On this trip we had to replace the drive belt on Roxy's
Quad on the way in.
We had a thunder storm roll through that startled us
awake in the night as lightning struck above us on the
hill, followed by the immediate roll of thunder. Then the
rain came down. A cloud burst of heavy rain that ran
down the hill and into the tent as well as pooling in the
tarp covering it. We had to push up on the roof of the
tent from the inside to drain the pooling water and to
prevent the tent from collapsing under the weight.
Our beds were cots and bed sized air mattresses
preventing our bedding from getting wet but anything
sitting on the floor got wet. The storm moved past
and as I began to dose off again I could hear distant
thunder.
