I love future islands, and their concerts are so high-energy and fun. Sam’s emotional performances really get to me. Having said that, this feels like such a weak performance. From Sam’s voice sounding like it’s about to give out, to the drum sample being too loud. And most of all, the electric guitar bit towards the end of the song, though simple, is very impactful and is one of my favorite parts and it’s completely absent. I searched for a live performance of this song because of how much I enjoy it when it comes up on the album. I hope a better live recording comes out at some point.
