I got this defrosting last winter, but this is a new, improved video of it defrosting. Impressive how this gets used so much during the winter and it’s still working well after 31 years… that shows the quality of TECH2000s. This is easily one of my favorite defrosts I’ve ever gotten. Enjoy Filmed January 11, 2024 at 7:30 AM. It was 25 degrees with 90% humidity

what?
yeeeeeeeees perfect timing for hvac heaven again
Nice Copeland Recip
I found TWO of these at a local nursing home! They are in my "Mini Split Heaven" video.
that’s cool, these are very hard to come by
Samsung
Apple
What was that obnoxious noise in the background
the other unit
That compressor dude. . . That compressor. . . It’s sounds ridiculously amazing!!! I Can’t stop hearing that thing defrosting!
@@Jets-and-airconditoning yeah it sounds awesome
That’s my future video plan for this year that is coming up (possibly) if my family and I go to a hotel in Tampa.😊❤
nice
It was pretty nice startup, that compressor sound tough
yeah, it sounded cool but it sounded like that because it had trouble stabilizing
Very late production XB!
yeah, this was one of the last ones produced
How many tech2000s are there
LG 8,000 bru portable air conditioner also have 2 fan speeds
🗣️ what’s better then 24? 25!🔥
I also have general electric 6,000 btu air conditioner in the wall, and it is in my room
I have this exact unit. I recognized the internal panel you have to open to get to the thermostat connections. It's a pain to open. I have to replace my thermostat wire since a squirrel got in my attic and chewed it up. Any tips to open it easier?
In my opinion, I find it kinda weird how nordynes terminate defrost
Easily one of the best TECH2000 catches ever. Bravo 👏
appreciate it
@@fanshvacandmore14yea that was the best sounding steam show ever! Amazing work on this!
@@Jets-and-airconditoning thanks
Are you gonna get the other silencers next to this one
i’ve never seen the others run
crusty but a goodie!
for sure
5:43 that compressor is cooked
yep sounded terrible stabilizing
That was comparable to my neighbor's old Bryant, gosh dang
Nice job 🙂👍
Appreciate it
Looks like Gree OEM.
it was made by midea
@fanshvacandmore14 Hmm, strange. This body model is Gree in Thailand.
Hey the AQS actually runs!
yep. i didn’t know it did until i got this
Always cool seeing a unit you’ve visited 10s of times run for the first time
I have one I bought at the thrift store yesterday mine from 2005-2006
I love that Mitsubishi
same. i plan to try for a defrost of it on monday
@ uh nice!
Description Should Say Filmed January 1 2025
Ummmmmm...... It already does? 🤷
@musicnerd72 i changed it after he commented lol
Kenmore 5,300 btu air conditioner is different just like another Kenmore air conditioner
Can barely even hear the thing! Definitely lives up to its name, unlike my neighbor's old one lol
for sure. this unit is pretty much the opposite in terms of noise of your neighbor’s old bryant
quiet, no pun intended. just added it to the "COMMUNITY 2024/2025 Heating Season Defrosts" playlist
I have one from March of 2002 in white and brass mine is made by shell manufacturing electric company aka smc
This unit has only two fan speeds
0:54 this Rheem is one of the very first post-stamped octagon units
2:15 That unit is literally identical to the Reliant in the alley behind my hangout spot. They are both 5 Tons. Both have Scrolls. Both are 693Ds. Both were made in the 18th week of 2003. Bet it sounds identical too.
Both are actually from the same production run. The one you found was 1803E00189, this one is 1803E00183. Built 6 units apart during that run
Refrigerant: R32 Fan Motor: Broad ocean Compressor: GMC Model: Lw6017r That's a same one that my neighbor have
This is the air conditioner that my neighbor have this
Is it typical across the board for the fans to move slower rather than stop on those older Goodmans when in defrost?
yeah i’ve also noticed that. i believe it’s because the blades they use are extremely light and thin causing the heat generated from the defrost to keep them spinning.
@@fanshvacandmore14 that's exactly what it is. also TWO CPLE defrosts in one video? I must be in a dream!! haha :)
that Bristol sounded so scratchy in the 2nd cple
almost sounded like a scroll
The compressor sounds great with low fan
anotha one
The fact that it's literally the generic Midea compressor startup is hilarious
lol yeah. do u know what compressors these use?
@@fanshvacandmore14 GMCC variable speed rotary. Last digit of the m/n tells you the compressor brand on Bosches. G = GMCC M = Mitsubishi
@CompactHVAC imagine my shock ....
I swear this replaced an '01 reliant. All the Reliants here range from 01-05
you’re probably right
4:38 this is an awesome shot right here, THREE spam cans next to each other🤯
That thing's really cool sounding. Congrats to you guys for the first Compact defrost!
Nice! Don’t see too many of these around anymore
Damn that thing is quiet!
fr. these late 2000s carriers always had awesome sounding quiet scrolls
So is that buzzing noise the defrost mode? I just had a daikin fit heat pump installed. The first 4 days, it was sub 30 temps, and it was running quiet. Then it got into the 40s and 50s but with some rain, and all the sudden, the heat pump had a louder buzz to it.
was the fan running when it was making that buzzing sound? if so then it probably wasn’t defrosting but was running at a higher capacity. these units are variable speed, so when they draw more power wt a higher capacity making them louder. during a defrost the fan will turn off but the unit will keep buzzing.
@fanshvacandmore14 Im pretty sure it was running...I didnt go outside but I heard it through the wall. Its probably normal ramp up, but it's weird that I didnt notice it in the first 4 days when it was much cooler out. Daikin boasts how quiet these things are, but it might be louder than my 20 year old carrier that I just replaced. I guess its only quieter during low heating, and maybe during cooling season?
That reciprocating compressor sounds amazing. I remember hearing a compressor back in 2012 that sounded exactly like that in cooling mode when I was in middle school. I remembered the brand for both the condenser unit and the large Floor/Ceiling mounted evarporator units being a York, it had a setup similarily to a modern day mini-split, and the condenser unit design looked like an Olympian.
was it similar to a mitsubishi ductless unit? in the early 2000s some of those used a central unit style condensing unit made by york.
@@fanshvacandmore14 I'm couldn't find the exact indoor unit model online, but it was a vintage large ceiling-type minisplit (similar to this th-cam.com/video/GohgaSRzgeg/w-d-xo.html), but mounted on the wall instead, it used a remote rather than a thermostat, and it had a York condenser that looked like an Olympian as far as I remembered.
Great find! You guys should try for a defrost at that complex with the tabletops too if it’s safe enough
thanks for the suggestion! we can see about collabing there next month
