Glad to hear you're interested in filmaking! The two easiest ways to get on film sets are as a Production Assistant or a background actor. As a PA you can network more directly with the film crew but I'd suggest looking for both. You can go on Facebook groups, Staffmeup, Backstage for gigs and once you get one network the heck out of it and hopefully get more work through word of mouth
In NY the Props Dept also supplies the picture cars.
