My family and I were doing our weekly shop in Woolies at Tuggerah back in 2001 and a big framed man pushed his trolley around the corner. It was Chief! I said hello, I'm a huge fan of the Knights and it was crazy seeing you in our local Woolies. He said "Haha I gotta eat food don't I?" and he reached over and opened a pack of Tim Tams and took one out and ate it and winked at the same time. I was aghast and he saw the look on my face so he went back and pinched another one out and forced it on me. "Now we're blood brothers haha" he said, I will never forget that day. When I retell the story at family functions my wife just shakes her head and say "that never happened, jesus christ..."

I was the local league liaison officer, and was lucky to spend time with the team, also witness to the great egg and lettuce sandwich in the face , from Mal Reilly, the bus was parked next to a car and Mal was discarding unwanted sandwiches back handed and hit a women smack in the face as she was getting to her car@@Knightvision1981

The late 90s was a golden time for halves. Imagine if we had the talent these days. But back then Daley and Stuart, langer and walters. Johns boys. Barrett and mundine, kimmorley and Geyer, Toovey and Lyons, Fittler and lam. A lot of players today are better than their historical counterparts but the halves and the centres are not on that list.

The very definition of a hospital pass. The ball was floated up in the air so Field had to jump to catch it, and in the process completely exposed his ribs and midriff. Field was also completely alone with no decoy runners and with the Knights defense bearing down on him. One of the worst passes ever.

Hey Kajor S here, just came here after listening to Owen Craigie’s interview with Andy Raymond on the Unfiltered Podcast, I felt absolutely sorry for Owen after he had walked out of the club almost immediately after this game following the hearing of Warren Ryan’s hateful comments towards him almost wrecking his career.

Very talented player and should have been a lifetime player for the Knights. Very skillful and could do a lot of things that even amazed Joey. As a Knights fan it was very sad to see him leave and play for another side. In 1999 we released Owen and didn't resign Jason Moodie at the end of that year but also released Brett Grogan in the 1999 Pre Season (WTF). This Rd 24 Dragons game was Owens last game for the Knights and he was named Man of the Match on Channel 9 and was somehow dropped for the remaining 2 competition games and the finals appearance against Parramatta.

It’s livening up again, but yeah it used to be exciting because teams used to have their own identity. No one played like Canberra with Daley and Stuart. No one played like newcastle with the John’s brothers. No one played like Brisbane with Alfie and Kev. Everyone does the same plays now. It’s so predictable

I was in year 12 and actually left school early to go down to this game from Newcastle. Great quality game and this came a week after the boys beat Souths 60 nil. We we're around 4th / 5th place at this stage but unfortunately we went onto loose to Auckland in Rd 25 by a massive score line, then loose to Sydney Roosters in Rd 26 before bowing out of the finals to Parramatta. What could have been.
