Hi, Phillip Pfister. Good video. Thank you. I had the good fortune to assist a VERY good field mechanic put new seals into a track adjuster on a 36A D8H in the field - without even breaking the track. It took a little work with a 20-ton hydraulic jack to push the idler all the way forward and it was tight getting the adjuster cylinder out but it did come out. I suspect that it would not be possible with track pins and bushes in good condition but these were about 60-70% worn. The 'bar that you are referring to is called the equalizer bar. Just my 0.02. Greetings! Man, am I glad I found your videos! Its crazy that there aren't really any other videos documenting this stuff. I am about to attempt a brake job on an old Cat 977H track loader of a similar vintage. The parts are basically all the same since the 977H shares most of its core parts with a D7, and a D7 is very similar to a D8. Anyway.. in another one of your videos, you mentioned sending your brake bands off to a place in Chatanooga to have them relined. Could you please share the name of this place so I can use them as well? I am trying to get everything lined up and have had no luck finding a place that will reline these old bands. How did yours turn out once you got them back? Thanks in advance and thanks for posting these invaluable videos!
