    Laura = Rita 2.0... can't wait to see that documentary :/

  • @BVEWXR
    @BVEWXR 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Laura has made her mark on SWLA and is worse than Hurricane's Rita and Audrey. We are one of the lucky few to get our power back in 4 days and I thank God for our neighbors in West Texas for restoring our power. But unfortunately, the timing of power restoration is worst then Hurricane Rita, where power was restored within a 3 week period. Due to Laura, most power companies throughout SouthWest Louisiana and Central and West Central Louisiana, and even in North Louisiana could be out for as long as 8 weeks. We must all pray for fellow Louisianans. We are facing a situation that could be involving the Governor of Louisiana's office. The Governor thought that the damage was not as bad. Well a woman in SWLA totally blew him off the map. We must fight against resources that the Governor may be withholding.

    I rode out Rita in Beauregard Parish. Most of us thought we were going to be unscathed, we were far enough inland. Oh we were so wrong! Other than the terrible aftermath for us our poor nursing home residents were evacuated even further north in Many and other towns well north, but they were all devastated as well. no power, laying on gurneys in hallways...so so sad. none of us were prepared for such devastation. I'm praying Laura downgrades by landfall and no one suffers again the devastation like with Rita. I'm watching this video as a reminder of how powerful these storms can be. Praying the Good Lord protects us all and diminishes the power of this storm. Also, so sad no one in the media ever talks about Rita...only Katrina which was devastating too, but Rita seems to be forgotten by all who never endured her wrath.

    • @koreyryder9881
      @koreyryder9881 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rita is definitely overshadowed by Katrina, but for all the right reasons. Many people in SWLA and SETX saw the nightmares and wanted no part of what Rita had to offer - something positive that came from Katrina, she opened many eyes and put the fear of God in many hearts. I get a very Rita vibe from Laura, hopefully we’ll sit back 15 years from now and can say we were wrong.

    Rita was a complete NIGHTMARE!!!!!! We lived in Port Arthur at the time and were helping Katrina evacuees when we had to evacuate. The evacuation to Dallas, taking the back roads, to avoid traffic, took us 28 hours, then we migrated from Dallas to Houston, and finally to Galveston during the two weeks after the storm because we were not allowed back into our home town. We finally got home, what can best be described as a post apocalyptic horror!!!! No power, couldn't drink the water, the stench of rotting meat was everywhere, and massive home damage. The horrific aftermath of Katrina eclipsed Rita. The abandonment of an entire major city kinda takes precedence. Shout out to Houston! They took in Katrina evacuees, and moved heaven and hell to take care of everyone, their own citizens and new transplants, after the storm. They were EXTREMELY accommodating.

      JACQUETTA WHITE I was in Lake Charles after evacuating New Orleans for Katrina. They wouldn't let us go home to NOLA so we had to go North to evacuate from Rita. My parents live in Central Louisiana and they were without power for 2 weeks. It was CRAZY.

  • @littlecasino60
    @littlecasino60 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wish they would do a report (or perhaps they did but I missed it) of the people who evacuated to Arkansas and other places and said they would never go through that again. They sold their homes (or what was left of them) here in Lake Charles and moved to north Louisiana or Arkansas. I remember one couple got a job working on a horse farm in Arkansas, I think it was.
