Since 1995 the Sector Network Rural Development Africa brings together a multitude of rural development experts. Their specialising in many fields allows for the network to deal with virtually all aspects of rural development and sustainable management of natural resources in Africa. And since rural development is not a matter that could be treated in isolation, we view the interlinked nature of its critical issues in the broader perspective of economic development and good governance practice.

Agroecological Business Model: Healthy Food Through Sustainable Production with Solar Irrigation
Malawian agripreneur Febbie Kandaya uses solar irrigation to grow bananas, oranges and peppers, enabling her to harvest all year round.
Next to adapting her agricultural production, the 30-year-old's goal is also to become a focal point for young farmers who want to gain knowledge and hands-on experience with technologically modern agriculture: "I got into agribusiness to combat youth unemployment and Malawi's heavy dependence on imported crops."
Agroecology and employment promotion can go hand in hand to drive an ecological, economic and social transformation of Sub-Saharan Africa's agricultural systems while tackling unemployment.
