On the last weekend of July, the town of Lake Placid hosts the Caladium Festival. A crowd drawing event that features vendors selling various souvenirs, a car show, and train excursions. Recently restored light pacific, FEC 148 is the main motive power for these runs, with one of US Sugar's diesels bringing up the rear for the return to Lake Placid. While short, these excursions provide a good look at a unique part of the USSC/SCFE system.
