The Bristolian & NSR Christmas Services - 23-24.11.2024
The Christmas season began in style, with the North Somerset Railway beginning their Christmas timetable, and Ex-GWR Castle No. 7007 'Great Western' returning from London at the head of the 'Bristolian' railtour.
First we head to Aldermaston on Saturday to see the Castle passing at speed, with Class 47 No. D1926 bringing up the rear. Meanwhile, at the NSR, the first regular passenger services got underway, with Stanier Mogul No. 13254 departing Radstock. The Mogul would soon be leaving the railway to spend Christmas in London working Santa Specials, and so its rostered trips came first. At Mells Road, BR Standard 4MT Tank No. 80067 was on static display in the Beer Garden Siding as the Mogul left. The engine is seen simmering at Frome waiting for the right away, and after getting it, passing the carriage sidings on the way out of the station. After making short work of the 1 in 48 gradient to Conduit Hill Summit, the Mogul pauses at Kilmersdon for the Santa Express to pass, with Class 37 No. 37114 'City of Worcester' hauling BR Standard 9F No. 92232 up the hill and through Platform 2. We follow them back to Frome for the 12:05 departure to Radstock, with the 9F seeming to have little issue with its heavy train. Later on, having arrived in Bristol and been turned and serviced, the Castle returned to the railway alone, due to the failure of D1926 causing it to remain in Bristol, and is seen arriving at Frome and making its way to Whatley Quarry. The railtour was taken back to London by Class 31 No. 31456 and Class 42 No. D818 'Glory', both also heading to London for the Santa Specials, seen passing Keynsham at speed with Ottery Preservation Society Class 50 No. 50023 'Howe' providing heating to the coaches. Finally, on the Sunday, 7007 is seen on the Santa Express at Hapsford Junction and Colliers Way, with 80067 now bringing up the rear.

2:00 What trains are those? Where can I get them? Also, that whistle was so *satisfying* W Video
Amazing!! I want to start doing theses types of videos with a fictional railway/company but I don’t know we’re to start 😅
You just need a Google Sheet with your stuff and an area to plan things, a PC good enough for TS, and some degree of reskinning or child object understanding to do things you can't with base packs alone. And a lot of patience with the scenario editor!
@ I might ask for help if I ever begin👍😂
It would save time and typing to join the Discord, it's all there for anyone to see.

Great video mate, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you get the full blue class 68 reskin from?
Well it's technically not really a reskin. For legal reasons, AP can't include the actual branding in the pack they sell for money, so the actual pack is unbranded, and they have a free branding patch you can install afterwards. So this is the 68's DRS livery without that branding patch.
@@Matty_1843 ahh that makes sense. I wonder if there’s a way to copy the unbranded folder to leave the blue one unbranded after the branding patch has been installed ( as it’s now pretty accurate to the former TPE locos) I’ve actually worked with the TPE 68s/ MK5s prior to their withdrawal, so have a soft spot for them 🤣 Thanks for your prompt reply mate, it’s hugely appreciated.
That's exactly what I did. I reinstalled the pack from scratch, copied the DRS livery, renamed it Ex-DRS and then installed the branding patch.
The simple ones are the best… I’ll get it sorted my end, why didn’t I think of that 🤣. Thanks again.
great video. the reskin is private probably?
What, the Black Five? It's from Peppercorn Workshops, just with extra stuff added on by me.

1:45 Where Can I Get That Tanker At The Front Of The Coaches (Behind 70004)
It's the Armstrong Powerhouse TTA Tanker. Specifically from Volume 1 of 2. I took the plain blue livery and reskinned it red a long time ago. www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/rolling_stock/wagon/tta_wagon_pack_vol_1

They're custom, I didn't make them, someone else did and kindly gave them to me.

wow cool train! Hello from Nebraska, I'm your new sub 👍
Amazing video I just got a new laptop so I'll be doing videos again soon
How do you get AP Mk1 sound effects on the GCR Cromwell Pullmans? Mine don't even have sound, all I can hear, is the coaches rolling down the track, no sound effects like the AP mk1s.
I'm guessing you actually mean the MetCam Pullmans and the answer is, I put the Mk1 sounds in the .bin file and then replace the script at the bottom with the AP Mk1 script. Not sure why there's no flange squeal sounds though.
@@Matty_1843 Can You Make A Video Showing How To Get The Mk1 Sound Into The .bin file pls, I Just extracted the file, then downloaded it, thinking it should already *have* sound effects
No. Not really. The PLD MetCams just have different sounds from the AP Mk1s, that's just how it is. I changed it because they're always going to be running alongside Mk1s and I wanted them to sound the same. I'd be able to explain it better on Discord.

Can I ask how you managed to get headcode options for tender first?
Some locos let you just apply them in the scenario editor. The 9F's are kind of broken but you can still set them in-game. The Schools and all other PLD locos have one number for the front headcode and one for the rear that you can set independently and then change in-game.
@@Matty_1843 ah yeah, I knew that. CW and PLD allow it but for some reason VW doesn't but yeah.
It does... sometimes. Depends on the loco, sometimes it lets you, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the option is there but it doesn't work.
What game is this? Good video 👏
Train Simulator, nowadays TS Classic 2024 but the title kind of lost all meaning years ago, it's the same game but with yearly editions that include different routes.
This doesnt look like the NSR That I have?
That's probably because there's been several versions over the years. This one is the Golden Age Developments NSR 2021 but with the scenery on the Whatley Quarry branch filled in. The additions are available from the Discord. Someone else did most of the work, I just finished it.
@@Matty_1843 Ah thank you
Lovely ❤
good video bro, never change
Thanks!
Where did you get the custom sounds for the mk1s
I got them from the PLD GWR Hawksworth coaches. I set up all the NSR coaches in such a way that they all share sounds, with the joint sounds from the PLD coaches since they sound better at heritage line speed, and the rolling sounds from the AP Mk1s, allowing them to be mixed and matched like they would be on a heritage railway.
Excellent video, really enjoyed it thanks! I love driving this route, and these videos add an extra layer of realism to it being a real line!
Thanks a lot! I only wish some of the locos were better represented.
