    When unloading the freezer, having a table near the freezer would save your back a bit, rather than unloading into bags on the floor. Just a thought.

    Your tomato plants look great! I felt hopeful for mine the other day after watching this video and decided to prune it due to yellowing leaves (after fertilizing didn't help). Yesterday the plant looked fine but today I noticed it's yellowing again. Currently it has 3 tomatoes but hasn't produced anything else in about the last two weeks. I don't want to take a loss on this plant if I don't have to. Do you think it could potentially be helpful to chop it, stick it in water to re-root, then replant it?

    I usually dehydrate mine but I think having frozen ones to thaw out and have basically fresh is a good idea for some of the harvest.

    Hated it. I owned it for a month hoping I could get over the bad things but I could not. #1- screw driver needed to change feet. #2 needle wouldn’t lift high enough to get the multiple layers under. #3 auto threader useless. #4 no throat, unable to slide a sleeve in or pant leg. #5 no zig zag. Didn’t know I needed it until I didn’t haven’t. #6 no speed control. #7 very awkward bobbin loading. I could go on but I think that’s an adequate amount of things to dissuade from this purchase. I am an experienced sewist and I’ve owned 2 Babylocks, a Janome, 2 Brothers and a couple antique singers. Luckily the store owner was kind enough to exchange it for me with a Babylock Lyric.

    I just found your channel. I grew onions from seeds and sets. My onion sets are growing pretty slow, but i can see that they are trying to bulb. Giving your onions a haircut is also helpful for onions. It helps send energy to the bulb. Onions love water and nitrogen. Hydrate your onion tops into a powder or chop and freeze them. Good luck!😊

    Seed to Seed is another great resource. From trial and error, I've found seeding squares don't work very well in oval raised beds. Growing vertically is essential for dense gardening. Peppers can be cowded to two per square foot in raised beds or pots. They grow very good when grown in pairs. Another option is using GreenStalk towers. I'm of the belief that I can't have too many peppers, and have sixty-eight growing in my gardene. Sixty of the pepper plants are being grown in Greenstalks. That is sixty plants in four square feet. Bunching onions are fairly fast to grow. Seedlings planted in February arer ready to harvest. Bulbing onions mature into the longest day, and aren't ready for harvesting until late August, or September, figure 120 days from the time they have sprouted. Determinant tomatoes should be pruned sparingly, only pruning dying branches, if pruned at all. For the most part, indeterminant tomato plants are the only plants you should prune, pruning dead or dying branches. The suickers are needed to shade the fruit, so don't prunt them. The Roma tomato should grow into a dense bush. That is normal for them. My tomato plants (23) are nearly shoulder high, flowering, and setting fruit. I have... thirty-two tomato plants altogether, nine of which are seedlings for fall tomatoes. Did you ferrtilize your tomatoes when transplanted into the garden? Tomatoes can suffer from over fertilization as well as not enough nutrients. I add a tablespoon of slow release fertilizer, half mixed into the soil in bottom of the hole, and the rese in the soil used to back fill the hole, then water in with half strength water soulable fertilizer. That is the only time I use water saluable fertilizer in the garden. It helps prevent or with recovery from transplant shock, and gives the plants a growth boost, leaves and roots. (North central Alabama) pictueres of my garden can be seen in my weekly newsletter. preview.mailerlite.com/y5b2i8h2g4 I'm a public figure, so sharing my information is okay.

    I bet you were pruning both types of tomatoes the same way because you didn’t know that tomatoes were actually classified one way or the other!!! (Determinate vs Indeterminate). I’m a good bit older than you and I’ve been gardening for 30 years and remember back in the day when I learned that about tomatoes!!!! And, believe it or not… I’ve had Mel Bartholomew’s SF gardening book back then, too, I just never really got into that type of gardening… I’m more of a chaos gardener.

  • @giselemartineau1594
    @giselemartineau1594 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had a problem with the nesting as well and have just had this machine for about a week. I'm glad it isn't just me. I did find holding the thread when starting helps. My biggest confusion is loading the bobbin in the bobbin case and I find it hard with a bad CMC joint at the base of my thumb also to finagle the bobbin into place. When they say the bobbin should turn left I still get confused because not sure how they are looking at that. In my other machine - a Singer Heavy Weight that isn't really a Heavy Weight the bobbin is much more straightforward to just drop in from the top and make sure the bobbin thread looks like the letter P when to insert it in the case. This one seems to go in the opposite way? But I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. The other thing I notice is the machine sews slow for me but when the prior owner demonstrated it to me it was able to go very fast so I think I must be doing something wrong. The speed of the machine should not affect the stitch length correct? I too love the machine - the deep throat, the thread cutter, the button to have the needle stop down in the fabric and the extension table to name a few things but I often knock the table down inadvertently because the foot is easily collapsed. I am thinking I need to put the foot inside a piece of a pool noodle or pipe insulation to help stabilize it.

    You should have a gallon ziplock bag in the freezer for vege scraps. I collect peelings as I cook and when it is full, I make a pot of stock. Sometimes I have meat bones and scraps to add, but that gives it a second life and you are getting the most from your purchases. I wish you the best on the pantry challenge and have lots of fun!

    Get a large upright freezer and fit cardboard boxes inside with labels. That contains product very well and prevents items from slipping and falling on your toes. It is much easier to clean and find things in. I change out my boxes every two years and recycle them in my compost after removing the tape or staples, so it is not wasted. Good luck and have fun!

    You seasoned the heck out of that rice. The food looked absolutely delicious. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have used two packs of the beans and veggies so your husband could get more protein (and more food) since he doesn’t eat meat. I did a vegan menu for week two of the challenge on my channel.

    I highly recommend a frigidaire upright that the shelves are the freezing unit. I have 2 of the largest from lowes, about 800$ ea a few years ago. Easy to defrost, easier to rotate your items.
