Hey man/ I was so excited about you channel but I understand life happens. Are you holding up well? A lot of people care for you. Have a good one brother
This is perfect! I just bought a C-30 in San Diego and it needs just that. Now I know what to expect when I get in there.
How much $ .
WD40 will remove the marks with little to no scrubbing
$38,500 is crazy
That is not the asking price I have the boat listed for
Sorry to see you go! We just found you. We are also C30 owners and new YT Channeler’s. “SV Ruby & the adventures of Capt Bill & Angelica “. 20+ vids and 10+ shorts. Good luck, fair winds!

farwell great Fujin, you will be missed👋🌊
I'm so sorry. I will miss Fujin. Make sure she goes to a good home.
@@jessicabarker1874 you could be the new good home! :)
No!!!!!!!!! I just bought a Catalina 30 in SD, would have definitely considered this. I loved your videos since it felt like someone else was in the same boat... ha. This makes me quite sad. Thank you for your humbleness & humility here. We get fixated on the successful few and forget just how difficult in can be. Sounds like you have a great plan. I too am already learning about what the next boat I'd want is by getting experience on the Catalina 30. I see this as a good thing, I think you're ready to move onto the bigger goal. Ping me if you wanna hang on my catalina 30. I'll email you.
Bummer, but do what you gotta do. I was gonna say forget TH-cam and just enjoy the boat. I wouldn't want to spend all that time editing, and it's hard to make good money doing that. But sounds like you have a longer-term plan. If you can find a way to support cruising, go for it. But I wouldn't mind some videos, too!
I think your being to hard on yourself - It's not like your the first person to ever call for help ! That's what the service is for . I hope it didn't cost to much!
It's a Sailboat, the engine is an auxiliary. Focus on sailing!
I noticed the racks that you have for your dinghy. Can you tell me where I can find them or who makes them. I also have a Catalina 30 and have enjoyed watching your videos. Thanks.
We’re neighbors. My Catalina 30 is across the way at Holiday Harbor Marina.
@@dbruner6255 trust me, you don’t want those racks. I went through two dinghy’s before realizing the racks caused the seams to tear apart. The dinghy does not like to naturally hang like that. Seam failure is almost impossible to repair.

@@sailingfujin thanks for the warning.
i like the sex sounds when installing the pump, very funny 😂😂😂
You went out of port with a sailboat with zero wind while you should know engines made for sailboats are about the biggest junk ever made by mankind.
Did you just add slices of pickles to your tea?
Someone gave me the advice of going as slow as possible when docking into your slip to the point where you don't need to put your engine in reverse at the end. It's what I aim for but I don't always achieve it. It's critical to have a reliable engine in the L.A. Harbor. Nice boat btw!
Bought my old Catalina 27 in San Diego. I rigged up a temporary clean fuel tank in order to motor to Los Angeles. Several people had warned me about the fuel tank being contaminated.
Lovely boat.
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
I'm a keelboat newb and out of the hundreds of videos of "influencers" Ive seen begging for cash and exploring exotic locales, this video was the best. You hung tough, admitting ignorance but not defeat. Great video for me to see. It reminds me of Lewis and Clark's 1st night of the expedition. They departed Independence, MO and camped for one night for the "show" and make sure they didnt forget anything. They did. Had to send someone back to town. Sub'd.
Thank you for saying this. It’s comments like these that make me want to keep making videos!
Wow Sailor great episode
Communication tone between a captain and first mate can be challenging.
Good episode. Crossing my fingers you hear positive engine news
Great channel! just found an watch all videous! I am also a new owner of Catalina 30 MKii, got it about in the same time as you. The toilet jobs were the first to tackle as well. I had the same pump as you bought, but it failed miserably on my last time using it. Hinges that stick uses for rotation fall off. But I do not know how old pump was to be honest. From manufacture description it is not rated as a tank pump out. Ordered Whale BP0527 as a replacement, will see how it will work.
I had a similar issue on my Universal M25XP and it ended up being a fuel delivery issue. Have you removed the "trailer plugs" at either end of your engine harness (behind engine panel and at engine)?
It definitely was a fuel delivery issue, and changing the primary fuel filter ended up fixing it. But I haven't messed with any wiring plugs or fuses.
