Future Project.

I have wanted to do a bus conversion for 30 years. My wife's grandpa had a school bus conversion he had done in the 80's and I was hooked on the possibility. It may be a while before this project gets rolling, but I hope you stick around to see it.

    I think my Betty White 07 Expedition EL Limited has the same power steering leak, just not as much so it concentrates around the driver side. I paused where the hose appears a bit off so hopefully my leak is fixed by just pushing the rubber hose on farther.

    Did you consider putting down Ice-N-Water Shield?

  • @pslowazo
    @pslowazo ปีที่แล้ว

    one piece of 2x8 notched around the well will do the trick ... I might use PT as the likelihood of water pentation is pretty high. It's hard to maintain a good seal as the trailer racks back and forth when being towed around.

  • @pslowazo

    With no windows what are you doing for air exchange?

  • @pslowazo
    @pslowazo ปีที่แล้ว

    Nails and staples have higher shear strength than screws so don't diminish the use of nails in combination 'cause a trailer needs to have a bit of flexibility as comparted to a house due to wind resistance and pressure differences when heading down the road a 65 mph.

  • @pslowazo

    You can stiffen up the roof rafters by laminating 1/4 plywood with glue as well.

  • @pslowazo
    @pslowazo ปีที่แล้ว

    If you put strips of 'Ice N Water Shield' (like used around windows) on the wood where it contacts the frame it prevents water from lodging between the wood and metal and acts as a gasket. Also ... if you had reversed the plywood pattern so the end piece was at the front the bulk of traffic would not be over the seams, seeing how I didn't see you use thong and groove underlayment. Good to know you place God and attending Church ahead of other things in your life!

    the bulk of the rust can be removed with an orbital sander with vacuum, exhaust fan and 60 grit paper as well.

    If your sure it has been disconnected you can use a saws-all to cut between the camper and AC mount so not to damage the unit. You can also use a bunch of wooden wedges/shingles to raise it up.

      Crazy enough I just looked at material to start back up on the camper. I am not sure if I will continue the series starting this fall or if I will return to it in the spring. After we moved I have not had time to work on the camper, every extra evening I have been physically able I have spent on the house remodel. Where we live has taken priority over weekend getaway camper things. When I start back up there will be a video on what happens when you stop mid build and neglect working on the finished product. I hope you will check back and finish the build when I do. Thank you for commenting and watching.

    Anything to report? I have the same issue, top line leading into the cooler/condenser popping off. I filled my reservoir and had my wife turn the wheels full lock to lock with the cap off so I could monitor the bubbles escaping the system and the loud noise went away for about 3 full cycles of turns and then it started again and blew the hose off.

    • @thebaldingbuilder8400
      @thebaldingbuilder8400 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Jess the only thing I can report is that I did not use a hose clamp from a dealer to hold the hose on. I am still driving Betty almost every day. I am now well over 10k miles on the hose clamp I put on and it is still going strong. If you are still having issues you may have a blockage in the system. If you are in an area that is very cold you may have water in the system and if that is the case you will need to drain the entire system and replace the fluid. The other issue is a physical blockage in the cooler or one of the lines.

    • @superdukedad
      @superdukedad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebaldingbuilder8400 Thanks so much for the reply! I have a friend who is a Ford mechanic and he has seen the condensers fail lots of times, but never pressure build up like this. He did mention in our talk that caps on those reservoirs vent pretty generously so it's possible humidity has snuck in over time and collected enough to freeze and create a restriction. I live in MN and this didn't occur until we dropped out of our weird warm winter so that's a viable scenario. Thanks so much again.
