I actually turned 64 this year! HA I sang that song a few times that day! Always loved that tune ❤ Funny it seemed like 64 was such a long time away got here before you knew it 😅
Did i encourage you to write this song with my comment a while back? and i hope Jesse really did write a song about your lyrics I'll let you know when my song for you is done❤
Hey Daniel, you may have sent this comment to the wrong person. I didn’t write this song and I don’t know a Jesse. But I will look forward to the song you’re writing for me! Doc
@@docpatterson7768 sorry your song came up on my saved playlist as i was writing that comment but im enjoying these new song concepts I've been in a rut I'll get back when i finish your song my friend
Fantastic Doc, and thanks for saying that I have keyboard skills. By the way, you gave me the idea to cover "This Land Is Your Land" and I mentioned in my description that I got the idea from you. 🎹 👍
Happy Fourth of July, Doc! Those old set of pipes of yours are working just fine blending these three traditional songs together. I like your fedora, nice touch! :-)
Another great cover of a great song Doc. And sorry if too many questions but I'm curious where "Doc" came from? Also, I'm guessing you are of Scandinavian descent? Swedish or Norwegian? You probably figured out I'm of Italian descent. 🎹 👍
Thanks William. Dock Ellis of the 1970’s Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team, is my favorite all time pitcher. Consequently, a friend started calling me Doc and it just caught on. My wife says my ancestry had to have involved an alien from another planet; I guess I’ll just go with that! Doc
Nice one, Doc. That’s the advantage using a thumb pick, the ability to fingerpick and strum throughout your tunes. I enjoyed your version here of this classic. There’s one song in mind that you might enjoy. Hopefully I’ll post that one soon. This old Dutch boy takes a while to break out a cover. Enjoy the upcoming holiday my friend! :-)
Thanks Bret, I sure wish I could sing like Jim Reeves with that velvety baritone voice he had. Looking forward to that new tune you intend to upload. Doc
That's lovely Doc. I don't know if you like or want recommendations, but I really like the music these kids (I mean they're adults, but I'm an old fart) are making. www.youtube.com/@jackanddaisymusic/videos
Thanks John, I hear what you’re saying but I just don’t listen to much music being made by current artists. I kid about not knowing anything past 1980 but that’s not far from the truth. Doc
Great job on this Beatles classic Doc! Your fingerpicked rhythm is masterful, and I love the way you deliver the vocal melody lines. You put your own flavor and stamp on this one. Very nicely done my friend!
I'm already losing my hair and you played this like a fine bottle of wine, Doc. You sure can make that old Gibson sing. Enjoy your upcoming weekend!! :-)
Thanks Bret, That second verse is highlighted with the worst British accent ever. But that’s what you get when you combine Pittsburghese and Mississippi twang with Liverpool Anglish. Enjoy your weekend my friend. Doc
Absolutely fantastic performance here Doc! You deliver this Tillis/Dill classic in masterful style. Great rhythm picking and that vocal is something special. Delivered with great feel and passion. Nicely done! Count Generations a new fan and subscriber! - Jay
Love to hear an old guy sing love songs. It brings an aura of a long tired and tested relationship, a deep and broad hope. The intensity of young love is great, but the depth of old love is like honey and roses. Have you heard Summerlea by Fred Eaglesmith? If not, you might like it. Best of day, Harper
Beautiful song and it sounds like the birds are singing along with you. Stunning guitar picking, as always. I *really* enjoyed your version here, Doc! :-)
Appreciate ya Bret. I have bluebirds, cardinals, Carolina wrens, and mocking birds that occasionally join in…and sometimes the woodpeckers add a little rhythm! Doc
You made me chuckle John. Those are four crocheted stretches of paracord left over from my bushcraft days. They’ll render about 30’ of cordage. I also always carry a knife (SAK Hiker) and a way to start a fire (ferro rod). Thanks, Doc
@@docpatterson7768 I can see you using the knife as a slide, but I won't comment on the ferro rod, mostly because I never heard of that before. I can start a fire with my guitar pick.
@@johnwattdotca Hey John, my Grandpap played slide guitar. I’ve watched him many a time when he would pull out his Case brand pocketknife and use it for a slide in a pinch. Doc
@@docpatterson7768 Good evening Doc! I've got a late 1960s Pink Floyd slide trick for you, if you will. It depends on the slide, metal or glass, and the strings. Take a slide above the fifth fret, A, and move it back and forth sideways as fast as you can until you get a feel for it, and then the harmonics come out, very loud. You can move up easily to get... uh... uh... expressive? artistic? psychedelic?, but it fades when you go lower. I thought it was a synth on the record until I was shown this. I use tools my parents and grandparents had, nothing musical, unless you can play a saw. Did I say slide at A minor? Ghost Riders in the Sky, with a ghostly steel guitar slide sound.
Doc, that’s amazing. I just discovered you. I got Willie’s book ‘Energy Follows Thought’ and I’m going through his songs one at a time. When I got to ‘Half a Man’ I listened to your cover. Very nice. Love your voice and playing. ❤
I really enjoy your videos Doc. Great singing and picking. By the way, I recorded a few videos today with my sister Donna singing at our house in Montauk New York. I plan on uploading them when I get home to New Jersey in a few days. Thanks 👍
Another great cover, Doc! JP is a good storyteller. I *really* enjoyed your version here. I'm working a boat load of hours at my job and trying to squeeze in time to post that JP song I was telling you about, Angel From Montgomery.
Like your style on this one. It came across my TH-cam suggestion feed. Glad I clicked in!

Great as always Doc! Did I detect a British accent? I'm 2 years too late for this song. 🎹 👍
