I can't even imagine what it must be like in the aftermath, even with facilities restored, just experiencing the changes in your surroundings and attempting to make sense of how what once was no longer exists. Wishing you on-going healing as the days progress, and a lessening of the triggering reaction as you adapt to this new but foreign normal. The piece you created was absolutely stunning and will serve as documentation of your experience and a movement towards restoration. ❤❤❤

I’m sorry your community is going through this. It’s s such a nightmare. My brother in law from Massachusetts is in Treasure Island as his mom’s home was damaged so bad from the hurricane. His mom had to sleep on the counter in her kitchen as she didn’t evacuate and the storm surge went so high. All of her appliances, her car, and walls and more are gone and/or damaged. My heart reaches out to all who have been effected. Keeping you in my thoughts.

So appreciate the tutorial! Love the idea of coloring the whole page before folding. Takes away the pressure of what the background will be on each page. Are zines always left so the whole booklet can be opened and see the full page? Wondering if the backs can be glued together or would that inhibit being able to open each page? Haven't made my first one yet, doing so may answer my own question. Thanks again!

What weight paper did you use? I made a prototype on 50# but too light. Although I cycled through a lot of my dry markers, pens, watercolor crayons to throw out duds. But eager to make another on heavier paper. Thx!

New subscriber! I appreciate seeing you use cheap common items in your collage like pencil and sharpie highlighter. As a beginning collager I feel intimidated when I watch TH-cam videos by all the supplies I don't have. It was encouraging to see you use easily available things I have in my home.

Thank you for these nice tips, especially about collaging on colored pieces of paper, instead of painting directly on the paper. As you were rubbing on the rub-Ins that wouldn’t rub on-😂, I was thinking that one can always handwrite out the letters similar to the rub-on letters with a sharpie, fine liner pen, or Posca marker. Also you can also always learn to hand letter in the rub-on styles that you like. You could start by placing tracing paper or vellum over your rub-on sheets and practice drawing the letters you like. After enough practice, you will be able to draw the letters yourself, and you’ll no longer need the run-ons!! 😁 10-15 minutes a day of practice will yield surprisingly good results in a short period of time. I improved my handwriting, even by irregular practice. Imagine what can happen with REGULAR practice!!! Thank you for the videos!! I also liked the ZINE videos. They were inspiring and helpful!
