In 1948 after the war Quezon city became the Philippines capital every government Building including church were being relocated Santo Domingo Church was rebuilt in Quezon city and Lourdes Church there was a plan to move the Manila Cathedral in Quezon city but many people protested so Manila Cathedral was rebuilt redesign by Ocampo many ruin churches were bulldorized in the 1960's to turn Intramuros into Nueva Manila or New Manila but did not pushed through when President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. took Office in Malacanang he saved many historical sights and created the Intramuros Administration in 1979 the first project were the wall restoration and the Plaza San Luis Complex where Casa Manila and Barbara restaurant are located those wall you see and the gates of Intramuros were all restorations this city was heavily bomded by America n air raiders Liberators so almost nothing is left except for a few cement buildings and The Baroque Church San Agustin for those other buildings you see which are out of context that does not conform to colonial style the government gave the restoration to private individuals and land owners following colonial architectural styles but most did not follow instead built Spanish inspired Architecture because of hight cost and many of the church es site were sold to private sectors like El Almacer Building where the Lourdes Church once stood the San Francisco compound sold to Mapua University these are the few reason why many of the original landmarks where not rebuilt
