skillset between them.

I dont see the art being used it looks more like a wrestling match.
Just entered my first tournament and i’m super nervous. Only been training A little over a month once or twice a week. Mostly doing it to see where i stand and get a better feel for it. Any tips or suggestions?
How did your first tournament go? Do you have any combat experience prior to doing BJJ?
@@zibbia100 Not to well lost my first match by guillotine and second by an americana. Definitely not how i wanted but you live and learn. I trained a little in high school bjj but that was a long time ago.
@@shannonjackson3139 hey sorry to hear. Hopefully you are still working and training though! I have a very strong wrestling background from my childhood and high school and been wanting to train BJJ now that I’m in my mid twenties and need a new hobby. Wondering how I’d compare to other people in the white belt category with my background
train for at least 3-4x a week for 6 months.
@@marcusmay5461 Yeah i plan too. I’m deployed with the military and am lucky enough to have a jiujitsu club where i’m at. Just can’t go as much as i’d like due to scheduling and going to other areas we operate n and such
Awesome match. For a 5 minute match, I feel like you wasted too much time and energy in his closed guard trying to work lapel chokes. Sure, it is a quick submission that may catch someone at white belt so I see why you were going after it.
Great match. Planning on competing in December. Looking for any tips.
Make sure your cardio is on point because the adrenaline dump is insane. Focus on one or two takedowns you want to hit and make sure your guard passing is up to par!
@@joshlovsbball thank you! I also take Krav Maga and boxing at my gym, so I’m feeling good about cardio. Guard passing can be hit and miss. I know a few takedowns but I think pulling guard might be my best Option.
This was awesome
Currently do wrestling But would love to try bjj 1 day What is average age pple usually start?
Most people I would say try it in their 20s. Don’t worry about it just try it!
Excellent match! Thanks for posting 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤙🏽
Great match!
Hell yeah
Awesome match. Great effort from both opponents.
Nice back and forth!
Great job for your first tournament. 3:50 wasn't a take down because he was on his knee. If he was standing when you took him down you would have been correct and been scored 2 points. OSS
Great job to both!
watching this makes me wanna go back to competing but i'm scared now because i'm a blue belt lol and throughout my white belt i always had to move up in weight classes. still managed to place! in total of my white belt competitions I gotten three golds two silvers and two bronze i believe!
Its pretty common thing that people are less willing to compete after they get higher belts. As a white belt you feel there is nothing to lose
Good wrestling
Nice work fellas
Good job guys. That was a very close fight.
Thanks for sharing
How was the overall experience? Thinking about taking a stab at the next grappling industries tournament coming up.
It was awesome man. You’ll never regret putting it all on the line and competing
4:43 bro in the back just hit a clip
Very good job to both of you!
Thought the guy in the black gi won this tbh
Everyone doing tournies at fancy places, mine are always on an indoor soccer field
not bad for your first tournament! you had a few opportunities to easily get the guard open when standing by just putting you knee into his butt, putting pressure and pushing down on one of his legs. not sure how he won the match, but good battle.
good job
