Installing Windows!! #VanConversion Episode #003
In this Episode of our #VanConversion we installed windows into the Van. We used Carbest windows and are super happy that Reimo was willing to sponsors this project by providing us these windows and a roof hatch. Danke für den code. Endlich eine schöne lösung für die schwingsitze. Wie gehst du damit um das sie kein tüv Gutachten haben? Klappt die handbremse mal von alleine runter oder ist sie in der oberen Position arretiert?
Ich habe tatsächlich Audrio Sviwels selber bzgl. TÜV gefragt und laut Herstellerangabe hat er bereits über 100 Stück nach Deutschland verkauft und es gab nie ein Problem mit dem TÜV. Ich werde die Drehkonsolen natürlich im Zuge der Ummeldung auf eine Wohnmobilzulassung dem TÜV vorführen und kann hier anschließend meine Erfahrungen teilen. Die Habdbremse ist tatsächlich nicht arretiert aber das Scharnier ist so fest eingestellt das es sich angenehm bewegen lässt aber die Handbremse sich nicht von alleine umklappen würde.

Hi Alex, one hurdle down, on to the next😅. I decided to not swivel the driver seat to leave more space for kitchen and fridge. I thought there was a lowering kit for the brake, but these products you found on Audrio look really nice. Also, having two batteries means your van is stacked with electrics, right? There looked to be many cables under the Sitzkasten. Are you going to use that space?
Yes, I‘m super happy that the handbrake is still in it‘s original position! Besides the two batteries I‘m planning to have a third one with solar. I‘ll keep all the cables under the seat so can’t really use that space…
Are you going for Lithium? Prices are way down compared to a few years back. Feel free to ask about electricity, I have experience with an 1800w induction stove, und der braucht Saft😂.

Alex, thats funny. I joined your channel last month, and now you present to us your van build. I have my sprinter 4+ years and I'm still building, it never stops. I spend so much time, energy and money on it, crazy. BUT last september we were in Normandy and had some amazing Waves that made all the effort worth it. Nice to see the sprinter naked again. Thank you so much for your comment! We have 4 weeks to at least build a bed to sleep in haha. As soon as you can sleep at the spot and go for a surf before everyone else you know it was worth it!!

Alex, at first I wanted to give you a thumbs up for your dedication to keeping your board on the water, but then I checked your other vids and I caught you doing some silly air hops aswell. Nah... I'll cut you some slack, a little variation is allowed😅. Those waves were not so forgiving right? Or perhaps that is a little common in Cape Town? Well atleast they are steep and you charge for the sweetspot. I sometimes felt your frontfoot was a little too far back, but thats best for you to decide. Thanks for the video, and your dedication to Waves.
Haha thanks!! The waves here are pretty closeout most of the times. Still figuring out my stance for this board. My other board is way shorter and has a lot of lift in the tail so guess that’s why my stance is a bit far back… Thanks a lot for your comment and the positive feedback!

Best spot in Cape town for waves, the windsurfers can be a bit local sometimes, especially the ones from Italy.Go figure!
Was fun out there and everyone followed the rules so no stress on the water!
I live just behind Van Riebeeckstrand, i can literally walk to the spot. I love it and have had some really nice kite surfing sessions there. Haakgat is my all time favorite spot though.

Isn’t windsurfing for old people? Don’t know where you’re from but the average windsurfer in the Netherlands is 45+. Have fun on the water with the other grandpas!
Haakgat sucks. Simply to busy nowadays.
Was quite busy but everyone respected the rules so it was still fun!
On smaller days it can get pretty full, but when its really firing and gnarly the crowds disappear and you can really tear it up!

I'm going to Cape Town on February 25th and I would like to know where the best spots for kitewave?
You have many options for good waves in Cape Town, Sunset Beach, Karmas, Haakgat (more of a windsurfers place), Melkbos, Scarborough are all good places but if you stay in sunset beach or table view/Blouberg you can basically go everywhere depending on the conditions.

What's the best period to score decent waves to kite there, according to you?
I would say either autum or spring. In summer you have a lot of wind and in winter you have good waves. If you want a combination of both you should go in between.

Great riding. I think I saw you middle of February doing freestyle strapless at Kite Beach, but most of this footage appears to be at Sunset Beach, where the wind is slightly side-off and the waves form up much better. Do you ever do long downwinders? I love to ride from the lighthouse all the way to Haakgat, just turning on every wave all the way, but I don't ride with anything near your style.
