TAIPEI, TAIWAN TRAVEL VLOG. What is Taipei really like?
Hey TH-cam fam! It’s been a while 🥺 and I’ve missed posting content omg. This summer, I had the chance to travel to Taipei, Taiwan, with my mom, and we had a blast. Got to learn all about the history and even visit the beach.
I know this is my first video in a while; life has been full of changes and lots of moving pieces. But I’m back and so excited to start sharing more consistently, not just travel but other parts of life too. Can’t wait to dive into this new chapter together! 🫶🏽

i moved to houston back in 2021 from my hometown in san diego california and was single living in my own apartment in midtown. It was a horrible experience, i had so many roaches there, and the power would always go out at the slightest inconvenience. Fast forward to 2023 I met my fiancee here and we now live together in NW houston. It's so crowded inside the loop, traffic is horrible and the drivers are the worst i've ever seen. My fiancee is from Massachusetts so she's not used to the extreme humidity and heat here either. We both experienced beryl together last year and were without power for a week. Also, the crime out here is really bad I had to purchase a firearm to protect her and I and our place. It took me 3 years to find a decent job here in the medical center area but I still haven't found a balance here or have made any friends. We are considering moving to the suburbs or out of state. We both have reached a point of stagnation as content creators and graphic designers and don't feel like we are living at our fullest potential.

I left houston back In 15 to work for dallas transit. The traffic since then to now is light night and day. The major cities all across America are getting way too populated. I only come into dallas for work only. I moved to a small town 1 hour from dallas to try and escape some of the big city chaos. But now my small town is starting to grow alot. My hopes are to move from America altogether when it's time to retire and have a more peaceful life. Dallas is now not too far behind Houston in terms of traffic chaos and crime. America has changed so much in a bad way

    • @yanavida

I totally understand how you feel! Born and raised in Houston. In 2016, relocated to Minneapolis Minnesota, no friends or family. It was hard! Extremely depressing. I literally fell into depression. Moved back to Houston in 2023. Glad to be home. The move to the midwest helped me appreciate and realize how important it is to have family and friends. Something I took for granted. Gotta have your tribe. Continue blessings to you!

As a Houston transplant who also lived outside of Beltway 8 at one point, I can tell you.. Had you lived ANYWHERE inside the 610 loop, I’d be willing to bet you would have had an amazing time while here. Especially if you’re single without a family.. the suburbs, IMO, are more for the families(as you always have them to keep you company). This story could/would be the same in any metropolitan city. A change in your settings might have met your expectations of what Houston really is.. Either way, I support curiosity, growth, adventure, uncertainty and all the other things that make life fun and worth living. Keep going pretty Yana 👌🏾

The Woodlands is NOT Houston. So your opinion isn’t based on authenticity. I lived in SW Houston. I’ve stayed in Greenway Plaza, Upper Kirby, River Oaks, Montrose and Rice Village (I hopped from Airbnb to Airbnb). I stayed in Greenway Plaza and River Oaks for a year a piece. I loved living in the city. It was pricey but I still loved living there. The people I know who live far out from the city- SW in particular, didn’t like living in Houston. However I didn’t have to go to a job so I don’t have that experience of Houston.

The woodlands is 1 hour away from Houston. It's like saying I live Dallas when I really live in fort Worth. I'm sick of these people. I'm from Arkansas and even I know the difference. Hell it's not that hard. Sweetie you live in a whole different city of people that usually don't have travel outside to work. If you live in the woodlands or spring the overall majority do not work or visit Houston on a regular basis. Please change the title to the woodlands. I live in greenway/upper Kirby north of WEST U south of river oaks (not rich I live in a apartment lol) that's Houston, the maintenance guy lives in sharpstown that's Houston, my neighbors are from third ward, OST, memorial city,5th ward, west chase, braeswood, university place those are all in Houston.

