Just binged on most of your videos, most underrated channel I've ever come across and I watch a lot.. How do you manage to travel so much, what kind of job do you have?

I was there 20 years ago this month. I'm from North Carolina, but never knew, as I grew up in Maryland, about this amazing ship and her courageous crew. I was fine touring the main and superstructure, but I could not go below deck. I never went down there. I didn't have the right. That's a sacred place of honor. I just did not feel welcome. There's a sadness mixed with grief there. I'm glad I found this. I thank you, as former Army, for showing us a place I was never worthy to step. God bless all who served on her and who keep their memories safe. ❤

I can’t believe there aren’t any comments! That submarine is incredible! I can’t imagine being part of the crew on it! It would be amazing to talk to the men who were in it for any period of time. I just can’t imagine getting in that… You would think they most likely knew they were saying goodbye for the last time to friends and family…

Not sure of the difference between the two ships? Old Ironsides built in Boston and launched in 1797 is the USS CONSTITUTION is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world today.

The irony of preserving these jewels is that their life span in a museum may end up being its eventual demise . How do you maintain optimal conditions over hundreds of years ?

Nice to see the continued upgrades to the ship. Dad's ship along with the Missouri and Des Moines in the early-mid 50's. Sailed along her while rafted up against the Forrestal in Naval Station Newport.

Lord God, the idea that wood splintering was of minimal danger is as stupid as the plaque that says the male lion is distinguished by its beautiful mane, which used to be concidered a defensive adaptation,however this is no longer believed as studies in the wild show that lions attack the hips and spine if their opponents. Kind of like saying the tiger tank has 8" of armor plate in the front which used to be though of as a defensive adaptation of the tank but this is nolinger believed because combat footage shows allied gunners typically targeted its side and back.

Ok I've had enough listen to myth busters not hundreds of after action reports of splinter damage well if you watch the mythbusyer show you will see a 6' plank fly off of the wall when they hit their inaccurate analogue of a ships side so unless you are a super hero you are going to be hurt or killed in fact if you watch the slow motion from the top on the show you see how much high speed wood splinters are flying around, the idea that solid shot did not spray wood splinters everywhere with enough energy to tear through human flesh is imbecilic.

This guy should go back to school splinters were very dangerous flying wood splinter's did not just hit your hand and some were three ft long and would inpale you and wood splintering caused most of the causualties having your leg cut off because a foot long splinter runs into your thigh is serious 1 inch splinter in your hand would not only incapacitate the hand but in the 1800s infection was the way most splinter wounds killed.also the imagine 140+ men on that gun deck the odds of a cannon shot hitting someone directly is very high. Most of the battles were at close very close range the ball would not just punch a hole and bounce off and roll around but it would bounce of and hit something soft enough to dissipate the remaining energy of the round.

I have to come back for a 2nd visit ... that ship is indeed "The Showboat" ... my favorite out of touring the Texas, Wisconsin, New Jersey, & Yorktown.

its an old old wooden ship, used in the civil war era

the coast guard was all volunteer even back when the draft was on and during vietnam. no chief was going to be operating the throttles in the engineroom. probably an e4 petty officer.

So you’re telling me we had aircraft carriers launching jet fighters and this wooden pirate ship being used by the Navy at the same time.Because it was used until 1955. That is crazy. I understand the USS constitution is still commissioned, but that is a museum ship.
