Homesteading on bare land. We moved out of the city and purchased 40 acres of farm land on top of a very windy hill. The simple country living with the family is very rewarding. We built an off-grid cabin, outhouse, and planted a garden. tiny home life. We have some alternative energy of solar power and wind turbine now and will be expanding in the near future. The acreage has a small creek running through the property which has been fun for adventures and stories. Our golden-doodle lily has been a joy out here on the homestead and fits right in with several cats, chickens, and local swans that live within view. Our chicken coop and barn has been the most recent additions and you will see some fun woodworking and carpentry skills as we expand the growing and self-sustaining homestead.
Review RV WESTINGHOUSE [Dual Fuel 4500] Generator
I purchased the Champion for my home backup but dad went with the Westinghouse igen 4500.
This is a dual fuel machine with ability to run propane or unleaded gas. He decided not to go with the larger Westinghouse 12500 dual fuel generator or the similar Cummins generator.
Westinghouse made this 5000 Peak Watt Super Quiet Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator including a remote electric persuading him as a better choice with both Gas & Propane Power.
Dad is a frequent camper and needed an RV Ready 30A Outlet. A remote start key fob allows you to start and stop this generator from distances up to nearly 250 feet away…and great and easy for moms and ladies. The generator can also be started using a traditional recoil pull rope to start.
He enjoys the pull handle a lot! I hope this review to be helpful to all.
Not sure about the tri fuel maybe next purchase?

Testing $150 RYOBI 10in Miter Saw
มุมมอง 1.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This a corded 14amp Ryobi Chop Saw for the homestead. We do not need a contractor quality saw but just for good basic cuts and yes it is good for that as this was on sale. The trigger does get a bit tricky as jerks on squeeze but it has great power to the blade. You can cut 2x6 and 2x4 nicely with this miter saw. I honestly would NOT use this for detailed molding or trim but that is just my opi...

Wild BEES in Nature

How does a honeybee collect the pollen to make honey? As a honey bee flies between colorful aromatic flowers, pollen will stick to the hairs on its body. Interestingly,, instead of letting the pollen transfer to the next flower it visits, the bee uses its legs to brush the pollen toward its hind legs. It is here where stiff hairs called corbiculae, or pollen baskets will trap and hold the polle...

Why Planted Potatoes Fail? Eyes | SPROUTS
Just wondering how many years are the tires good for before changing them. Mine are 13 years old and i barely used mine but need to change that inner tube. Tire looks in somewhat good condition just hard and can't put the on after inserting the tube.
perhaps if you used only hand tools you would keep warmer
I thought about that. I just bought an old bow saw and an old miter saw. Maybe future video?
I picked up this particular saw for my small framing station. Was square out of the box, but absolutely hate the safety switch. Other than that I love it.
The grill tabs above and left and right of the center light housing bolt are not snapped in place properly.

