Bowie made it clear to Angie, when they got married, that she (Angie) was not going to be his "only" one. He and Ava Cherry were lovers throughout a good part of the '70s. He actually wanted to leave Angie for Ava, but for a couple of reasons, it was not feasible.

I don't know what year this is, but you can hear the making's and the sound developing for the Young Americans Album. If I were to only hear this on the radio, I would never recognize it as Bowie's voice, and I've been listening to Bowie for 50 years.

David Bowie and Ava Cherry made a great couple back in the day and later he would fall in love and marry a black beauty in famed model Iman. Bowie had no prejudice and gripe at MT V for not showing black performer videos and black performers on their show. Luther Vandross was also his backup singer during the Ava Cherry years . Bowie was just worldly person who did not have a mean bone in his body, he loved his music always changing his look and loved life his wife and family. There will never be in life another David Bowie

Luther Vandross never sang with the Main Ingredient at the Apollo Theater in 1974. Luther Vandross met David Bowie at Sigma Sound recording studios during the making of the Young Americans album. David Bowie was introduced to Luther by me( Carlos Alomar) and my wife Robin Clark who is also singing on the Young Americans album. Miss Cherry seems to have her facts mixed up.

I've always been in awe of you, Ava! Way back when, my cousin and I were two of the people who used to practically live in the lobby of the Barclay Hotel during the recording of Young Americans and we used to shuttle Carlos Alomar, Robin Clark, David Sanborn and I can't remember who else, back and forth between the hotel and Sigma Sound for the sessions. It was always funny because my car was so old, when I'd tear around a left-hand turn, the right-side passenger door would fly open and I think we almost lost Robin one time! I never got to drive you, though because you always went with David (wisely, given that you might have tumbled out onto the street during one of my left-hand turns) but we had such fun during those days! It's great to see you again and to know that you're doing so well! I loved this movie and I can't wait to see your reality show! :)
