I have a question! The book that is being sold on Amazon is the same as the book sold in martina's website? Besides the signed difference, either book is the same?

Thank you for this episode. I'm a graphic designer (also studying lettering and I love everything you do) and I struggle SO MUCH with reaching out to potential clients. I hate it, really. I have tried for months to cold outreach, but has never worked, no matter how much reseach I did beforehand. Now I want to start developing my social media channels (which I already did, but like basic stuff) and reach out to more people I know. I love this job, I've made a lot of sacrifices to start working on my own and I really - REALLY - want to make it.

No comments! Not surprised. When I was a freelancer (now working FT for a former client) I had companies approaching me via LinkedIn 2 or 3 times a week for long-term contracts. I still get companies contacting me. Tip: know your business and show it, but don't over-charge.

I am a student of both these talented people. Unfortunately I suffer from extreme shiny object syndrome so have paid for and partially completed many courses. My goal this year is to finish some so I can at least get better at something. This was an interesting and inspiring podcast. I've had quite a few health setbacks in the past two years that also make me appreciate small things and helped me put many things into perspective. Best wishes to all in 2024.

I can relate to Erik. after graduating with a design degree during the housing market crash of 08/09 I couldn't find any work. worked at a machineshop and did construction that I was NOT happy with AT ALL. I'd just look at the clock hoping for lunch to come, then clocking out.

I LOVE Jessica Hische! She kicked off her career when I started art school and now I work at an advertising agency but anytime I'm in the mood to be creative after hours, I consider illustrating or looking for a lettering opportunity. She is just refreshing, talented, and I've followed her for years. I read her books to my kids, and it means so much to me that she's still so down to earth and kicking ass. Well done.