If you are going to run gasoline in the generator there are a few things that you should do. 1 Always mix fuel stabilizer in the gasoline (PRI-G is the best but Stabil is good enough). You might want to run something like Marvil mystery oil or Lucas fuel treatment for extra lubrication. 2 Try to run the generator dry (or at a minimum empty the carb bowl). 3 Octane is not a measure of power but resistance to ignition. You can use the 87 octane perfectly fine (Most generators say use 87 octane). High octane is not worth the extra money. 4 This might be excessive but find a good spark plug and use it (Many good generators come with low quality spark plugs, and/or improperly gaped spark plugs).
Silly question from a female with limited knowledge on generators. So the Marvil mystery oil is added to the oil area correct? I have some STP oil treatment but will be purchasing some Marvil mystery oil because I keep hearing positive reviews about it.
@@steffiejoe Marvel mystery oil is a STRANGE thing. It can be added to oil or fuel. If added to oil it can act as a cleaner and help get some contaminates into solution. What I am referring to is adding the oil to the fuel to improve upper cylinder lubrication (do not use a lot). This is not necessary but at the same time it can be beneficial. Some say it reduces friction, some says it improves compression. What I understand is that it can work to slightly improve fuel economy (not by big numbers). I also think a good spark plug is necessary. I run an iridium spark plug in my generator and it runs better with Iridium compared to the stock one. The real issue with running gas in a generator is not the fuel itself but that the fuel is hygroscopic-ish (It attracts water). When water is attracted to the fuel it combines with the ethanol in the fuel and causes a lot of problems. This is the main reason fuel goes bad. Fuel stabilizers help keep fuel good but they tend to do little with fuel attracting water (HEET is something that helps but it is just Methanol and Methanol blends with the water helping it burn a little better).
Thanks for sharing!
Don’t forget to run it on high octane gas with stabilizer gas once in a while, moisture in propane will corrode the internals of carburetor . Let it run out of gas or propane when you shut it off .
Seriously, no one talks about this. I’m focusing on using propane to avoid the water and gasoline issues. Never heard that propane can have moisture issues also and corrode the carburetor.
@ I didn’t know it either, I thought buying a fuel fuel generator is the answer to stale gas problem in a generator, till I watched this : th-cam.com/video/DSMhytHSmBE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Sp3icGD0gZkt6K_h
That's a lot better than plucking them I've just got new clippers like that one of my dogs doesn't like getting them plucked so thought I'd try this 🎉
You won't regret buying that miter saw, I have the cordless version which is apprx. 3 years old now and it works perfectly, never gave me any problems. I also own Makita, DeWalt, Rigid and Skil power tools and so far the Ryobi power tools has held their own
Your DAD would have made a better choice with the Champion generator, Westinghouse generator’s have a reputation for bad inverter board’s.
I can’t find a champion at the same rating or in a duel fuel with a remote. The remote makes a major difference. Champions has electric start but I struggle with the pull start generators. I read champion does not do remote start on propane generators because of a NEC code, something about it’s dangerous to use a remote. I don’t really understand, tried to search NEC for the specific code but no luck.
This clown is working with shoes on, but he allows his son to walk around and help him wearing socks?!! Ever heard of nails, splinters, dropping wood on toes?! 🤡 Father of the Year goes to this genius! Remember, you’re the parent and he’s the child! Smh!!
What’s the attraction of Champion generators? Price? I bought my Honda generator fully assembled with a store warranty. Delivered to my house & wheeled into my shed. It came with oil in the engine & enough gas to try it out. I’ve had it for seven years & it starts on the first pull. It delivers clean 60 cycle power better than the power company provides. The Honda on economy mode is 54 decibels. A lot less than 74 decibels. The Honda is nominally rated at 5500 watts & I’ve tested it to 9200 watts.
Yea add the 3000 dollar difference for less power with your Honda
@ If you need more power than 9200 watts? Then you can buy another EU 7000is. That will double your available power. As for price? You can’t put a price on safety. I contemplated buying a second EU 7000is? We have town water & sewer. We have a propane stove & dryer. Our hot water is on demand from our oil furnace. The only big draw is the 2-1/2 ton central air. With everything on in our 1700 sqft house we draw 3600 watts. That’s including the central air. We have plenty of reserve power.
@@johnclyne6350 yes you make some valid points but it was strictly price consideration for me and our family.
@ We lost power after storm Isais & we had our Honda generator & it performed flawlessly. We were all without power for three days. My neighbors saw we were not affected at all & wanted to know why? They were not even aware we had a generator? That’s how quiet our generator is. They all came over to see our set up. They took lots of pictures & wanted to know if we were happy with it? Then Ofcourse the conversation turned to price. They were in utter shock over our cost ($14K). I told them that to treat it like an insurance policy. You hope you never need it? If you do your family is safe. The next storm we had we lost power for a day. One neighbor never bought a generator. The other two didn’t buy what I recommended. One bought a champion. His wouldn’t start. The other bought a little suitcase style model. None complained but were jealous that ours was very competent. Last summer the neighbor with the Champion had to have his serviced. The carburetor was fouled with stale gas & it needed a full tuneup. Meanwhile my generator is 7 years old & all I’ve done is change the oil once a year. I’m going to see if his starts for the next storm? My money is on it won’t start again. His Champion is soo loud it could wake the dead. When his is on? You can’t hear mine standing next to mine. If you plan on sleeping with your generator running at night? Better get ear plugs.
Convert it to tri-fuel, running on propane or natural gas means no gummed up carb. Plus on NG at your house it can essentially run forever.
Thats a 70s Model Caddillac!!! Gas Guzzler lol!!!!!!!!!!
I just got a champion 6500w generator and so far it's been awesome.. I'll be ready for the next hurricane 👌
prefer the Dual Fuel models and run propane exclusively
I just discovered a forest in MA that has the similar spooky vibe & kinda empty tree souls

