2022 Starboard Wing Board vs. 2022 Starboard Take Off
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
They both do wing board things, but which one is better for you? The short answer is if you're an absolute beginner or flat-water wing foiler, go with the Wing Board. If you're chasing swell and waves, go with the Take Off. You can't go wrong with either one of these boards. They are both loaded with great features to make your time out on the water really fun! We have a few of these boards in ...

Asking For A Friend: What Do Those Numbers On My Sail Mean?
great explanation, thanks!
You are welcome!
Hi Britt. How much does this Patrick beginner board cost ?
They are $1799
Might be able to save a step with the initial downhaul, where there is just a slight bit of tension before you attach the boom and add outhaul. Then you don’t have to back off downhaul to seat the cams. You will figure out how much you can initially downhaul and still seat the cams.
what advantage would the shorter version have for omeone who can ride well over the normal LT? it's shorter and more buff which defeats the purpose of the LT to start with?
The School edition is a great beginning board being wider and easier to sail when you are starting to windsurfing or if it is choppy it is more stable. We use it to teach people windsurfing.
This is a 102 MK1 classic fuselage. Could we change the front wing to an SLR 880? I see that the mounting place is the same, but I'm not sure about the fuselage. The measurement from the front to the mast box is 24 cm for the MK1, but the fuselages for the SLR are 120 cm in total length and 45 cm from the mast mounting point to the front. So, I don't know if the lift will work.
Hi, nice! I use the same Glide 2 sail. What should the wind direction be when pumping? I usually go 15-30 degrees downwind, and when I start foiling, I turn to the tack or 10-15 degrees upwind to regain my position. I can usually reach a speed of about 25 km/h, but when there's a wind gap, my speed drops very quickly, so I have to pump again with the sail closed. I don’t have enough space to pump and usually no space to go downwind. How should I pump in that situation (i.e., when going upwind)? Also, what should I do with my legs? Please describe what to do with them for foiling both before and after takeoff, as well as for the fin version.
What board do you use? I think I see a Slingshot?
It was Slingshot Wizard then. I am been using the Severne Alien 145 or a Severne Predator 110 now. It is really astonishing how early they foil compared to the Slingshot Wizards. So much more efficient in getting foiling
It really isn't clear; are these for windfoil (windsurf) setup or other?
At 2:37 the line was threaded in the wrong direction in the sail-pulley. The lines will line up much nicer when it is threaded in the same direction for all the three pulleys in sail, i.e. from the inside (near the mast) to towards the outside . This is peculiar for the Severne RDM extension, while their SDM extension works better the other way around.
Just so you know. I DO race this in our inside estuary and river paddles. I have the carbon top14x28. It is my second fastest board over the 4 km course and my second fastest board over our 10km race. Only my One Edge Pro 2.0 is faster. In side winds , the Waterline is my board of choice as it has almost no side windage. Oh, and it produces almost no wake so trying to draft it is a complete waste of time.
Would you recommend the F_Pace Cam? Still Foiling with my E_Paces and S_Paces, which work pretty well. Wonder if it‘s really worth to get the F_Pace Cam as a dedicated Free Race Foil Sail…
I would recommend the F Pace Cam. It will be shockingly better than the E Paces for sure for foiling. I understand that your S Paces are reasonably good for foiling however the tight leech of the F Pace allows for more control while going fast and power for early foiling. Everytime the loose leech of the S pace twists off and comes back the board goes up and down. The F Pace allows for the board to stay at a consist height for more control particularly while going fast. You will notice a good amount of difference between a S Pace and the F Pace
@@bviehman Thank you for your quick and detailed answer. My foil has so far fitted my 5.4 + 6.2 E_Paces and my 7.3 S_Pace for light wind. What F_Pace size would you recommend?
Hello, my weight is 62kg and I would say I am advanced beginer if that makes sense 😂, what sail size of duotone e pace would you recommend for me to Windsurf 14 -25 knots. Thanks
Size 6.2 four you
I'm a women surfer not a girl.😂😂
In Korea,it's winter so sufers went other summer country I envy you😊
What are the bag dimensions?
Can you use marine grease instead of tefgel
Wow l love it
I see a lot of value in "what they did wrong" videos, and a drone sure adds value. One challenge for me though is keeping track of where the wind is coming from, as she's moving and the camera is moving.
And if you use the second method shown, how do you carry it back from the water to the shore (given the wind direction of this video)?
Carrying the sail over your head downwind is harder but still possible. I typically carry it at my waist downwind especially if it is windy.
Hi! Which board do you use in the video? Hybrid board or foil board?
It is a Windsurf Foil board, The Severne Predator 110. The Predator is super maneuverable. What kind of board are you using?
I use a Goya Bolt foil ready, today tested för the first time my new Superflyer and works well. I just need to find right mast fot position. Before Superflyer i had Supercruiser. Superflyer are much faster. I love that!
Britt's a cool dude, North Beach is a first class shop! I bought my SUP plus Windsup rig from them....Britt is very patient and a great windsurf instructor as well.
She went too far upwind toe side and then she leaned to the inside to grab some wind. Stay downwind while riding the board flat.