Raised in Houston, been here over 20 years, never had a desire to move out of state. Bought a home & planted roots. Plenty of job opportunities around here, but I know the area & have friends from schools, jobs, church, etc. Very used to the heat & humidity, it was worse when I was a kid bc we were outside all the time not in the air conditioning. We get used to it. Texans in Gen have a grit to them bc there are many cowboys/cowgirls in West Texas that are tough and we have to 'prove' ourselves to not seem weak.

I moved to Texas 14 years ago and I was a strong person but definitely learned to be stronger. Texans are full of grit, love and straightforwardness and it's not a place for the weak at heart. I live in South Dallas County and I love it here. Only been back up North once since my move.

I’m going to make an unpopular to Houstonians comment. I don’t care! I’m going to spill the tea on this city! I moved to Houston in 2021 for my husband’s job. I went to college in Texas way back in the early 90’s. Then I lived in Los Angeles for 20 years. When I first got here in 2021, it was cheaper and the price of housing was better. However, now it is not cheap anymore. It’s crowded, expensive and the drivers here are just plain scary- and I’m from Los Angeles saying that! Next, if you aren’t from here it seems to be tougher to make friends. The people who are from here have their own networks of people and though they are hospitable, they aren’t friendly. It is almost always roasting hot and humid here. I suffer from migraines and have to stay indoors most of the year. This is tough because I am a very active, outdoors loving person. I miss the ocean( a really beautiful ocean with a real beach), hiking in the mountains ( it’s flat here) and clear air. The air here is disgusting and humid! It’s horrible if you have asthma or allergies( which I never had until I moved here). Also there aren’t bike paths or jogging paths so riding a bike is not possible unless you want to get run over by the crazy drivers. Also, it’s not very exciting here. If you like booze, bbq and wearing shorts year round, you’ll love it here. No judgment, but that’s not me. And please save the comments saying there are sooo many exciting things to do here! There aren’t compared to LA! Sorry! The city is not terribly sophisticated like NYC and LA are, sorry! And please don’t live in the suburbs, it’s awful. I have had to live in them for the last two years, I’m dying of boredom! They don’t even have a sprouts market or a Trader Joe’s for 30 miles! Just fast food and strip malls! Yuck! They just seem to build medical facilities or fast food/coffee places. So, good luck and I hope you find a place that you love❤. I know that as soon as my husband retires I’m outta here!

I encourage young people to move out of their hometown to another city or state, it will push to grow in ways you didn't think was possible. I moved after college from Miami to Tampa over 10 years ago, I accomplished so much more than the friends that I grew up with. Now they all want to move, because they're looking to start there life and I already had a 10 year headstart

Houston is like that because you have to work to survive.. ppl basically come here for work but you have to have balance and for whatever reason it's hard to find balance and ppl especially at jobs here are always stressed tf out. I picked up a retail job during holiday time..ppl mean asf and not the customer's.. it's something about the work environment here. You can make money but some of the attitudes 🤮🤢. And by it being so big most ppl aren't from here and a lot of ppl are weird energy wise. Like trustwise being here by yourself.. everyone is like scammers either personality wise or something else. I haven't found genuine ppl probably one but, it's hard trusting ppl here especially as a woman. Best of luck

Aw, Yana! Love you so much. This is a great vlog! I think you captured very clearly what many people experience when they move away from home for the first time. ❤

I have lived in Houston for 15+ years , there have been alot of ups and downs , more bad memories to be exact, Nonetheless I'm excited for my move and ready for a fresh start. PS the energy in Houston can be dark and draining anyone who plans on moving here please do your research and visit first. ✌🏾

get some advice from people who actually live here before you move. The Woodlands is a much older vibe. If you want a younger vibe u need to move closer into the city

I moved to Houston 8 months ago and it’s definitely an adjustment period but I also understand it takes time to build new friendships and relationships and you should of gave it more time you were home sick and when you’re home sick you look for every reason to leave and focus on temporary cons
