Sad…after 8 months and trimming her within the 8 months I didn’t realize how matted she was. Boy oh boy, my body paid for it lol
How do we dm you for classes? Also are your tools all using detachable blades? I have the hardest time replacing them.

No, I’ve never made a duplicate video over this. Lol I like poodles, I own poodles, and I wear poodle clothing. It doesn’t matter what’s on my grooming jacket.
Which clipper you recommend that is a cheaper option for grooming a giant schnauzer every 4-6 weeks?

What’s the name of the clippers your using that uses the 10 and 5 blade?
@@artrythegreat I use multiple clippers here. Check out my Tools video for in depth on which ones I use.
How do I keep my dog calm, he won't stop moving and his cut looks like crap because of it
@@jacksondavis624 training. You need to train your dog for grooming on table manners and how to be tolerant of handling just like anything else. Once every 6-8 weeks isn’t going to do anything so you need to put your dog on the table multiple times a week. This dog was groomed a few times weekly his whole life from the time he was 8 weeks old.
How painful it must be to be groomed like those. I wonder how many people brush their hair like this.

What a beautiful very well behaved Giant! My husband and I have a Giant Schnauzer and he is the best dog. He's funny and very playful and is such a cuddly love bug. He's a 110# lap dog.
I think these dogs are so beautiful. But I read that they are not a dog you can take to the dog park because they have a tendency to fight with other dogs they don’t know. Is this true? Anybody on here know what their personality is like. I would like a dog to hike with for protection.
@@Toltecgrl Dog parks in general are a bad idea. Working breeds like the Giant are prone to being same sex aggressive or not dog friendly, so group play is not a good idea. Parks are usually full of under-socialized and over stimulated dogs that are not watched properly to prevent incidences. Dogs do not have to be dog friendly to live a fulfilling life, only dog neutral in appropriate scenarios.

@@shainalafleur8775 it was an example somebody gave on a video. I don’t take my German Shepherd to dog parks because of disease. But I was curious what the disposition was of a Schnauzer. My German Shepherd is an old fellow now he can’t hike with me anymore. So I was looking at the schnauzer as a possibility. Thank you for your response!
@@Toltecgrl Their temperament is that of a working dog. Guard dog like nature, aloof and suspicious of strangers, super loyal to family, but VERY high training and grooming maintenance. I have more info on my TikTok @theweirddoggirl

Thank you for this. Along with the previous, full groom, video and this, it has really helped me with grooming my pups. A few years ago, I had an issue with a groomer and decided to take on the grooming myself. Since, I have continually searched for quality videos on how to 'properly' groom a Schnauzer. My poor Standard has been my guinea pig as I have tried many different grooming products on him. Most of the tools you mentioned in this video are what I have landed on. The only thing I don't seem to have is a long pin slicker brush. Again, thank you for video. Much appreciated!

It’s actually concentration on the moving animal in my care, but appreciate the opinion lol.
What are the risk of giving a schnauzer a short cut all over?
There are none. The hair will grow back. This guy has gotten many shorter maintenance shaves prior to this video as an example. If the hair doesn’t grow back then the dog needs to see a vet as there are underlying medical issues.

Thanks for the info. I've been using a comb for beard daily to help keep them clean, and using a slicker brush on coat. I have my dogs groomed every 5 weeks. I'm just trying to avoid mats and keep dogs happy on grooming days. My dogs love the groomer which makes me feel good.

Do you plan on cropping the ears, or keeping natural? I want a giant schnauzer too!
@@enomisaura I think I'll get one with cropped ears. The natural one seems too floppy for me. I had a spaniel before and the floppy ears just for me :)
Giant schnauzer is the best dog I’ve ever had. I’ve had pit bull German Shepard Labrador cocker spaniel and GS is the best.
Get one. I've had 2 and they're awesome dogs. Mine's with me 24/7, even at work and she's my best friend. Great guard dog but friendly with kids, and adults if I tell her they're ok. She loves to work, very intelligent. Maggie's 8, I wanted cropped ears but at the time none of our local vets would do it, saying it's inhumane. But they will now as they realized ear infections and mites are REAL. Makes me so mad😏 But you won't regret getting a Giant, good luck!

No. It’s very rare to find a professional groomer that will teach a client/pet owner how to groom their own dog. I teach private lessons here in Texas.

This IS a full groom. The entire dog is groomed here.
I just have to lol a little. She cut every piece of hair on this boy's body significantly. For sure a Full groom. Not sure what you were hoping for. He's just not mostly naked, because she grooms him often.
Would you happen to know any groomers in Georgia who will groom a GS similar to how you do it? Thanks. (I had an argument with a local groomer who wanted to groom my GS similar to a mini and add a skirt.)
None of the 3 breeds of Schnauzers have skirts. It’s called an underline. It sounds like that groomer isn’t properly educated on the correct schnauzer pattern. I’d find one that is knowledgeable.
Does this breed need to be groomed every two months or can it be groomed every 6 months?
Every 6 months is FAR too infrequent for any dog that requires grooming. That’s asking for a very poorly behaved dog, health issues associated with neglect, and painful twice a year shave downs. Any high maintenance breed should be groomed every 4-8 weeks depending on length given. My personal dogs (including this guy) are bathed at least once a week and groomed every 3-6 weeks.