Hello, I bought a 57" take off, then bought foot strapps which are sold by 2 why? and where to position them I contacted the company without answer
Thanks.
Well explained !
I might be in Tampa this summer I’d love to take a few lessons if you’re free
For sure! Reach out a week or so before you are coming and we will get you on the schedule!
Really helpful thanks. I’m also just starting to jibe and found this method of going through video step by step quite helpful. Would love to also see a corrected version of a jibe to compare with. 😊
Great tutorial. One thing I noiticed though: While the upper body/sail pumping technic is the same, my experience is that the legs have to work differently depending on whether you're on a foil or a fin. On a fin the legs have to apply a more lateral push against the fin while on the foil the push is a bit more vertical in order to load the wings effectively. I found that this makes a big difference in your ability to make your upper body pumping effort rewarded faster.
Yes, absolutely. There is a difference in foot pressure between fin and foil. I was trying to do a general pumping video rather than a specific foil or fin pumping video
Would be most helpful if you also demonstrated the solution. Some may not know what you mean by “jibing the wing”.
Epic windsurfing, love the youth presence, encourages me to keep pursuing this amazing sport! Hope to be competing eventually haha, relatively new to windsurfing but I think I fell in love with it thanks to my local club, hello from SPSC! Tell Cody I said Hey :) Hope to stop by sometime this summer and maybe try out foiling!
Great video, loved hearing from the racers. Inspiring!
Loved seeing so many girls!
Yes true story.
Great shots and video! They were crushing it out there this weekend, and it was very inspiring to see!
Did the guy travel back to 1980 to record the sound. 😂
Wich one is the better to learn planninf? The 2021 or 2022?
That is one of things Goya worked to improve was the early planing. So I would recommend the 2022
Alíen 125? Severne redwing?

Hello. The Super Flyer can be installed on any board? I have an 2015 starboard futura 144 l windsurf board.
Starting in 2018, Starboards that had a reinforced Foil box were termed Ready To Foil. Deep Tuttle boxes, that are designed for the fin, are made of plastic and lack the reinforcement around the box. Foil boxes are made of carbon and reinforced around the box to deal with the increased load and different physics of the foil. Basically, the foil will fit in your board if it is a deep tuttle and lacks a roof in the box, but the tuttle box will fail and it is hard to tell when the tuttle box will fail. Boards designed for a foil are as different as a slalom board as from a wave board and foil boards do preform far better with a foil than fin board with a foil in it.
@@bviehman Thanks for answering.
Hi, Which board do you use in your video? Hybrid or foil board?
Good review.. Thanks..
I like this and would like to see more if this in the future.. I am an almost jiber.. with no locals to learn from (alaska).. gonna look for anything more you have on jibing/footswitch etc.. then head on out and try again.
If the sail is GA 8.3, please tell me the fin size and joint position. My weight is 83KG.
I notice you say it works great for beginners. Do you recommend the 145l for a 180lb beginner..? I am only just now learning harness and cannot water start yet. I regularly sail a 160l rental and uphaul it but I want to buy my equipment and everyone seems to discourage me from buying anything larger than a 145l saying I will outgrow anything larger too quickly.
Hi Ash, the Goya Volar is a great way to start the next step of windsurfing for you. It is a good board that is easy to use and has a great price. The 145 can be uphauled for sure if you are already uphauling on the rental 160. How much wind do you have where you are sailing? The Volar will last you a few years of learning the windsurfing skills. Learning the Waterstarts, Carve jibes, footstraps, planing will all be handled well with the Volar. It really is a friendly board. As a bit of self plug, we do have the Goya Volars in stock
@@bviehman Thanks for your reply I appreciate it! That is encouraging news to hear for sure. I've been going out at the same spot with winds ranging from hardly any, up to about 17. The issue is it is usually fairly choppy and it's the wave activity that can hinder me when it comes to uphauling. That's why I worry with a 145 and trying to uphaul in choppy water.
Wow we got the wings from you this morning!!! Got the 4.2 wet and it was great. We'll be in touch for a lesson!
Well done interview guys
For an intermediate man of 83 kg is better 5,6 or 5,4?
Awesome!! Thanks for the video
I am 240lbs and looking at the Take Off 7'1 or 6'4 for SUP, playing is waves and winging. I'll use my SS Hover Glide on the board.
Thank you...will a spark rig work in my Kona 1 longboard? What sail would roughly equal 4 meters?
Knfkx
Thanks for the review! Would the 5'8" have enough float to let a 60kg rider sail upwind when NOT on the foil (in case the wind drops in light conditions)? Assuming the rider is a foiling newbie but experienced windsurfer.
You would be able to stay upwind, but when you're schlogging you aren't really able to gain ground going upwind. It would be equivalent to schlogging a windsurfing short board upwind. The 5'8 will have enough float for you, and once you're up on foil, which this board gets up onto foil really easy, then you'll be able to get upwind efficiently.
will a slingshot foil fit onto these boards?
Yeah, you can use Slingshot Foils with these boards.
North Shore hooked me up with a Slingshot Phantasm 928 set for the Wingboard. Love the combo.
