Thanks so much Anita. lovely reminders of years ago. You are so thoughtful as always. H ope all with you is well. Love and God Bless, Imelda.
I 'grew up' in the Industrail School(St Josephs) in the 1960's; In the show it is photo, titled: "Lower Salthill" on the image! Anyone know where the original of that image might be? Also: The school I spent 10years in, did not have that TOWER as part of the structure!!! Fascinating! Last year, 2023, I went back to Galway, from Australia, for a 2 week visit, and parkrun! I also visited the thatched cottage, in the the photo! But that, is another story!!
I hope that you came back to a happier galway, than the one that I am assuming, you had as a child. Best wishes.
@@pburke5274 I sure did...and lurved every minute! Those ghosts are finally put 2 rest! Thanks!

😊 Wow... great pics, thanks for sharing I grew up in (Emmet Ave, Old Mervue). It was lovely to see Twiggy again.
Has anybody any photos,of Lenihans shop,in mervue?
This is my most favorite song along with Philip Parris Lynott/ Thin Lizzy & Rory Gallagher's brilliant hard and gentle rocking songs, I spent a little time of my misspent youth having a great time in Galway city, way west in the hills of connemara, I have never regretted a thing I did or said way back in those days, Later in life, I meet a man called Henry Blosse LYNCH want me to buy his old home in Partry House near Ballinrobe, Co Mayo with its 5 lakes and 7 islands and 1000 acres of hill and lowlands and shooting rights ( I could not find the money so I did not buy it, Henery told me the story about a very sand story his very very distant great grandfatrher from way back in time who in about 1493. hung his son out the window of a building in Galway city, ( A story I wish I had not heard) .If had the power I would relive most of that time again in Galway/ Connemara, It has been rumored that Jesus take his summer holidays and later autumn weekend breaks around those parts, if you happen to see him, speak to him but don't ask too many questions as this will be his free time away from the troubles and worries of this world
Muito bom relembrar o passado!!! felicidades amigo!!!😘👍👐

Hello, I am from Mexico, it will probably take time to read this comment, but I am looking for information about rural life in Galway because I want to write a novel and what better if it comes from someone native. What I'm interested in is the following: The names of the towns What was life like? Did people have their own farms or did they work for someone else? What did they plant and harvest? What animals did they raise? the economy, health, parenthood, religion etc. Any information would be good for me, I have searched the internet but it is not so complete. If you can help me I would really appreciate it. (Sorry if my English is not good or understandable.)
Hi Perla, I'll get back to you with info requested.
@@johncooke8959 Thank you for answering, of course I would appreciate it very much, you want to communicate here or you prefer another means :)
Fascinating pictures, but Good God, I thought the editing was going to bring on an epileptic fit! Some of those segues were a little, aah, - 'energetic', might have been more at home in a drum 'n bass or dubstep video! 🤯😄
Reopening of the Athlone To Mullingar or Loughrea railway links would cut down trains journey from Dublin to Galway and the Western Rail Corridor would bring back Tuam trains.
Wow, but Una Taaffe was a gorgeous young women in her day!

This is brilliant! Great to see Mate Lydon, JJ Gaffey, Pat Flood, Kevin Garvey and wonderful to see people and places named so well. I was waiting to see my great friend, the late Seamus Mulligan, but I'm sure he'll turn up soon. And he has been well documented by John Finn elsewhere here. Thanks for this lovely treat.
