I'm on a mission to make 100 documentaries about 100 humans who are making this home planet of ours better, funnier or more interesting. From climate initiatives to health to art and culture.
I find people who inspire me and I turn their stories into these films for the world to get inspired.
Hopefully this can lead to a ripple effect where more people get inspired to do good.
I'm a filmmaker since 17 years and became a TH-camr as late as December 2022. Join me on this ride, I'm sure it's gonna be a good one!

Building a swimming pool defying the monsoon season
SPOTLIGHT STORY: BUILDING THE SWIMMING POOL. This is the story of the swimming pool at Lost Paradise that Martin built. See the full documentary about Martin here: th-cam.com/video/-l81xESXnis/w-d-xo.html
If you decide to build a huge swimming pool in Gili Trawangan. Make sure you do it in the dry season. This is not what Martin did. The weather was getting more and more shifty and it nearly destroyed the entire dream.
Spotlight stories are interesting niche topics that I stumble upon when building the documentaries. They are super interesting but would take up too much space in the main film. So they get their own shorter format versions instead. You can view more of them here: th-cam.com/video/Bb52uFO6LRM/w-d-xo.html

It worked, but was not in any way inspirational. This video shows the complete overhaul me and Isak did on a very tiny budget. And the big light source we constructed turned out so good! You did it the right way. That’s for sure. You preserved the place instead of destroying it with construction lorries etc. it will have soul there.
Wow. Beautiful.
wow, back in 2020 i worked in Gili T for 6 months as a dive master. Watching this documentary, and see the places i used to call home, made me feel so grateful. I loved the video, incredible story. Please keep sharing these amazing stories :)
Inspirational, i just left my 9-5 and thinking of doing something in Northern Thailand. Thanks for making this and very nice production.

Bra jobbett 👏🏼❤
Impressive journey! Good luck in the future 👊
Nice human adventure . What kind of camera are you using for day & night filming. Gili island is very laid back
I can relate to this in many ways...
True proof that with perseverance and determination, anything is possible. Way to go! You can see the pride in his eyes
What an amazing young man!
one word for people like this! Legend
Love your work Robin and thank you for sharing with the world these truly incredible people and their stories 🙌🙌
Well thank you for one of the most heartwarming comments ever 🥰

Wow, just came across this, I have done a very similar journey in Sri Lanka and I am on the 8th year since buying my plot of land , and I can relate to so many of the hardships that come with this, working 7 days a week back in the uk trying to pay to build my guest house. And it’s so true how you question your choices , and the depression which creeps it way in as you spend every possible free time you have just working. Trying to eat just 1 meal a day to save money. Make yourself utterly go without to try get to the end. Constant stress and pain inside. And yes it is an obsession knowing you can’t stop because you came so far Congratulations to Martin for getting to the end . Some people look at people like us as being lucky and fortunate but not knowing the absolute sacrifice which comes with trying to do this without any financial help . Respect, you can make dreams happen but it will take its toll to get there
What’s Martin’s IG?
Inspirational! Have guts trust his heart ❤️
Love 💜
How old is he? I'll try to visit going to Gili islands soon
A joy to get to know Martin's story. Very good presentation. Excellent in the sense that I now feel somehow connected. Please continue to show persons with such perserverance and gratitute. These are lives well lived. Think of it, someone arrives in a small village in Bali. Gains the vision to build. The vision completed by the village, and now he is releasing it to them - in the sense that they have a well run resort. How many travelors woud love to visit! Easy to understand the joy and appreciation of all involved.
This was enjoyable. I feel like a mini tour of the finished resort was missing, to see what he actually built. There were glimpses, but it left me wanting to see more.
Thank you so much for making this. I have been fascinated by Alonso and you gave us a fascinating and so very human glimpse into his tremendous talent and background.
Amazing video Robin!! 👏🏼👏🏼 I’ve been following Josep’s work since last year and i just felt an instant connection to his personality that u uncovered in this special. That shows how individual his original work actually is! Beautiful ❤
I can relate so much to this guy! I’m currently working on a beach cottage myself and having my struggles, it’s the reason why I’m staying out of a relationship until my beach villa is done.
Very touching and great story! This has inspired me to keep faith and keep doing what I’m doing until I reach success! Sending love ❤️ and blessings from Jamaica 🇯🇲
that he describes himself as a hobby pianist i think might 99 percent of piano players, professional or not, want to quit, no?!
To someone who wants to be the best, I see it as quit-inducing. To someone who wants to be good, I see it as engage-inducing.
Well done! Inspiring and lovely story and great guy Martin!
The funny thing about Josep is that he is actually a cellist and not a pianist. But his piano skills are remarkable and his knowledge of how to write music for piano in the style of different composers is no less than mind-blowing. His arrangements are perfectly crafted to really sound like the composer he is imitating. To do this, you need to have a certain knowledge of the piano repertoire that mostly only pianists would have. The graphics on his videos are superb and he actually explains what he is doing on the piano, like Alberti bass, modulations and so on. Truly amazing.
Greetings from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬. Inspiring story.
great video - great human
I'm on almost a similar journey.. in my fifth yr...created a unit to process my tea..a garden with tea..and building houses from.natural materials plentiful in my area but slowly dying ..sometimes it's tedious, boring and very discouraging...as u don't see the result soon..but it's a process..u cannot speed it up..u have to enjoy the pace..and will eventually find joy in things, what most would find inane..
This is a beautiful documentary. I fell in love with Bali years ago when I travelled and went to Nusa Penida. I thought I would live there and every year I thought about it. It hasn't happened yet! But listening to Martin speak honestly about the ups/downs of building a dream is similar to what I'm doing now with a boat renovation. There are weeks you really question your life, your decisions, exactly as he says, and don't so much enjoy the journey at the time. It takes time and space to evolve to appreciate the journey, and you have to appreciate the bad and good parts. Thank you for sharing this, and please keep up the good work. Send my appreciation to Martin for being strong 💪
Where is Martin's social midias?
I still wonder how Martin got enough water to his place and how he is making money nowadays
thank you. love this
Since the workers run the place now, maybe you can make it an employee owned business?
There is nothing impressive about this. So many people have built Much Much more and better than this, and in a fraction of the time. This guy is no inspiration. It's a pretty dumpy place and he has not exactly blazed a trail making a contribution to the world. Seriously - he may be a nice guy but this is nothing but a tiny poorly built hotel. So many people with fewer resources have completed much more impressive projects. Please set your goals much higher than this guy.
Your comment is really contributing to the world though. Thank you.
Proud of you brother
WOW !!! In the Right Place at the right time.. It is needed.. Congratulations..
Thank you for your support!
It's So Nice !! It looks like the Roman Baths..
Haha yeah maybe that was the inspiration :)
