have as much sense as a bird and move north or up into the mountains for the summer. and then back down south/into the valleys for the winter. when you have wheels under you, this is quick and easy. Ive lived in an old minvan for 4 years in my live, once for 3 years straight as I completed college.

Minivans are one the best inventions ever. I have had mine since 1998 and would not trade it for any car. Has a bit of rust but who cares I have saved thousands of dollars with my baby. I'm now 77 and 5 feet tall so no need for extentions.

I've been building sleeping platforms for my Caravans and Town&Countries for decades. Store the baggage and other stuff under the platform, set queen size air mattress on top. My platform legs are against the inside edge of the van so space under is clear side to side. Rear ones bolt into rear seat belt mounts to secure the whole thing safely. If you need more storage space you can the remove the rear seat and have its storage space as well. Or if you're really stretched you can also pull the middle seats and use those storage wells. Top and hitch carriers can either hurt aero drag and handling because of higher center of gravity or too much weight hung out the rear.

Done that as a kid, now forget about it !

The bighorns used to be really cool, now they are overcrowded with those making the trip to Yellowstone, same crowds, people are starting to chose these places over Colorado though, it seems to be getting less crowded

Hey! I live in Michgan, just a few miles from the Lake. I've never seen this part of it tho. Could people not just swim to a different section that's not so steep, and climb out? Or does it extend too far in either direction?

I miss my 2009 Odyssey as my 2019 Kia Sedona 2nd row seats only flip up instead of easy removal unless you have the tools to take them out. Can't' get a folding cot in the way the Odyssey could. The yoga mat is important as it prevents cold from coming up through your memory foam.

I have a Transit Connect, (no removeable seats) I have a cot with a 4" foldable memory foam mattress that doubles as a chair. (I wanted a super lightweight no build) using bungee cords to secure things. Might add a cargo carrier later, if I get an E-bike. ❤ Great video! I haven't done my build yet, but it should be very similar! ❤❤❤ I do have a solar generator for power, I have to find room for, and what I call an "easy bake oven" type cook center. (Makes coffee, fries eggs and will bake a few cookies) I have a hammock I hope to hang kitty corner if need be for a friend or grandchild to tag along! Best lightweight build Ive seen! Thank you! ❤ Good thing I have a cot, no Trunk Mate for a Transit... But my cot was on clearance for under $50 too. All good! Will get my build done later this month. Have to help daughter haul something first. 😊

You're lucky your seats came out easy. Not so with a Tarago and other vans I've had.

I can do it in 2 minutes. All I have to do is "catch" the toggles on the ends of my hammock in the passenger door and the hatchback. Presto, hammock hanging catty-corner in the van. Toss the rear and passenger seats. Bolt-down some D-rings and bungee cord some chests of drawers down to the D rings. Presto, lots of room for your stuff, to include a bicycle or E bike. Just cause you live in a van doesn't mean you have to leave any one town or city. Park the van near your job or main center of activity and get around on the bike. Presto, almost no wear/tear on the van and very little gas-consumption. Food is free for the asking in the US, at churches, the SA mission, via Food stamps and the Food Bank. $10 per month lets you clean up at the 24-7 Planet Fitness gym. That's also a legit place to park when the college library is closed. There's no interest charged on 6k per year half-time student loans as long as you're in college at least half time. The Pell grant pays your tuition and fees. I lived like this for 3 years. You can sell your plasma for $80 per week, but it requires 2 visits per week, normally with a 1 hour wait. They will pay you $50 for the first donation each week and $30 for the second one, which MUST be 2 days later. If you only sell your plasma once per week, you can call-ahead and go when there's no line of waiting people. $50 per hour, not $20 per hour. When you owe the full 48k of Dept of Ed college loans, your payment will be less than $200 per month. So its' FREE MONEY. You can do your studying while you're bleeding. :-) They pump your red blood cells back into you after they extract the plasma.

Great video and thank you for all of the links! That bed setup is awesome. I have looked at "camp cot" solution but I have the budget for this and think it is a better solution for me. I am downsizing from a 33 foot class A 2 slides all mod cons :) ... wish me luck!! I WILL be adding some sort of toilet as one of my "must haves" ... bucket with seat or gosh, there are lots of simplified options that can double as a seat.

My family went here when I was 7 or 8. I remember I was so mad because my mom wouldn’t let me go down because I was too young, but my cousin was allowed and he was the same age. He made it down and up fine and it just made me more mad because I knew if he could do it, I could. I still hold a grudge for that 😔
