They knew each other before DEH because they did "Alice By Heart" together in 2015. Plus, Noah and Molly are the only two people to have done every iteration of that show, so they've known each other even longer. (The first workshop was 2014.) Since Molly is Ben's best friend, I'm sure he crossed paths with Noah quite a few times.
Yep! They've both talked about how they were friends for a long time, and kinda played the "will they won't they" game for years. I'm so glad they finally figured it out! ❤️

Okay I promised an analysis so here we go (don't worry I'll also post this on tumblr) "No words apear before me in the aftermase" is the PERFECT line to put for THAT scene. It PERFECTLY describes what Payton is going through after River... does what he does. "I was so... unkind." And this line (from the show) shows the regret he feels towards the way he treated River, and the way his compition with Astrid for River's affections, his own drive that he put above everything, and his inability to feel led him to not having the relationship he wanted with River "Because it's all over now." This line with River saying "I try to be" is just breaking my heart because River really did try to be happy, but he just- wasn't. And Payton, the only thing that made him happy, wasn't happy himself, and wasn't able to truly help River. I see this edit as Payton looking back on all his times with River, and that line is, to me, Payton asking River if he's happy now. If now that his life is over, he's happy. "Goodbye goodbye goodbye. You were bigger than the whole sky. You were more than just a short time." And River really was more than just Payton's friend, tutor, rival, or lover. He loved River. He sees River after River's dead, and even when Payton's dying himself he sees River in heaven. Also it's interesting that you paired that line with the part that River helps Payton breath before a debate, because that breathing is something Payton still does after River is dead, and it shows that the effect River had on him really was "more than just a short time." "It should have been you" followed by the kiss is prefect and I don't have to explain why. "Did some force take you because I didn't pray?" This is Payton asking if River left him because he wasn't enough (as shown by the scene paired with it in which Payton asks if it was because of him). "Cause it's all over" my eyes are in tears and so are Paytons because River is gone and there's nothing Payton can do. "I wasn't attracted to River in that way" paired with "so I say words I don't believe" fits so so well because it IS CANON that Payton is pansexual (I'm sorry but it is) and he litarely sees River in heaven right before he almost dies so yeah no he WAS attracted to River in that way. "I got a lot to live without" with the scene of Payton crying after the treesome. I just- I think that shows how much he loved River. That he was willing to sleep with a girl who called him the f slur and hated him just so that he can be close to River and then the night is ruined and River goes after that girl. He chooses the girl over him. And Payton can't deal with that. "Goodbye goodbye goodbye" right at the "I really did love you" scene? Yeah that's perfect. "It should have been you" and then they hug IN HEAVEN????? Yeah you're right Payton it SHOULD have been River. Fight me.