The video is 4 yrs. old, but it still works! It helped me to replace both tires and tubes on my old wheelbarrow. Thanks for posting!
Thanks so much for your video! Just patched up the old inner tube on my wheel barrow that's holding, but could not have re-installed it properly without your help. Cheers!
You are welcome and thanks for the encouraging words and inspiring us to do more videos like this one.
Did you make this wren nest box?
Hi my father did. These two halves fit together precisely. He is a woodworker and turns bowls and does carvings on youtube. @nordicwoodshop6870
Helpful video, especially the tip on inserting the tube with the tire still on the rim.
How high do you put bottom ones off floor
Henry is a real good helper!
Looks nice, and great to get your kids building. I guess wind storms, lots of rain and mosquitos are not a problem in your area. That build on my property would not last a season
Thanks 👍
Thumbs up to Henry😎 who said, "Put the cap on the stem"
My first comment does AAA batteries are the worst. There are about 1/10 of power of a double A battery. So they burn out fast..
Good to know. Thank you!
I have Emisar d4k Sofrin sp36 Sofrin sp 10 pro Sofrin hs41 (headlamp) Acebeam pokelit (AA) Thurnite saver (AA) And always lokking to get more, i just ordered some keychain lights from emisar, just twisty lights that take a singla AAA, going to hand them out to friends and family And i want to pick up a second headlamp so i have one to loan out as well as mine, but no clue which one i want to get yet, been looking at the armytek wizard c2 but havnt decided yet I personally like anduril 2 lights, and my main 3 are anduril, but i need to get some easier to use ones for lianers because you cant teach everyone anduril or anduril 2
🙂👍🔪
Good video. But the 30 “shelf supports” are unnecessary. Simply fasten the OSB to the front and back horizontal supports, only.
it's only supported by the hardware, you should brace the legs.
Good idea. Appreciate that.
Thanks for this video, I did exactly what u did and it worked,
Framing squares are cheap
10mins on and 15 minutes off equates to 9 hours and 45 minutes of irrigation per day. My aeroponic towers need less than 25 minutes a day. Measure how much water the plants remove from the reservoir per day and you`ll find its a tiny fraction of the amount you are pumping through the tower.
Thanks for the vid. I made three fixed shelves from the floor to 7 ft, with adjustable shelves in between. The fixed shelves are affixed into my concrete wall with Tapcon screws and the top two shelves are supported further with 2x4 's going vertically from the previous shelves.
Take Henry out to the movie, video arcade, and pizza! Put the cap on first before trying to adjust the inner tube and tire!!! 😊
I can not find any videos about my specific way of installing mine. I did find other methods and a reason for the problem. Was hoping you could help or a viewer can. So I purchased the heated chicken waterer from FandH this winter. It's just a 5 gallon bucket with a handle, top, and the plug for the heater unit. These do have the water nipples installed on the side of that bucket, not the bottom like you have. This is nice for me because I don't have to hang the bucket. It just sets on the ground. So I purchased water nipples and a 5 gallon bucket to make my own. The package for the nipples does say to install the nipples to my spacing on the side of the bucket. So I did my first nipple. It was not leaking, did good. I continued to put in 4 more nipples around the bucket generously spaced. I added water just over the nipples. To make sure my threads didn't leak. They do not. My problem is all the nipples are now leaking from where the chicken would peck at. It's set up exactly the same as my water I bought from FandhH. So I looked online, and it says the nipples at that specific area will leak water if my water pressure is incorrect. But it was referring to then using PVC pipe and not a 5 gallon bucket like mine. So I can't figure out what I did wrong to stop the leak. Can anyone please help and let me know what to do? Now I have holes in a 5 gallon bucket I don't want to waste. But I prefer the nipples on the side and not under the bucket. Thank you!!!!!!!
The bucket might not be airtight allowing air in (not through the waterers) and causing leakage. Ideally you would all the nipples being on a similar level as the others as well if possible. If the leak is coming from the threads or if air is getting in through the threads then you could apply pvc cement or a water sealant to the threads and twist it back in place before it dries. I hope someone has helped you or you found a solution that worked if what I said doesn’t help.
Thank you for sharing! At around 8:45, how did you secure the right ends of the horizontal 2x4s?
You could have saved yourself a lot of measuring and marking for the repeated cuts by using a fence with your mitre saw and then using a stop block on it.
Thank you for sharing this. I think I might have spent 4 hours messing with the tire, then I saw yours. Found it a little hard at first, putting the inner tube in, but got there. Then disaster, when I came to put the little piece in where you put the air into, well mine turned out to want to go the other way. So, will have to restart it all over again,
Very helpful, and done without drama and heavy rock music too!
I have an x350 2wd with chains and 4 weights and the 44 and it blew through close to 2 feet of snow the other day with little to no problems! Id like to upgrade to a 700 or 1 series eventually
