Match Lessons - Yeet The Table
If you have a chance to do something that makes a person on your squad yell "America" from reflex, you do it.

Match Lessons - Keep Moving
มุมมอง 3339 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Every time you stop and start, it will add about a second to your stage time. If the targets are easy enough to allow it, don't stop moving.
Match Lessons - Stay Back
มุมมอง 23812 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Don't get sucked into corners, ports, or around wall. Planning your movement to keep back away from traps will lead to smooth movement through the stage.

Match Lessons - Fast Makeups
มุมมอง 60314 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
How long should a makeup shot take? Well, if you see it as it's happening, it should be nearly the same split as the original.
Match Lessons - Gun Transitions
มุมมอง 12421 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
In a 2 Gun match, pretty much every stage will have a gun transition. In this match there were eight of them. This means there are eight chances to gain time on the competition simply by executing a fast, smooth transition that doesn't interrupt your stage flow.

2024 UTLE Not A Cop Multigun
มุมมอง 516วันที่ผ่านมา
I started off the UTLE Not A Cop Multigun match with a catastrophically bad first stage, dropping 30 points right off the bat and essentially starting in 35th place. At the third stage, I got past a mental hurdle (if you know, you know) and started shooting well again. By the end I clawed my way back to a division win but came one spot short of the overall match win by half the points I gave up...

Match Lessons - Bottom To Top
มุมมอง 40021 วันที่ผ่านมา
If you have targets stacked on top of each other, it's almost always better to shoot bottom to top. Here's why.
Match Lessons - Making Up A Miss

Was it worth it to make up that miss? Well, let's see what the match has to say.
2024 Oct SLPSA USPSA
มุมมอง 38021 วันที่ผ่านมา
This weekend I knocked off a bit more of the rust and finished fourth overall at our local match. In classic 3 gun fashion, I shot the fastest time of the match but dropped a ton of points. The net result landed me at 98% of the winner. I'm getting close to where I left off before the trip, but I still have ways to go, especially on the vision front.
2024 Oct NRL22
มุมมอง 11421 วันที่ผ่านมา
NRL22 is pretty much the exact opposite of the shooting sports I usually do. There's still a time component, but if you want to do well, you simply can't miss anything. My natural tendency to go fast helped me get through some of the more complicated stages, but it really hosed me on some easy shots I should have made. Still learning.
Match Lessons - Ports and Walls
มุมมอง 25528 วันที่ผ่านมา
Don't get sucked into ports, and stay away from the corners as much as possible. Keep the gun up and running.
Match Lessons - Available Points
มุมมอง 29928 วันที่ผ่านมา
Just because you found a sneaky place to shoot a target from doesn't automatically make it a good idea. Make sure you can still get enough points to make the time savings worth it.

@@anthonydietmeier6524 It seemed appropriate.
Kinda like tactically sound cops/mil: don’t hug cover/walls. Thanks
What distance are you going predictive and what distance are you taking k zone pistol shots? I’m currently doing that at five yards. Can only afford monthly matches and dry fire. No place to shoot live practice at speed.
With a pistol it's somewhere around 10 yards for predictive pairs, assuming a good stance, grip, etc. If it's a lean, or I missed my grip on the draw, or something else is going on that could have an impact on my recoil control, then I'll switch to reactive shooting. I almost never take K zone shots unless it's on a partial target where you're pretty much just shooting at the head anyway or if it may save me a reload. It's usually faster to fire a quick pair and get two As on a close target than to take longer on the sight picture and trigger press and risk eating two mikes on that target.
@ ok thanks
Man, thats some quick shooting and moving! Was hoping to make it to utah for this, but not in the budget this year unfortunately. Looked fun though! Hopefully next year.
@@evolvingskills5903 Thanks. It’s a great match. Definitely worth the drive.
Why not do this under night vision, tough guy?
Because it’s daytime…
Where the shotgun tho?
@@anthonydietmeier6524 I was asking the same. They decided to do a 2 gun match instead of a 3 gun match. I was bummed.
@Adamriser1 very sad. Did you request a 33% refund?
@@anthonydietmeier6524 Nah. $80 for a 10 stage match is pretty damn cheap. It was still a ton of fun.
You need extra magazines even if you aren't a competitive shooter. You might need a reload in a self defense situation & what are you going to do if the manufacturer discontinues your firearm?
Little things like that will definitely make a difference. When you said "flow" through the stage that clicked for me.
Thanks for that! I'm new to USPSA and that was one of those situations that I was wondering about! That balance of speed and accuracy is pretty hard! Thanks for explaining that in a detailed way. Comparing the times and hit factors definitely drove it home for me!
Is it really the wrong decision, though? You call it based on the optic behavior and end up with a 0.76 split on the makeup. I think you have to consider the amount of time it would have taken to definitively identify it as a miss and weigh that against the relatively minor time penalty involved in taking the make-up. I think the better question is whether you could have taken the make-up shot faster by being reactive to the dot behavior instead of trying to score the target. The .20-.25 split that is reactive to the dot not looking right is much easier to stomach than the .76 from looking at the target.
@@DaBigBR Maybe wrong decision isn’t the right phrase. How about safe decision that guaranteed a lower stage finish if the hole was there? To clarify, I was calling shots as I shot them, and I called this one on the perf. It was only because this was in the last position and right in front of me that I had the chance gamble on a good hit and to come back and check my work after. It’s a very unique case that would not apply elsewhere in the stage. If I had called the same possible mike earlier, I definitely would have just sent a third round as I did elsewhere in the match instead of gambling that it was in there and going back to look after.
Thanks for this! Cadence shooting- It never made sense how you were supposed to move your gun a larger distance in the same amount of time as a split
That looks like SUCH an interesting match!
@@kenworley9519 Yup. Not a lot of matches where you drive a side by side while your team mate shoots from the front.
Ur a demon with it
Got my first DQ at my first match getting unnecessarily sucked into a port with a long gun. Started running away before I pulled the gun back out..
Did you ask Mother May I, take a Giant Step?
Would have been a small one for you.
This is great. Thanks for this tip
You got some speed 👍
Excelent reason I don't watch "competitiopn" anymore, this is just stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A win is a win
Just RO'd a jungle run Sunday. The targets that got missed the most, sometimes multiple times, were the static clays at bayonet distance. As is always the case.

