    Woah hold on, what? How many of these did u guys have? I sure as heck recognise those chuffs tho. There's a great video of two of these in sweden pulling/pushing a train up some curvy track. Search for "Resumé SJ B 1429 på skånska spår, KULLYWOOD" and you'll find it. This is the SJ B 1697 , built in motala 1944 for Stockholm - Västerås - Bergslagens Railways. It was given the designation S.W.B. 101. The following year the state railways bought S.W.B it was renamed to SJ B 1697. That's where the "B" class comes in. Sj being Statens Järnvägar ("The state's railways"). I just find it cool that it's still has the number 101, which is was built with, after all these years. Idk about thet ablue paint tho, that's something you guys did. All of the SJ engines were painted black, with only a few exceptions (some were silver). There's still quite a few B class locos that runs in sweden to this day. Only as excursion locos, ofcourse. They do pull some goods trains now and then just for now. But were are all painted black, except for some of the early ones which were painted gray/silver, so no fancy colors like the english locos.

      Most Swedish steam locomotives actually weren’t fitted with whistles that has multiple chimes. So this one is quite special. Here is an example: th-cam.com/video/1pWd8U6E0P4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DLYn2rnO3WuULEd3

      She's in the overhaul queue, but not at the front. She's behind city of Peterborough - and that's a project that may not happen in the next 10 years. It's another case of time and money that can't be done at this time.

      The railway has been adapted to take european loading gauge, platforms have been built for the wider coaches and a bridge has been demolished. The british Mk 1 coaches they use have larger stepboards fitted to make up for the larger gaps at stations.

    Leaving Spalding my grandad was driving her. After 46years on the railway this is the only video we have seen where we know he was driving a steam engine on the main line. He was booked on this 'job' for the day although he was well known for his enthusiasm and love of steam engines so was more than likely purposely chosen. He took the engine and support coach from Whitemoor yard in March and backed on to 13 coaches in Spalding station. He and the fireman, who hadn't handled a shovel for 20 years, took her from Spalding to Sleaford just after she was used to take the Queen Mother from Stratford lower to North Woolwich. Engine was then bought back to March Depot. We have a picture of four generations of the family stood in front of her at March shed. And a picture taken by the signalman at Sleaford south coming round the corner. Would love to get a permanent copy of this video. Driver: John Peggs Fireman: Bill Clapham

  • @Tom-Lahaye
    @Tom-Lahaye 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most important feat is that she was saved by the Nene Valley Railway in the first place. That she now went back to France, as being the only servicable member of this class is something the French people deserve, as this was one of the finest classes of engines that operated on Frances railways (and into Belgium as well, because the territory of the Nord stretched out to Liége in the Nord) Only a litlle disapointment is that she wasn't running with the Nord coach and the other French coaches behind her in this video.

  • @Tom-Lahaye
    @Tom-Lahaye 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Funy to see how close the clearance of her chimney is under the bridge. This one was sold to Belgium (PFT-TSP) together with a spare boiler. The boiler of this loco was fitted to their class 52 loco (26101), of which her boiler couldn't be repaired anymore. Because the Belgian preservation society only needed a boiler they wanted to resell the locomotive as quick as possible to get funds to repair their new boiler, she was resold to a road haulage company in Belgium. The spare boiler is put onto this loco, and she got a cosmetic restoration for her new owner. After this restoration she went to a multi modal platform I think somewere in the Antwerp harbour where she is phlinted now as a static exhibit, open to the elements. Truly a sad end for this locomotive, but she is not the only one, as there are still many dozens of these locomotives around in Europe, either running, phlinted or rusting away in graveyards, much more than ever can go into preservation (and on the continent enthusiasts are complaining anyway they see these 2-10-0's just on about every preserved railway)
