This resort is perfect for someone with mobility issues. The rooms, the buffet, all À la carte restaurants are all attached to the main hotel buildings. There are 2 elevators and 5 floors, that boasts a very clean, happy atmosphere.
The Grand Aston is a 5-star modern and sophisticated hotel operating as a 24/7 all-inclusive resort. It is ideally situated on the beachfront of the Oasis Sector in Varadero, only 10 minute taxi ($10USD) to downtown Varadero strip, there I recommend going to the open air, no ceiling night club called LA COMPARSITA. Opens at 11 - 3 am every night & entrance fee is $5 and drinks are only $2 each.... OR sometimes it's $10 & drinks are free all night!
The hop on hop off bus ride was a fantastic way to see all of Varadero and different resorts and locations in day light and was well worth it. You can stop at 4 different markets along the way to pick up some authentic Cuban souvenirs.

*This resort did NOT offer a free 30 minute catamaran ride, like most Cuban resorts offer. There was no orange pool party & no foam party in Jan 2025.
Overall the experience at the Grand Aston was good. This hotel style is perfect for the older crowds, is not a loud party place, & there is no music on the beach.
I personally give this resort 3.5 stars. As I like larger resorts & like to party & spend most of the day at the beach & enjoy my complimentary catamaran ride while at resorts. During our week stay it was very windy and red flag was prevalent. The beach would have been great other wise. The staff here was excellent, the entertainment was a tad repetitive, but great quality of all performers and talent, was excellent, the food & drinks were excellent too, (ask for a red & blue sex on the beach and GOT TO GET the Crema Catalana, 1000% recommended)
I even received a personal serenade while dining... wow!!!! ♥♥♥

***CORAL SIDE - @resortwalkthroughs th-cam.com/video/BpDZzPeaiqU/w-d-xo.html If you want to have a look at inside a roof top terrace suite on the Coral side here is that video= (The only difference are the lounge chairs and the laid back music they play on this side) If you watch both videos you can see the view of the ocean is the same as on Coral & Selection, I would opt out for a swim up suite OR stay ocean front @ Selection) I also had a walk in closet, room are similar... ENJOY!
Great rooms, great landscaping, highly lit at night, safe, great pools, great food, great drinks, the drinks in my video are banana milkshakes! Booth beaches are more than great, white sand and yes it is windy offering small waves, but not rocky. Remember you are on an island off of an island off of an island in the middle of nowhere!!!! It is about 1 - 1.5 hour drive from the airport in Cayo Coco. Both beaches are right beside each other (same beach & not far at all) Plenty of palapas for shades, on a sunny day get your chairs early... you may have to walk a bit to find empty ones. The coral side is closely attached and only a quick walk away... If you walk going right on the beach, there is a rock cut that you can walk through, (You may want water shoes for this, so you can travel further) which creates fantastic photos, as the waves smash up against the rocks!!!! AMAZING staff, they will bend over backwards to please & accommodate you & as you can see in my video, this resort goes the extra mile with all of the little touches that make it a 5 star resort!!!

@@resortwalkthroughs I agree. I loved going to Cuba, I've been there 5 times in the last 2 years. But the last time in May 2024 was absolutely terrible. It's getting worse and worse every year. Things are changing in Cuba right now politically and it shows in the attitude from the resort workers and the food quality and quantity, even the water and beer in the resorts is either not available or it's bad. I'll go back when and if things change back to how it was pre covid. For now I'm going to Dominican Republic. Have a great day☺

no, i record when people are eating and when it get cloudy to avoid strangers in my video... if you see half way through at the pool party there is plenty happening and you can barely grab a chair by the pool everyday.

Heading there January 1. Did you get upgraded to privilege or did you reserve it? I understand they are upgrading people because of reduced capacity.
@@jimryan4056 I paid for privilege myself. My understanding is they may be upgrading privilege rooms but you do not get privilege amenities (like the upgraded alcohol and access to the privilege lounge, etc.) without paying for it.