Im 21 and interested in getting into this sport. Any advice for a newbie?
Go to practiscore.com. That's where match sign ups are posted. Find a match in your area, sign up for any division, and go. When you get there, let the staff know that you're new and they'll take care of you. If you don't have a pistol, just say that you want to borrow one. A dozen people will then run to their cars and fight over who gets to loan you theirs. Trust me. If you do have a pistol, bring it and all your mags. Don't buy anything before you've been to a couple match. Start there. Have fun.
Just show up. Uspsa peeps are usually very friendly and give you more advice than you need. If you want old fudds yelling at you you can go to IDPA. You dont need much gear. Holster, mag pouch, belt. Any pistol in 9mm etc and mags. Eye pro, ear pro. Water.

Who the hell is blowing a shotty from inside the vehicle?
@@robertgreiner297 Everyone at the match.
If you can control a 12 gauge shotgun in a vehicle, a 5.56 carbine is gonna feel like a BB gun running it inside of confined spaces. Definitely could see some benefit from this training
This is something that definitely caught me off guard the first few times I got squished into an awkward prop.
dam do u use a gun with that magazine??? so many malfunctions......

What is your PCC gun? I've been shooting strictly CO, but looking to get into PCC.
@@Delta-Alpha-Kilo It’s a GMR-15 from JP Rifles. If you can afford it, the JP-5 is even better.
I really like the Match Lessons series of videos!
Great point. Use dead time productively.
Excellent point. I was in a class recently and made that mistake. Good lesson.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of people get caught out like that. Always a good thing to be aware of.
Great recovery and lesson.
Interesting and well presented.
Who makes your sling? Not related but there was about six months when I was in the US Army in 1992 when our commander took away our slings as punishment and to teach muzzle discipline. Stationed in Germany back then.
@@Platoon_Guide It’s the Way Of The Gun sling from Frank Proctor. Nothing fancy, very minimal. I added a pull loop to the buckle to make it a bit easier to grab on the run.
Good stuff man, keep them coming.
Very cool
Thanks buddy!
Dude love your stuff. Salt lake looks like its got some dope stages
Cool compilation. You look like Jerry Barnhart. And that jump from the truck was absolutely badass... My knees cried a bit, though. But that's just because they're envious.
Does this mean what I think it means?
Not quite. I'm in Canada ice climbing right now and won't be shooting any matches until this summer. Mostly what it means is that I have been thinking about shooting a lot lately, and I've also been having trouble sleeping and need to fill the time :)
do you shoot open with a non comped pistol?
Sorry, just saw this. I did for a while. There wasn’t enough difference in performance to justify a new pistol. But, I wore my barrel out and got a comp fitted in the new one, so I’ll have a comp from here on out.
Looking Smooth

How'd you transition the rifle off of your back so fast?
It actually fell off over the top of my head. I was planning to unsling like I did on the Stage 2 video after I came out of the tube, but when I went to stand up it was already there. I was as surprised as anyone :)
@@Adamriser1 I brought the rifle across the front of my chest as I went through the tube. Thought it would be faster; turned out I just got hung-up in my sling. Still, coolest transition of the match!
Please can you tell me who makes that butt stock you are running on your AR? looks just like the one Daniel Horner uses. Ive been trying to track it down with No luck.
It's a different one. The one I use is from XLR Industries. I love it. Dan uses something slightly different with a similar adjustment design, but it's a little lighter. I prefer a bit heavier butt stock (just a bit) because it does a better job balancing out the rifle.
