I got into radio when I was 15, but was alwYs fascinated with TV cameras and always wanted to learn to operate one. I had a chance to play with. TK44 in my mid 20s. Always wished Id learned to be a TV cameraman.

If only Sally had said to Hal Gurnee, "Hal Does it bother you when Dave tries to direct?"

Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other

I remember watching this when it first aired. At the time, I wanted to work in TV as a studio cameraman, so you can bet your bottom dollar I was glued to the TV set watching this segment.

My son the vidiographer would be in pain watching the TK being abused.

People don't understand how heavy those cameras weight and how tedious it was then to operate them. Its a job truly that takes time and effort.

They were definitely NOT tedious to operate. I operated studio cameras for years. They were a dream to use. They were definitely heavy but all ran on pneumatic pedestals, which means they could literally be moved with a pinky finger. A marvel in engineering actually.

Funny but a little painful to watch! I know just how Hal feels, after teaching many at COX public Access studios.

4:00 in.... one of the most annoying thing when you're trying to frame a tight shot - and the Talent moves it around!

so Im guessing this went onto a laserdisc, so you could play back one frame at a time or go straight to a frame? Sears had a 1980 or 81 catalog on LD.

I guess it takes a while getting to the weight of the thing. Of course it's probably easier to hold still than a cell phone.....

I properly balanced camera on a ped like that is not too heavy for saying that camera with lens is about 145 pounds, but it does take some getting used to.

It's all counterbalanced and very easy. Still takes a lot of practice to get good at it.
