Broken Cruise Cable caused Stuck Open Throttle on 2002 Mercury Sable/ Ford Taurus
The plastic mounting clip for the cruise control cable broke and got stuck on when throttle was push down hard and would not realize causing a stuck wide open throttle. I got a good replacement from the junkyard for a couple dollars however if you want to buy new there’s an amazon product that is a direct replacement just enter the product number listed below and you can find it it’s about $20 at time of this video. Easy fix for a dangerous problem here. Thanks guys and good luck!

Replace Gear Indicator Lightbulb on 2004 Chevy Classic Malibu
มุมมอง 4.3K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video of how to replace the light bulb on a 2004 Chevy Classic Malibu gear indicator in under 5 minutes. I removed the bulb with the pliers then afterward decided to make the video but didn't want to remove the same bulb twice, otherwise this was done in real-time. The two pack of bulbs was $4.99 at local auto part store. I believe this style is the same for 2000-2003 Chevy Malibu. Ch...
I think this is my problem. I will check it out in the morning. In the meantime, I'm lucky because I have a manual shift vehicle. If I had an automatic I could imagine all of the possible scenarios - it's scary ! Why in the world would manufacturers use a cheap piece of plastic instead of a threaded metal part for this function especially considering the extremely dangerous possibilities ?
volume mix between music and voice might help. Thanks.
What a total waste of time. The little amount of filler you put under the edge of the slab will sink once you have a reasonable rainfall. All that filler will wash further under the slab.
How would you know that what you threw under is enough and well distributed to have the concrete slab leveled when it's lowered?
I didnt realize how easy it is to level the sidewalk out
Thank you for this quick tutorial. Helped me replace mine.
Thanks man
This happened to me just 2 hours ago. I was lucky I survived. Same thing happened 12 years ago when a mechanic was test driving the car. I replaced the cable 12 years ago, and it broke again today. Ford really needs to address this problem. I wonder how many drivers have been killed or maimed because of this. A new cable cost $12. So there is no reason to risk your life with a used cable from the junk yard. That plastic clip is obviously a weak link, and a used cable will certainly break in due time.
When the gray plastic cracked on mine i thought nothing about repairing it with some epoxy resin. Two years later it cracked again while i was driving in traffic. It wedged the throttle wide open and i ended up warping a rotor trying to get it to stop. Needless to say i replaced the cable immediately
Those fingers are way to close to the edge for my comfort.
What device is lifting the slab?
From what I’ve seen, you can just use a couple of scissor jacks to raise the slab up.
Willing to bet the walk has cracked and re sunk by now
By the way,. Your a man. Ditch the sandles or paint your toe nails blue.
All done... didn't even have to put his f****** boots on
Thanks bro! Mine went out and I was driving blind lmao I was in 3rd Gear on the freeway going 80 and I was wondering why my RPMs were at 4000. LMAO
Good job, I especially like the steel toe sandals for doing concrete work.
Those are OSHA standard right there
Of course we all know that OSHA standards only apply to employers and not homeowners. Also, owners of companies do not have to personally comply with OSHA standards. Which I think is a travesty .
Should have just mixed a bag of concrete and shoveled in under slab!
Nice job, and like the flip flops!
Flipp flops made my day, wear work shoes, kid, you'll thank me someday!
So true! Sometimes common sense is missing
These “Florida work boots” are up to code, I often work in them lol
@@maitruongvinhI met a man who lost all the toes on one foot while wearing steel toe construction boots. He had a steel manhole cover flip around and catch his toes.
Excellent 👌
This is only temporary tho it will sink again, but it is a cheap fix and well done, but it baffles me how people can work with heavy slabs and can crush anything and you decided to do it in flip flops, really??
You're a negative little bastard
Asians have always done work in flip flops.
Bro sick video. Also where did u get that bulb, or better yet what bulb is it?
Thank you. I thought it would be more difficult. Now I'm going to do it myself!
Haha thank you for making this video fam! I also thought this cars didn't have bulb to indicate what gear you were in which was very annoying, I ended up putting a 194 LED bulb and its brighter and way better than having an incandescent bulb
Jesus H. Just dump the damn bag of sand along the edge and push it in. And put some shoes on i can smell your feet through my phone lol. Nice job otherwise
What are thoseeee 😂 not the best shoe to be wearing doing that type of work. Nice job 👍🏻
Let us know how long it lasts
Thanks for posting this. I was able to level off our sidewalk with the help of this video. I incorporated a couple of revisions and it worked out great! Instead of straps, I used heavy duty chain. I originally tried it with an old 4x4, but it split. I had another old 4x4 and tried again with a 2x4 screwed to it and it was enough reinforcement to lift the sidewalk and then backfill with gravel/sand mixture. My sidewalk is now nice and level.
Well done Mate
3:52 OSHA approved flip flops ; )
Steel toe
I like the music you used and I also appreciate the video you made thank you for giving me an idea how to Lyft my sidewalk who is the artist by
Nice job "MichelAngelo!
What did u put under to hold concrete
Is the C clamps
He means the sand or dirt or foam.
A bag of gravel
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! So glad you shared the easy way to do this! Some other video said you had to remove the seat and pull the whole center console apart. Thanks for saving me a headache!!! 💡👍 success!!! Yay
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks m8
Thank you so much! This is much easier than other instructions I saw that required removal of the drivers seat and pulling the side of the console apart. Much easier your way and much appreciated!
I'm so glad you posted this. I currently have an 04 Classic myself, I figured these cars for whatever reason didn't have a shifter light. Thank you for the information
What bulb did u end up using?
What size bulb or watts is that?
Bulb type = 168..... 12v
Too bad there’s not a video on the 2004 (new body) Chevy Malibu on how to remove the light bulb on the shifter.
Good video. Thanks for posting. Do you know how to remove/replace the shift lever knob?
Thank you. I believe there's a small screw on the back underside of the handle that you remove and then it slides up and off.
