Killer demo of a great rig and player. Nice!

Very good playing. I have two Strats, both maple boards. One is perfect for my style. The other one sounds exactly like this guitar here, very bright. I guess that’s how many were in the 50’s. As much as I like to keep it original I’ve decided to replace the pickups. I struggled with this decision.

The first smart move I made in my Fender collection was trading an American Strat and an American Tele for one of the first 1,000 Fender blackguard reissues in the early 80s. American and it came with a certificate that matched the number stamped on the bridge plate. The guy wanted $900 which how much the Tele and Strat had cost me together.

The ‘56 J-50s are some of the best of the best steel string guitars ever made. The tone is amazing and II like that they had the wider nut, before Gibson introduced the narrow necks, which personally I don’t like.

My Japanese Edwards Les Paul makes this sound like a really bad Chibson , I'll stick with that 👍

No on Gibson I'm keeping my 2021 high end Epiphones have videos posted of them on my channel with specs so there's no debate or arguments about anything.. does anyone even want Gibson anymore?

I had a 54' tele bridge in gold that said fender usa on, I told my Mum she could chuck out all my old guitar pickups and stuff that I had whilst making guitars as kid, I only remembered it when watching this video, they're worth a lot of money now! only just realised 🤦‍♂️😭

To each their own, but I played one of these in a GC and was so thoroughly unimpressed. I think it was around 5,400 dollars. Insanely overpriced.

Fantastic. Did these have the 7.25” radius neck and 3-way switch? Most places with the 2024 version 70th anniversary have the 5-way switch and compound 7.25”-9.5” radius neck. It looks like Sweetwater is the only place that has a Custom Shop 1954 70th Anniversary either true 3-way switch and 7.25” radius neck.

I am fortunate that I have my dads 6130 Round Up. He bought it new in 1954. He was 19 years old. $300 was a lot of money for a 19 year old boy to spend on a guitar back then. He played it for about 40 years. He's been gone for 11 years now. I am so fortunate to have it passed on to me. It's all original and in very nice condition. I have old black and white pictures that I keep in the case with it, of him playing it at barn dances and weddings way back then. He played along with my mom's uncle, who played accordion. He bought me a $90 drum kit out of the Sears & Robuck catalog and taught me how to play drums n keep time to waltz's n polkas and two steps when I was 9 years old. I played my first gig with him when I was in the 4th grade. I made $7! So I went on to be a drummer. But he also taught me just enough guitar to het going on my own and be just a little dangerous. Lol! I take it out and play it once in a while just for the memories and to hear it. THANK YOU DAD!!!
