You can do it too! Climb the tallest mountain in Colorado. Mt. Elbert.
มุมมอง 2132 หลายเดือนก่อน
Mt Elbert is the tallest mountain in the state of Colorado and the second tallest in the lower 48. The summit is stunning and well worth it. It's a fairly easy 14er that is not technical. Make sure you bring plenty of water and layers for potential weather.
Installing narrow passenger (REAR) seats in family camper van? Sprinter Van build series. EP 3.
มุมมอง 1.3K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
We decided to install Ford Transit seats in a sprinter van since the transit seats have a narrow option. This allowed us to have a small hallway towards the back of the van. This solution was a must have for out family camper van conversion that sleeps 5 people. We use heavy duty steel reinforcements under the van, filled the rib gaps that were created (both under and above the floor) and used ...

On this episode we go over how we insulated and plied sound proofing to the floor of our sprinter campervan using Kilmat, Minicell and the stock factory floor. This method is used by many professional camper van builders, but its personal preference and you will have to assess your needs. There are 3 main options when it comes to building a large family camper van. Which one is best for you? in this episode we also go over the factory options that we picked for our 2023 Mercedes sprinter camper van conversion.
Minivan Camper for 5 people!!!!!
มุมมอง 1994 หลายเดือนก่อน
We converted this Toyota Sienna minivan in to a family camper that sleeps 5 people. It also has a kitchen off the back. It has a bunk bed with memory foam mattress that are removable and easily stored during driving mode. None of these modifications are permanent and it can be easily removed. Like the idea, but is this a prototype? Or final product? looks a little small compared to the actual cutout. Why didn't they make the wondow bigger? What are those 2 little plastic bump on the outside?
It’s a final product. The link can be found on the description. As far as the size I don’t think it can be much bigger than this. Maybe an inch or so because of the frame of the van. It’s plenty of light and since it’s rectangular it’s also super easy to frame later on. As far as the plastic parts I am guessing you are referring to the handles to open and lock each window.
Welcome to the van build community. We also just started a van build on a 2003 Ford Econoline and posting short vids, don't have time for the long vids anymore. We look forward to your progress. Great start.
Yeah I have to admit, it takes a lot of work to film and edit these videos but we love it.
Very interesting! I think of van build for retirement in 10-20 years and I'm thinking having the kill mat but also insulation carefully sealed and securely fastened but in a way that is fairly easy to remove to do maintenance such as treat any rust spots and check for issues like mold. I would do that not very often but frequent enough. There's a lot of space in that van compared to many; good luck.
Kilmat does not absorb sound, it just adds wait to a piece of metal that would otherwise vibrate. But since the floor of the van has ridges it does not vibrate. So your Kilmat does basically almost nothing here.
A Floor with ridges still vibrates. Dampening reduced vibration. Might not be enough of a difference for you and I but we aren’t the ones living in the vehicle.
We notice a significant difference with road noise since we installed it. We researched this a lot and decided to go this way but there are many different ways to achieve the same thing.
Does it let any light out at night? Wondering about how stealth it is. Thanks for the instruction. I am still researching a van build.
No. I was actually very surprised to see how you can’t even tell the light is on inside at night. My only concern would be lack of insulation but that can be easily fixed with an insulated insert.
Thanks
Thanks for the video. Will you be installing Killmat on the walls in such a wat where you cover the entire wall? A single patch on the wall panel seems wasteful. I know the 4 different mfg sites i researched covered every square inch.
No. For us, killmat is only needed for soundproofing on the walls. The van comes with some but the bigger window panels don’t have any. You will have to add that there. We will be installing havelock wool insulation on ours. Killmat is super heavy, so keep that in mind.
Great video a little shaky on the cam but the views were brilliant. You made the hike seem easy but I did hear you breathing hard a few times. Thanks for sharing.
We got better camera equipment that should take care of some of that now. And yes deff a little short of breath because of the elevation. If you acclimate before, it should be a lot better! Thanks for the comment

Awesome Video!!! I just subscribed. I am planning to buy a 170 non extended. We are family of 5 as well. May you make a video about MPG. I am wondering if is true that new High output engine can get 23 MPG . Thanks in advance!!!
Yes it’s true. The highest we have gotten is 25 MPG. Our van is not done but we took it on a few trips already and even with all of our gear and a full 40 gallon water tank it got at about 23. Head winds will tank your MPG’s. We had strong head winds in Kansas and it dropped our MPGs to 12.
Thanks for the fast reply...waoo that is a huge drop to 12 but is good that the new engine is getting over 20 MPG. I tested a Ford transit trail and I got 16 MPG not great. Have fun with your build !!!
@@bj231bjthanks!
Thanks for the video. Been looking at ways how if I build a camper van to have it work for a family of 5. Looking forward to more videos of your build series.
I like the video 👍
Looking foreward to this. We are in the process of planning a build.
Awesome! Because of editing delays we post later here but IG is more up to date. We are going to post every step of the process on TH-cam!
@@TrueLivingOverland All good, I'll be around on the YT, I'm about 8 months out to actual building. Got lots of planning to do. All the best in yours.
Keep It Simple is the best. Looking forward to your content as I'm planning on building a van.
New subscriber, looking forward to your Sprinter videos!
Please make sure all the stuff is tied down and secured, including the bed. Think what will happen when there is a severe crash. Keep the good work and be on the safe side. All the wood inside the van is unsafe during a severe crash.
We had everything tied down with straps. We no longer have the minivan. We are now building an off-road sprinter! Check it out!
Looking forward to seeing videos of your build.
More coming up! Thanks!