There is a lot, and I mean a lot of good feet finder content in here
@@sailingfujin Might want to install a fuel tank inspection port.
As far as engine parts you can call Kubota, they should have all parts for that engine still available.
Thanks! We got it up and running again, new head gasket ended up fixing the issue. Time to spend another 2K on a new head sail we just blew out on our maiden trip 😑
Good on you! With a diesel engine 9/10 times it’s a fuel issue.
y'all are cute, I wish you the best of luck 😊
Thanks :) and thanks for watching!
As long as your boat wasn’t “repainted” then it’s the original gel coat and what was under the decal is the original unfaded colour. Cut polishing the whole hull might make it less apparent but you’ll likely still see where the decals were.
Thanks for the tip, may try polishing it in the yard when we haul out soon.
I just realized I’m your neighbor at Cabrillo Way!
Hello Neighbor! Where you at?
@@sailingfujin right behind you on e10. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and wound up buying a 85 Catalina 30 called Odyssey! Your videos have been a nice help so far with everything since this is my first sailboat as well.
@@jamesc6872 Congrats on the new boat! I knew the previous owner. I'll try and swing by sometime if I see you over there!
@@sailingfujin I saw you climbing the mast and taking the headsail off recently. I look forward to meeting!
Go Sailor great episode ❤
Looks good.
No, you tap the bung in and trim the extra off with a wood chisel held flat, then lightly sand.
Mineral spirts will clean up the silicone if you use it before it cures.
Tip, put the smooth side of duck tape over the hole, with a larger sticky side to hold it. The epoxy will not stick to the smooth side of the duck tape. When you remove it you will have a smooth cured surface that can then be re-drilled.
To much hardener for the weather condition, hot sun for sure will kick it.
No, you just split the bung with a screw driver or better a small wood chisel. Split the bung it will come right out, no drill necessary.
Were your sails store at some point? The main looks rodent damaged. The sun will blend the area where you removed your State numbers, with time. Chill lax.
Hove to and make lunch?
I love the porn music while he was doing his "plumbing"
The white is Gelcoat, not paint. Also, how about putting the boat name over the bad area. 😉 might look cool. I hope it all goes well with the motor 🙏🏼 I had a homeless guy steal my tubes twice in my marina! I had him on camera! The dumb ass locked his bike up at our sea wall one day and left it. I took my tubes and tires back and threw his bike in the dumpster! I won’t say how the bike got unlocked 🤣🤣
I was thinking of putting a samurai sticker over it, we’ll see. And I thought my bike would be fine here at Cabrillo Way Marina. The security here is pretty heavy. I guess no marina is save for our bikes. Thinking about moving over to shoreline in Long Beach, I know my bike wouldn’t last a week over there lol
Put a decorative sticker or “Catalina” over the old CF
Welcome back
Good to be back!
Great video, as always. There is always some really useful information in your videos...so thanks for sharing. Happy sailing!
Thanks for watching!
bubbles in epoxy...a small butane torch after you pour the epoxy is like magic. Pour the epoxy and then "flame the epoxy" lightly. Bubbles gone...instantly.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely that one out next time 👍🏼
Glad to see you back! Since silicone is so problematic, I wonder if you could have used something else to seal the rails when you reinstalled them, like 3M 4200. Main drawback is that it's not clear.
Thanks, it’s good to be back! I’ll look into the 3M 4200 for future deck fittings 👍🏼
Can I ask how much US charged for the sail repair? I have a tear in the exact same spot on our C30..
Yeah I guess it’s a pretty common spot for them to tear from what he was saying. It was somewhere around $300.
Ok, cool. Thanks. Enjoying learning from your learning journey. I’m a few months behind you as we got our C30 last September…
Nice job dude! It's a never-ending job doing projects on the boat. "Botch job" or not, at least you're taken care of things. There's a lot of people who can't be bothered with doing basic maintenance on their boats, and they just let them go to hell. I also have a 1981 Catalina 30 at your Harbor! I'm sure we'll bump into each other soon.
It really is never ending. Let alone tackling upgrade projects. It’s always sad to see the condition of most other Catalina 30s. The two right next door to me are a total loss. Thanks for watching! See you around the marina!
