My TOP 10 Merzbow albums!
There are a lot of things that can be said about the legendary pioneer of Japanoise. Masami Akita, mostly known as Merzbow, has one ofthe most significant and long running careers in the scene, still going strong to this day. Having listened to a lot of albums that he's put out, here are the ten that I would consider his best.

    Definitely welcome video! Merzbow has an endless discography, which I always struggle to find my way around, and your TOP 10 will certainly be very useful to me. Among the Merbows I've heard, I particularly like: The Lampinak (among those from the first, more experimental phase); Pulse Demon (among his most classic and "mainstream"); Hermerzaphrodites (among the most recent things)...

    I was expecting Night or Buyer's Market by the bottom tiers but the actual albums you featured went way past my expectations. I didn't listen to a lot of noise past 2011 so it's nice to see how the scene has evolved ever since. Great list, lots of unusual picks, it's refreshing to see names outside from the "classic" noise artists we've all heard a thousand times. My one critique is that there should've been more female artists featured.

    Your lists are always interesting, full of suggestions, and your way of reviewing albums is synthetic and effective. I haven't been able to listen to a lot of things so far this year...and definitely none of this list. I admit that for the moment I have snubbed "Sutcliffe No More"... I have to decide to take something from them, perhaps starting from this one... although I know that they also came out with an instrumental album this year, which seems interesting... .

    And yeah, why didnt I say this in a single comment?, idk, I just wrote the last and forgot to say (At least I hope it helps with engagement); what did you think about the last Uboa récord?, I think it is overhyped, didnt really like the instrument selection on it, and I though the structure of the tracks was kinda predictable, felt somewhat too similar to hear a "long emotional but calmer last song" both in TOOMD and this one, it felt kinda derivative for me, although I think she improved in the noise texture aspect, what are your thoughs?

    • @Alpha27music
      @Alpha27music 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't necessarily use the word "overhyped", I believe that outside of the music, people praise it for the depiction of its themes, which are certainly really powerful. But I also wasn't that much impressed. I wasn't a huge fan of TOOMD, so I didn't get to it with huge expectations. The sound is stellar, Lawrence English on mastering credits says it all. Might need to give it a second chance, but yeah, I also wasn't impressed by it on my first listen.
