What are some times during the daylight hours thy the FEC regularly comes through Daytona? I'm down there every summer & can hardly ever catch one.
This couldnt be the northbound Silver Star. The nb train leaves Jacksonville at around 11:30 at night.
exclusively on the Auto train though. It has been running since the 80s
no no no, that's Dash. ( i just know it. lol)
I think ill go to Edison tomorrow.
I didnt think Marcs go down that far. Cool.
Awesome as usual.
I wanna go there.
Nice but I didnt know Amtrak delivers autos too.
Is Dashes last name Nine? lol had to say that.
wow animals are amazing and smart too. so cute
OMG Brian cant get no better than that. sweet.
SWEEEET! wish I was on that.
great catch
I was on a sleeping car on that exact train!!!! I went to ORLANDO for Spring Break.
Where is this abandoned freight dock in OC anyway?
Wow!! It only takes two engines for that train these days? Back in the late 1980's it took 3 P-30CH's; I have photos of them. Too bad none of the "Pooches" escaped the scrapper.
no I meant the engines were in elephant style. Which means that they are running in the same direction. Do you know why they call it that?
For a minute there, it sounded like the two trains were on collision course!!
Who U calling elephant 108???????????
What do U mean Brian? my camera olso takes 10 second segments only i put my segments together to make it look like a million dollar segmented video...whatever. lol
do you know who I am?
You betcha, Jimbo there...
The camera I used only takes video in 10 second segments. When I get a big boy job like Jim I'll upgrade :)
Hey why do you only take the beginning of the video and not the whole thing.
Nice elephant style catch. Was that Jim in the video?
Its your world, im just riding on it. Nice clean MU train.
I like the rumble
Cool
Super
Thats what Im talking about- At BoundfastmoversBrook.
Aha! your the video man
Good shot great sound.
it was seven cars, two engins= 9 total
Is it just me, or did I just count an unusual 7 car consist on a set configuration that made 6 cars the norm?
That's the Vermonter.
like i was really there!
Sweet- great sound
Awesome- you caught the 5299(ES44DC) the 941(ES44AC) and 8334 (SD40-2)
Very very cool dude.
In August 1976, I rode the Silver Star from Columbia, SC to Orlando, FL and visited Sea World and Disney World.
The lower pitched horn that's on the Amtrak unit is the Nathan K5LA. Check out DieselAirhorns website. When you get there, click on "Sound Library". Lots of good horn samples.
which one's the deeper and the shallow one
train 97 & 98 rock
Yup, the old bridge just to the east of the 19/92 bridge. From there you get a great view of the tracks.
You were standing on the lake monroe bridge, right?
What were the boxcars on the end of the Amtrak for? I know that the Southwest Chief used to pull them as well. At one time they preceded the baggage and passenger cars, but I think they were later put at the rear end of the train, as evidently on the Silver Star.
Neat horn action! Amtrak's Nathan K5LA horn vs the CSX's Nathan K5H. Both melodic.
Initially I am facing south and the Amtrak is headed north; right behind me is a wye that sends trains to Baldwin, FL [a route not used by Amtrak]. If you look closely in the latter third of the video, you can see the freight headed off camera to the left. That's the other horn you hear, as both trains are sounding for the compound crossing.
What a clip! I'm glad that signs of the ACL still remain 40 years after the SCL merger. About 2 years ago I read in a magazine that the Auto Train is the longest, regularly scheduled passenger train in the world.
