I am not able to solve my sensory sensitivities.

Word. ❤
LMAO, yeah, ok. Keep making up new conditions. Got it.
Too many times
Nothing to say this time. Commenting just because I love your videos and hope you keep making them
✋
its common in ADHDers because of the astronomically high comorbidity between ADHD and the social traumas that lead to RSD.
Love the vids bro. Love the bite sized info each time
Oof, seen. Ouch
I was also undiagnosed and I think I was better off for it seeing a lot of the hand holding today It's crazy
During my free time I play a lot of videogames. I love videogames and there are a handful that I have played over and over throughout my life. But I was wondering if you have any tips for finding more balance with where the dopamine comes from? Like for example I have other hobbies like drawing and reading. Is there a way to reclaim some of my free time for drawing, if it isn't as stimulating?
@@s-nooze Good question, I wish there was a simple and clear answer. This is something many ADHDers struggle with 😩
@EssyKnopf truly it is. I have learned to not shame myself about it at least.
I also have CPTSD. My theory is that part of why we have a greater likelihood of CPTSD is that not only do we have more vivid memory and stronger emotions, but our minds tend to be particularly good at pattern recognition, which can work against us when it comes to trying to avoid triggers. Through therapy and the power of the mind’s self-preservation protocol bringing about some headmates to help me out, We are doing rather well now, fortunately, but CPTSD can be quite the uphill battle.
Omg... stop. Youre fine. Stop bragging when the serious higher spectrum are in diapers and some even dead. Im sick of this braggadoccious narcissism.
Thank you 😊 I was undiagnosed also Thank you for sharing experience.
Through my life, I have always had to know where a clock is, so when I do a task , whatever the task I have a rough estimate of how long it takes me to do it . Then I find out, I had ADHD the whole time. I was 39 when I was diagnosed❤
find your tribe!! you can do it!!
They can swivel, directness is the rational approach to anything. If they have a problem with it, it's *_THEIR_* problem.
Same here. So how are you coping? I am in and out of therapy.
@@viktoriavandermeulen5509 Pretty well, apparently! I'm now a therapist who treats C-PTSD.
@ wow. Congrats, that is amazing ! ✨🤩💓
Thank you for the work you do ❤
I empathize with you because I had the same experience. What’s even harder is when they could also possibly be narcissistic in their tendencies. It breaks your heart.
It shows a very strong character, both emotionally and logically, for you to recognize that your parents were probably going through similar struggles as you. I hope you guys were able to have some conversations and try to repair any damage accidentally caused
same.
This is my most embarrassing symptom I struggle with on a daily basis. I have panic attacks every time I forget something I need.
Oh boy here we go again. You’re telling my story…lol. Great video! TY 👏🏽
Cry about it
I was always upset about being weird. I would have people tell me I want but it still rang hollow. Finally I had friend say, “Yeah, you are weird, but that is what makes you you and that is what we love about you.” So from one weirdo to another, you are awesome in oddness and non-conformity. It is nice as an adult to finally be able to find community and not feel so alone.
You have been rocking my world with your videos. I have shed tears listening to how accurate you are. I feel so relieved knowing that I have someone who can totally relate. Thank you!
I haven't been diagnosed and have always struggled. I just have anxiety and depression diagnosed. I am totally frustrated.
Thank you Essy. I notice that I have been self-sabotaging the connections I've made with people. I have felt like there's no use. But your words are helpful and I want to believe there is hope. I don't know if there is but there's a part of me that wants to not give up
Don't give up! You got this!
Sounds like me
Belief is based on doubt. See the facts of the world and step up. DON'T associate with people that also can't cope properly, that just reinforces the beliefs. Enabling is not dealing with objective reality.
I was just talking to my friend who went on vacation about how I wish traveling was easier for me.
I always go with the "welp uncomfortable is good", and it usually makes it go away
"Im strange and that's ok" ❤
@@amyraye1050 so real
Wow, someone who knows and understands. Unbelievable! Neurotypicals think I’m always complaining. I am super sensitive to sounds, textures and most definitely smells. OMG 😱
Stop looking at me that way 👁👁
This is one of the most frustrating things I’ve dealt with on a daily basis.
I love your straightforward tone
Seems like you are talking about the medical model of disability vs the social model of disability. When I am able to manage my social and sensory environment I can do most things very well, in fact possibly even better than neurotypical people. However, if my environment is confusing or loud or overwhelming or if a social situation is complicated or confusing, my challenges become more apparent and I lose some of the hard-earned skills I have developed. In my case, my particular flavor of Autism is not in itself disabling. However, my environment, especially when it does not accommodate my sensory or communication needs, disables me.
Yes, totally get that! I advocate for a biopsychosocial model of disability, as this acknowledges disability is a product of a variety of factors (biology, psychology, and society).
Wokeness is cancer
Can one be dominant over the other and do you think that it's possible for them to switch throughout development or even within a period of time back and forth?
@@chromatinkiss It's certainly possible. I've noticed that traits from autism and ADHD can manifest differently throughout my life.
@ Thank you for the feedback. I'm guessing it has all to do with environment, in other words, epigenetics
🙏 Thank you. The shaming and mockery is so cruel. And when I call it out I get told “oh, you just need to develop a thicker skin - stop being so sensitive!” In one job, behind my back, ppl made fun of my need for order. I was particular about tidying my desk at the end of the day and where things were. For a while I thought I was going insane bc I would swear I had put things in a certain place in my office and could not find them the next day. I would shut my door, crawl under my desk and cry. Someone finally admitted the whole firm was in on taking turns moving things in my office when I wasn’t there because it was funny to hear me cry over it.
@@WillemPenn Workplace harassment! 😕 Sorry that happened to you.
"That's not fair.." "Wow you sure complain a lot you are too sensitive 😢😢😢"
This is my favorite video from you so far ❤
On the topic of different symptoms, can you please make a video on how Autism and ADHD are highly comorbid with (and maybe even cause, but the science isn't conclusive on that) a lot of physical symptoms? These include, among many others, sensormotory seizures, delayed growth (and below average strength) of muscle connective tissue, poor thermal regulation, decreased pain tolerance, lack of fine motor skills, and digestive issues! A lot of people with Autism and ADHD don't know that these physical symptoms are common for them and it can cause a lot of medical stress to not know!!
Sounds like you're referring possibly to some hypermobility spectrum disorder related challenges? I did a view on that some weeks ago.
Before I even hit double digits, my AuDHD often lead to me becoming deeply, even irrationally, upset at children's cartoons - there's often a character who was dedicated to being a punchline, and that made me angry for reasons I couldn't easily communicate with my parents. I found it unfair that one character never got what they wanted while everyone else had fun. My parents (because this was before my diagnosis) thought that I was upset because the cartoons reminded me of something going on outside the home that hurt/embarrassed me, and became worried sick that I was getting bullied or put down at school. At the time I wasn't, but looking back, I really appreciate how hard they tried to understand and stick up for me, even before I was diagnosed! ❤
I have been watching a lot of your videos and shorts. This one in particular really speaks to me. It's amazing how predictable narcissists can be. I'm currently trying out limited contact via email with a narc parent and I got the most textbook types of responses. They always start off so sweet and but then the second they get triggered or I reinforce a boundary the responses become rage spirals, shame, and criticism. I think I give up on them, it's just too stressful. The sad thing is I have lost my entire extended family too because they are all enablers.
@@s-nooze Do watcha gotta do to take care of yourself! I back you 💯
@EssyKnopf thank you 💛 I decided to resume no contact. I also decided not to answer them or explain myself again, and save my energy.
